Love the old Hondas. Bought my first Honda at the age of 13, a CD175. Used to ride around the fields. I sold it and bought a CB200 in parts and put it together, and changed handle bars and tyres to make like a scrambler, couldn’t afford a proper scrambler. Learnt all I know about engines over the years on the Hondas. My advice would be to try and get the engine running first, then do a restoration… best of luck with the project. I don’t have a bike licence but would love to get a bike again, not sure the boss would let me though 😊
I've honestly never had the chance to ride one! I've no idea what to expect!
Good man ..... Joey Dunlop never had a road licence !!!
Ha! Good point
Hi John, if I was at home I’d pop up to you. I’ll keep an eye on progress and if you are still looking for help in a few weeks time give me a shout. In the mean time put some oil down the bore through the plug hole. Gently does it removing the plug! Then have a look at the carb, it’s probably filthy or corroded, but there are simple affairs so easily worked on.
Surprisingly Paul the fuel system is pretty clean, I reckon it's good for a start up at the very least just to check it's all working ok. I've done an oil change on it but not much more for now. I need to order parts up and figure out the maze of wiring.
Its the best way to learn, just getting stuck in. Ive just started to restore a Porsche 944 not having done a car before, i have worked on machinery and restored a tractor including a complete engine rebuild. Im not a mechanic and if i can do it anyone can. There is a world of videos on youtube to help, it makes the job so much easier. Best of luck
Thats pretty much what I'm hoping. I've been poking around on it but I need to order some parts up. Turns out the spark plug isn't available locally even! Oddball size
These are cool, agreed. 😁 I'd say watch some videos, maybe even buy some books, and then get stuck in!
Thank Luke, currently researching what to do exactly next! Other projects in the background are eating my cash though right now!
Are you hitting mid life crises John!😂
Hit that a long time ago!
