It's over 100 years old, and the biggest caught in North American freshwater history! Looked very tuckered-out at the end, but I'm glad they let it go.
I LOVE IT, THIS IS HOW ALL ANIMAL HUNTING SHOULD BE DONE, YOU COULD TELL THESE GUYS/HUNTERS ACUTELY HAD GREAT RESPECT FOR THE ANIMALM THEY CAUGHT AND RELEASED
Hunting any animal for Sport is Never respectfull, were already top of the food chain so killing another animal for the thrill of its just a slap in the face to all animals, the only time an animal should be hunted is to feed you or your family, not to make a quick buck or Good story...
You're adding in an aspect that was never in the original post. You never said anything about sport in the original post, thus your comment holds no water. Now if you want to start a new topic on sport hunting, it depends. When farms are being over ran by ground squirrels and eating their crops, sport hunting is more than acceptable. There is a huge difference between hunting and sport hunting.
Short E I tend to agree, to a certain extent. I don't see why in this day and age of cameras you need a trophy. (One wonders if us clever humans will work out a way to catch-and-release Deer someday, though? Certainly they are more resilient than fish...)
Cary Roys Actually I don't think that's true. Fish are basically pure muscle, and can take an unbelievable amount of trauma. The other problem is that water is naturally a much more supportive environment; no matter what you do underwater, it's hard to injure yourself if you can't drown. But if you, say, dart a deer, there's a good chance the deer will fall off a cliff, or just fall over, injure itself somehow, and be crippled or die. The third issue is that while these giant fish are endangered and live for thousands of years, deer live for 10 years, there are millions of them, and they are EATING MY GARDEN GOT TO GO
Fish, unlike deer, can die from stress. I have seen it happen, and the c & r guys take great pains to make sure that they take care of fish, because it is a common issue. Deer require quite a bit more to up and die.
Hello Steve....thanks for the comment and the fish that was found below Hope happened to be a 9ft untagged sturgeon located at Hurley Island. Our team at GRFA happened to be out on the water that day and we sampled the fish for the ministry of BC.
CoolPoppa Bell um... no, actually this fish was 12'4 and over 1100 lbs! it was all over the news and they have an exact replica of it in Cabela's in Abbotsford!
Wow, what a awesome fish :) . I'm so happy to see that you all let him/her go :) . It was cute seeing the fish being kissed. It's something I would do lol. Thank you for posting the video.
Awesome feat! You need to turn down the music and turn up the voice. I couldn't understand what the English gentleman was saying because the music was drowning him out.
yikes!! could feed the hg time surprised it hasn't been killed by one of the many boats on the riveromeless n the east end Vancouver for a long time surprised one of the many boats on the river
You really should re-post this without that ridiculous music. A person might even be able to hear the comments of the fellow who caught it if he were not overridden by the music.
Does not look like 1000lbs or 12ft, looks similar to a 7-8 feet Wales catfish that weigh around 300lbs. At most this be around 9 feet -350-380 lbs. Unless all the people in the video are over 7 feet tall......
What a monster fish!
Good to know, I will make sure I correct the people that told me , Thanx
Imagine swimming in the water and getting bumped by this thing! Holy crap no wonder our ancestors were so good at making monster stories.
You caught 'Nessy!
Its a holy mackerel
What kind of bait were used ???

Actually, the sturgeon did not look too fine at the end... Its fin was flopping weakly.
