there is no doubt that this man is remembering and celebrating the loss of his own mother .... he puts the book down, lifts his eyes to the choir and energises the room with his intensity and a personal acclamation to continue with the verse "we will see our mother's there" .... i lost my beloved mother a few years back and am witness to music being a spiritual connection to those whom we have loved and lost .. and love still
Such an uplifting and genuinely Irish sound, such hope and comfort in this tune! I feel peace swelling from this song like a tide. I needed this tune in my heart today.
Not sure where you hear a "genuinely Irish sound" in this. It sounds like any other Sacred Harp singing anywhere. The music and the style are American. At least half the singers are Americans who traveled there for the convention. Do Irish people have some special unique way of singing? I don't hear it if there is. It sounds like the singers in Bremen, maybe a higher percentage of trained singers in the group that makes it sound a bit cleaner.

In even the most "sorrowful" of these sacred harp songs, i always hear something that's joyful and uplifting.
I think there's a story here. What a lovely expression of comfort.

Beautiful. The video ends too soon though, I feel like I need their hug as bad as they do after that!
