Spoilers: this may not be the final setup 😵‍💫 so I got the 2 new zebras and.. when I say Max went bananas I don't think I can convey it in words.. he went nuts! why? well cos one of the zebras wanted to hang next to him.. and still does all the time for whatever reason and Max hates it.. for now :P safe to say Max is male at this point.. he shredded his fins in 2 days! But both new zebras want to hang around Max and Max likes his space, so for now I separated Max and I will rearrange things around so he forgets about his territory. I'll give some time for the new zebras to gain weight and strength, dosing stress guard and voogle and I think I will go the stacked slate route, I can see why it's used by most growers. I don't like it as much as my wood setup, but it does offer many spaces in close vicinity to each other, my setup does not... so they want to be next to each other, but they are competing for the exactbsame spot in lack of others a few centimeters above, below, left, right.... so off to rework the setup 🙄

You can use slate from a garden store, like for paving stones, fairly easy to break into smaller pieces. I just hit it with a hammer.

what a gorgeous Pleco! I love your shallow planted tanks...and that you found some caves for him too! The cat ears were a nice touch too. :-)

That's a really cute video, both because of the fish, their interactions and how they seem to get along really well, and because of how excited you are about Max and this setup! I love the tank, it looks really beautiful imo. I can't afford a zebra pleco myself (plus I have only one tank currently and it is for my Asian rummy noses, and they need hard and cool water so they couldn't cohabitate with a zebra pleco even though they are very peaceful small fish) but love seeing how you care for them, looking forward to future videos!

So funny and perfect to see you getting distracted by how adorable your zebra is:) I would too. Tank appears beautifully set up for breeding - I have found the same with my H Contradens (lovely dots all over) being very shy around big fast fish. For now mine is in a 75g with 2 large rainbowfish, 3 large giant danios, and a lot of small fish. Thankfully his (her?) favorite spot to "hide" from excess activity is under a large rock ledge where he is actually 100% viewable from the front of the tank - so cute! Will enjoy a video about adding more zebras, and watching them grow up and possibly breed.

I used to keep and breed L046 ( zebras). What I can say from my experience is that they like warm temperatures, HIGHLY oxygenated, soft, slightly acidic water ( alder cones extract or almond leaves or catappa leaves extract in a water was an absolute ball for them). In nature they live in a water with quite significant current between the rocks. My tanks never had any plants but had a lot of ceramic caves. And zebras loved them. It encouraged breeding. As for food they loved blood worms, repashy ( all different types for plecos), pleco pellets, LIVE brine shrimp, frozen shrimp etc....
Because they are very shy fish it's advisable to keep them with fish that won't compete for food or just by themselves in a tank ( in a group)

Bro! I’ve watched your orchid channel for so long, but I didn’t know you had this channel! I was thinking how familiar your voice is, then Maya chimed in and you said her name and I thought ORCHID GIRL!! I just got some zebras and am consuming all I can, that’s how I found this video. The MOG part makes more sense now lmfaooooo

Java Moss requires cooler temperatures. Temperatures over 29c can stress them out.
They are absolutely bullet proof except for the temperature.
