    Love this combo of Brandon’s specs with Lemmo’s playing (and Jen’s wizardry as always). Brandon brings a bit of what’s been missing since Mark left - the knowledge and teaching.

    I recently took a chance and bought a 335 on eBay. It was reasonably priced but it was a lot to spend on a pig in a poke. Fortunately it arrived as advertised and it is a wonderful instrument. Although I had played a few over the years I had very little experience with them and the most surprising thing was how heavy it is. It weighs over 8 lbs and is the heaviest guitar in my collection. I did some poking around on the internet and apparently they vary a good deal in terms of body weight. The new ones with figured tops supposedly have weight relief. But I subscribe to the belief that extra weight provides more sustain and that is surely true of mine. I am still settling in with it and every time I pick it up I find something new. They are not inexpensive by any means but if you love guitars and you can afford one, I highly recommend getting one.

    Pro Reverb and blonde 335!
    Who could ask for anything more?
    Generally the more inspiring the guitar , the better the playing. You can hear it when Michael plays a vintage Martin or Gibson or Fender. The newer
    expensive ones, usually custom reissues are also special.
    2 years of pandemic blues playing by Lemmo are well appreciated. Guitar cures.

    Obvs Mike is using pedals, but I like seeing his amp settings: Vol 6.5, Treble 6, Bass 8, Reverb 3, Speed 1, Intensity 1. Bright switch OFF. I thought Gibson ES players often turn the Bass on Fender tube amps down to 2 or 1, but perhaps it's different when you're playing solo. Awesome guitar & player

    Looks like they still use modern near-jumbo frets on this re-issue.. not the original vintage small-low frets that would be about .032 tall. The neck profile may be very accurate, but without the right frets, its just a homage, not a replica. These would be much nicer if the finish was not deliberately destroyed. Not all old guitars have the finish shrink and check.. Thats a sign of cheap coatings... and yes Gibson used cheap finish coatings. My Guild Starfire V is 56 years old and has ZERO finish checking. Though I was always a Guild girl, in 1970 I met BB King and got to play Lucille, I believe the 2nd Lucille at that time. His Gibson had the same low frets as my Guild, and he ran the same light strings as me, 008 to 038. Lucille was the only guitar I have encountered in my whole life that had lower action setup than mine, the most perfect of the perfect byzzless low action setup ever. People today forget that 60 years ago the premium model electrics were fitted with low frets... big frets were found on cheaper models.
    As usual, excellent demo and chit-chat.

    • @crazyuncleted5817
      @crazyuncleted5817 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      relics are an excuse to charge more and I think you do get less for the money with the exception of large frets, its what Gibson should have used in the first place, if I found a scratch on a new guitar at the music store I would expect a discount for buying a damaged guitar!
