This makes me so so angry. I had a similar story. My dad fell sick and we went to the doctor he concluded my dad has arthritis. He had go in every 3months months for subscription but he was not getting better. One day I was in town and I bumped into his assistant. His assitant told me i should not go there anymore becouse the doctor just intentionally misdiagnose people so he could get as much money as he can from them and when their bout to die he transfers them to the hospital so the do not die on his practice. I immediately took my father to the hospital only to find out he has stage 4 cancer. If we knew in time we could have had time to fight it. Their so many evil people out there who don't have passion or good intentions. M so sorry ❤hope you feel better soon.

He never heald properly from the second surgery and lost his ability to walk. He is an angel of mine in heaven now. But I always think about if things would be different if the doctors got it right the first time.

When you go to a private doctor with a medical aid all they do is try to cash out till you run out of funds. Their main goal is to get as much money from you as possible. They will have you do all these unnecessary test and visits just to maximise how much they can get from you. Its sad
know this I used to work as a receptionist at a local surgery.

Throughout my life, I don't just take a Dr diagnosis. I do my own research to understand the cause. Most diseases are related to poisonous foods that we eat. Medication will not cure e.g diabetes while you continue eating what caused the problem.
I struggled with bad sinuses, Irritable bowel, eczema; only to find later that they are caused/ exacerbated by my intolerence to lactose, wheat, and gluten.
    All my illnesses disappeared.
During that process, the ENT at Millpark did a scan that determined that I need to do an operation to reduce swelling in my sinuses. I refused because when I asked if the op was a permanent solution, he said no. I went to Dr specializing in nutrition, I am healed.

There was a time too that I was diagnosed with hypertension after 1 reading. I was in disbelief that at age 22. I could have hypertension. It’s not impossible though. I sought 2nd opinion and Dr B was so mad at doctor because Dr A didn’t even do thorough checkup. Generally, it is normal to have a slightly higher blood pressure reading if you are stressed or going through something, which also doesn’t guarantee to be placed on meds.
To be placed on that medication you need a measure yourself for a period of time (30 days ) and if it’s high you go on medication. I was so lucky I only drank 1 pill and never looked back. Imagine I would’ve been on meds for life. I am glad I listened to my intuition. You’ll be fine queen Ninja, so sorry you had to go through this❤.
To anyone diagnosed, ALWAYS seek second opinion even with operations etc.

    I encountered a similar problem,
2 years ago I injured my knees, started exhibiting rheumatoid arthritis symptoms due to the intensity of the injury. I remember going to this "white" doctor who after I had disclosed some of the symptoms wanted to diagnose me right there and then, he even prescribed medication for me, we had a contention as I refused to take any medication without proper medical procedures. Thankfully, my aunt is within the medical fraternity, post expressing what had transpired, she quickly explained to me what I was to do (which was to rest my knee for a year) and today as I type this, I am fully okay even back to my active life again.

  • @CeeMotsoeneng
    @CeeMotsoeneng หลายเดือนก่อน +9

I am so glad that you got a chance to get second opinion. I don't think it is a problem of racism in this particular case because I lost my first child due to a black doctor that was quick to book me to a session of cutting my fallopian tube claiming my baby was ectopic - meaning the baby was growing in a tube. Only for him to remove my child in the womb, claiming the child was dead, that doctor scrubbed by womb. Only for my child to show up two weeks later still trying to grow even when the womb was scrubbled. The other gynaecologist tried their best to save my child for another 6 more weeks but unfortunately the womb was no longer conducive for the foetus to survive, I miscarried. Only 6 weeks after he said my baby died, actually died.
That is when I learnt that a second and a third opinion is important

For years I thought I won't be able to have kids ,it haunted me for many years, especially when I first met my husband and he was so excited about us having a baby ,all that would go through my mind is can I even ? By God's Grace ,I have a 2 year old son now ,these Drs that don't double check their work don't know how much they literally affect people's lives and the trauma and damage they can cause to someone.Im so sorry,I hope you heal and your I hope your health hasn't been affected overall ,May God help us.

Medical literacy is very important. You’re your own advocate, exactly what happened to you happened to my sister Inlaw. She has endometriosis &ovarian cyst. She underwent surgery the first time to remove the cyst because it will cause her so much pain. About a year post her operation she got pregnant and went to her local hospital & the doctor told her that she needed another operation because her cyst was too big. Her pregnancy wouldn’t survive. She was so depressed but had a gut feeling that all will be well. The dr kept on pressuring her to do the operation, she left the province where she was and come to us for second opinion. Her new dr actually told her she did well not to go through with the operation because the operation would’ve caused a miscarriage because cyst always appear during early stages of pregnancy to protect the embryo cause a placenta hasn’t formed yet. If she tempered with the cyst she would’ve had a miscarriage. She too was taking the medication that the first dr prescribed her but thankfully nothing happened to her baby. She has a healthy baby boy. Some dr just slip through cracks but definitely you should sue because tempering with someone thyroid is very dangerous. Get yourself compensation

"what's she gonna do about it?" ...may I kindly suggest that you seek pro bono legal services from people who understand that you're feeling tired, so that they can drag this guy to court on your behalf and sue him until he's begging at the robots in his undies. It's totally up to you, but please don't let this guy get away with murder. If his previous 5 victims before you had decided to take action, maybe you would have been spared. This is sad Owami to be diagnosed by a general practitioner on a specialised disease. An endocrinologist should have diagnosed you and they normally tell you if it’s hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism. You have to take blood tests often when you are on that medication every month or every other month to monitor whether the medication is helping or not. An endocrinologist also advises you that after 18 months, you can not carry on with the medication because it has extreme side effects and can cause cancer if taken for a long time. I can’t believe you took it for over years. Sometimes for women older than 40yrs starting to experience menopause, hormones like thyroid show imbalance and one can experience thyroid imbalances. A mis diagnosis does happen but you were in your 20s and it does not make sense. If a general practitioner picks that up, they have to transfer you to an endocrinologist. This doctor needs to be arrested.

Eish and Thyroid Medication is so expensive but I was taking mine at the government hospital.
I was told that I’ll be taking this medication for life, it was 2019 when I found out. I did t stress I just took my meds, then covid came, I could collect my medication anymore. So I stopped.
Only to take tested late in 2021 and my Dr said my thyroid level is totally normal now, and I was like but I was told that this thing is chronic.
I went to see my Gynaecologist lastweek, we took more tests and my thryroid leve is still normal.
So Owami maybe your blood tests then did pick up thyroid but that medication must have helped you in a way.

Sorry Owam gal!!! About that! These things are happening, to me it was the eye operation, but to me they were dealing with a nurse, and a Proffessional nurse to cry out loud.
Even to me my initial doctor was black, she explained everthing to and she even said *She is not sure about doing eye operation of that nature, she is going to ask other doctor, who can do it better* it was a white guy this one, thats where I got the new diagnoses, but I insisted that I will not allow myself being victimised after spending 32 years practicing as a professional nurse now I am a retired person I must be misdiagnosed like that. Sorry gal!!! These things do happen to people but thanks for sharing your 8experience.

They are is the business of saving money so they do not perform any unnecessary procedures. Rather go to a private practice to get the procedure done when the public hospital has confirmed.

Owamie, I have watched your videos for years, this is the first time i have ever commented, that is how important i think this video is. There is so much victimization of black people and black women specifically, by the medical industry. I have two children, and both pregnancies and births were traumatic due to the medical doctors who were in charge of my care. The private medical system also forces us to go to these people because you can't be booked into a hospital without them. If you can consider having a series where you talk to people about their experiences with the medical industry, I think it would do a lot of good because we can at least save a few people from going through what many of us suffer on a daily.
