Hey Danny, what a great idea! For me, the worst is when you forget to turn back on the filter after water change and you realise that you've crashed your cycle... I now have two nano tanks without filter and a 55ltr with internal that I only turn off when cleaning it. Another is heaters... They usually work about a year or so before failing and causing problems with the fish, because of the low temperature.
I totally agree with the humming noises! I had really good luck with the fluval 207 filters being quiet. But for my most recent aquarium i purchased an all in one and hse a quiet dc pump.
I totally agree with all in your list. My biggest annoyance so far is this: when i not buy a fish, because it will not fit well in my aquascape, and it won't do well with species that i have, but some day after, i just wake up to see it in one of my tanks because my wife brought it, and she thinks that's a cute fish. This way we ended up with a bunch of angelfish, that, don't get me wrong, are absolutely magnificent, but so bully that i have to relocate many fish in order to have a relatively peaceful tank. And like you said about discus, my angels are so easy to spook! A wrong move and they're panicking, bumping into the glass or hardscape, two times even jumping out of the tank. I love them, but i hate them, so yeah, i do feel you. Keep up the good work! I really enjoyed this one because i can relate with all of your list.
The entire list is very relatable, although I have no personal experience with Nerite snails and Amano shrimps, I have avoided them for being escape artists. Also, +1's for the Dennerle sponge and Seachem Matrix. If you're going to move in a few weeks time, installing a new filter will not be worth it. Good luck with the Aquael!
Thanks for sharing this video. I related to many 😆 I am very lucky that I have all males. I don't know how it happened but I am definitely lucky. My annoyance is the amount of water that drips off of tank lids when you take them off of your tank. Also all of the water dribbling down my arms when I service my aquarium. I also agree with loud aquarium filters. I love my Tidal. They have an internal motor even though they are hang on the back types.
Hi, my Ramirezi cichlids are great at eating small snails.. and small shrimps sadly 🤭 angel fish can do that too! Most cichlids are great small snail eaters
Hi Danny I agree loud humming filter noise drives me crazy too, I have 3 aquariums that run on canister and internals which are in my living room where I watch tv etc. I have them set up so well and service regularly to lesson any noise.
I live in Australia, I had a four foot Discus tank a while back. I found them to be a little shy but not skittish, they never ran for cover or hit the glass when we went passed or approached the tank. The tank was deep though and I read they do prefer deep planted tanks which was what I had.
Loud air pumps. Why is the air pump louder than all the other equipment on my tanks? Maybe I just need to spend more on higher-quality pumps and they won't be as loud..
I have great news! Silent pumps exist, I have one from Nicrew but other brands make it too. It’s noiseless! You only hear the bubbles. It’s not expensive. You can search for it on Amazon or use my Amazon affiliate shop amzn.to/4byaWgU
Yep some of them are unbearable. I am using some little cylindrical USB powered ones from amazon right now and they're really quiet. I like using them with a USB power bank as a failsafe to keep the water circulating in case power goes out.
No6 Cladophora algae - Amen sister! WHY does no one have a fix apart from a full tank redo? I’ve needed to redo my tank for months or a year becoz it’s so infested but Cladophora depresses me so much. I want to reuse the plants but they need a dip and even still I don’t know if I can trust it will kill cladophora. It’s hard to get plants where I live. I would love a detailed tank break down/redo video if you film the zebra tank. Struggling to find motivation on TH-cam
I've had that problem with my red racer nerites. I usually catch them before they die, but I recently lost one because I didn't see it on the floor soon enough. 😢 I had a lot of amanos and every single one jumped out. I found them all over.
The most annoying thing for me is preventing my cryps from melting, if I dare to even glance at them they turn to mush 😅 Then I’m having an ammonia spike from the decomp
@@Danny-MOG Microfiber cloth and vinegar. I am using it for 10+ years without any issues. You really need a small amount of vinegar. For the past few years i clean the whole surface of the glass (all the way to the water line) when water changing. When cleaning with razer blade/ sponge/ plastic cleaners you leave some algae on the glass and these are back in few days in high tech planted tank. I used it on the discus breeding tanks with fry without any issues. The glass stay clear of algae for a longer period of time when cleaned with vinegar. People are actually pouring vinegar into tanks to keep PH down. Just make sure nerites are not on the glass when you clean 🙂
re "multiple tank syndrome" I just thought it's just another way of saying it's almost impossible to stop at just one tank... because let's be real, you have all the needed test equipment and all... you might as well get another tank, not that big a difference, right? and then suddenly you run out of vertical spaces at home XD
Haha well that’s legit, we already have the spares, we already have the bucket out, where 1 maintenance is made, 2 can be made as well 😂 on a serious note, the way I interpreted it is a bit darker 😬 more related to the symptoms of a hoarding disorder and worse poking fun at it. It’s not even funny as dark edgy humour cos it has nothing to do with hoarding, it’s just somewhat embarrassing.. it’s reaching more than me trying to reach the sweets strategically placed on my highest shelf 🤭😂 makes me cringe more than anything, but I think (seeing how ppl react to it) some people have an anxious response to it due to its ignorant implications. Wow wrote a novel for a bad joke lol that’s how much it annoys me 🤪
@@Danny-MOG I'm with you on that, especially with the word "disorder" which goes two ways, either stigmatising the person to which it's pointing (and making the stigma around various disorders worse) or making light of people with actual disorders. So yeah, I don't think that joke really lands. Especially how often people justify saying mean things by "just joking"
I love my nerite snails, they keep everything clean. Never clean the inside glass in my 20 gallon or nano cubes they do all the work. They also clean up any waste not taken in by the plants, so regardless of the lines of white eggs, that wont hatch unless you have brakish water, they are your best tank friends. They are healthy and have lived over 2 years. Feed them calcium/protein tabs also. If you feed them they wont need to escape. Feed your snails 🐌
Doing daily top up and the loud filters are what kinda annoys me. I don't prefer doing daily maintenance in fact i do water change once or twice a month that's why i have bigger tanks. Floating plants also annoy me when they overgrew my other plants. Much as i don't want to remove them coz i know they help a lot in getting rid of nitrate but they totally fill the whole tank literally!
the one thing that annoys me in my dutch scape is it takes so long to make the plants perfectly alligned and looking great and then you have to trim them😂 why cant plants grow to perfection and stay like that😂😂
Most annoying part in this hobby the bluegreen algae which keeps coming back. I am thinking of getting rid of my tank and starting over. The more funny part are my siamese algae eaters constantly begging for food every time I just want to watch tv in peace lol. I see them jumping against the front glass at the corner of my eye. They are skittish too and jump into the lid and hurt themselves. I have learned to walk on tiptoes when nearby because they hear my footseps and get freaked out by that..😂 One of them is also superfat and steals food from others.
What is freaking annoying me is that every four or five minute there is a two minute commercial. This is worse than TV. I don’t like when you have to be a soldier and be ready and prepared to push the button in order not to be annoyed, especially when youare doing something manual while watching and then you need to stop everything you’re doing to skip the commercial. Hello creator of this video do you have an option to reduce the commercials?

Very informative video, hoping for part 10!
Haha I’m sure we’ll find 10 parts worth of things to complain about 😂 will have to make a 10 things I love about aquariums too tho to balance it out 🤭
Love your channel Danny. Thank you for sharing another awesome video with us 🤘🏻
If you want to discourage nerites from climbing out you can put self-adhesive velco strips at any gaps and they don't want to go over it!
Hi Danni, what shelf is that with the aquariums and terrariums?
Hi, it’s a Fjallbo from Ikea :)
