- Today I have compiled plenty of HORRIBLE Umpire calls way out of the zone with Announcer's disdain for the calls. Let me know which one you enjoyed the most. Subscribe for plenty of content in/offseason!
Take care of yourself :)

what did walker do to these umpires 😭
these umps will wonder how they lost their jobs to robotic ball/strikes calls
Sooner than later❤❤
i felt bad for christian walker
Seiya Suzuki gets hosed too. It’s pretty weak
Mannnnnn, did Walker insult the umpires union or something? Almost looks like he was being singled out. Wow.
That pitch was so high I saw a joint drop!
And the real tragedy is that a player will get ejected for saying anything to the ump about these calls.
If you are bad at your job as a player, you get sent down to the minors and potentially lose your job.
Umps have no punishment for being this bad. No stakes to be better.
Until Umps Are Held Accountable This Is The Kind Of Stuff You Will See.
I know it will never happen, but wouldn't it be refreshing to see a pitcher argue about how bad that called 3rd strike was. 😮😮
“Wow”, “ooh”, “woah”, “no, no, no”, “oh”, “awful”, “what”, “That might have been the worst one of the day”.
The robots are coming, and the umps will have only themselves to blame.
The worst part about these is the fact you can tell they’re literally foaming at the mouth to throw these guys out if they complain
Should also have an unwritten rule. Anytime a catcher moves the glove, it's a near automatic ball called because chances are the pitch is out of the strike zone.
There was a call against the twins that was about in the dirt, it was a really good framing job but the umpire had to have had his eyes closed
It’s getting worse every year.
I’d love to see the worst ball calls, pitches in the zone called balls!
I was thinking of including it, I'll make a separate video. Thank you for the recommendation!
Glad I can help in some way! Appreciate the content!
Some of those pitches went over..........the batter's box on the opposite side the batters stood. WOW! Some strike zone.
I love it when the announcers tell it like it is…”that’s a bad call…that’s a ball…that wasn’t even close” and so on. Plus, if the catcher frames it, it’s an automatic strike.
Just as we have seen with instant replay, the umpires get it wrong a fair percentage of the time.
Some plays are so close that you know that they're just guessing, which means that replays show that they simply guessed correctly on really close plays.
This is why balls and strikes will be called electronically within five years. Before that, managers will be able to challenge these calls separately from other challenges.
At least 50% of the time. UNACCEPTABLE👎👎👎!!!
I honestly can’t believe how these batters just turn around and walk to the dugout. I would lose my frickin mind on these umps
1:12 that strike zone looks a bit low
0:57 he’s looking right at the pitch!
Something has got to be done. These umps have nobody to answer to.
The Nationals got mad unlucky with the calls this season
Bad home plate calls and reduced attendance. The end of MLB
You know what I think would be fun to do if I was one of these hitters getting such bullshit calls?
As soon as the ump called it a strike, I would stick my bat WAY over to where the ball actually was, and yell at my entire team on the bench, "Hey guys, the strike zone is WAY over here today. Make sure you leap while swinging."
Basically just make the ump look like a complete dumbass without ever saying a word to him or arguing with him.
And if I got ejected for it anyway, I'd tell him while leaving the field, "Good, who wants to play anyway with a blind dumbass calling such bullshit calls all game. I'll come back when you get some glasses and can actually SEE what you're doing."
That would be such a fun way to handle it.
You do know that will get you immediately ejected, don't you?
@@alanhess9306 You do know I already mentioned getting ejected in my comment, don't you?
Apparently not, since you made an unnecessary comment that I had already addressed.
Maybe pay attention next time BEFORE posting something. 🤔🤔🤔
@@joshuaburba1048 You're right, I didn't read the entire comment. My apologies. Of course, having read the last paragraph, you would suffer additional penalties.
@@alanhess9306 Oh I agree, I'm sure I would suffer additional penalties. But my main point was that, in such a situation, I would no longer care about the penalties. It would just be enjoyable to screw with the umpire.
I appreciate you going back to read it all and admitting you hadn't the first time. That was very honest of you and I admire that. Thank you.
@@joshuaburba1048 You are welcome. As an umpire of 33 years I don't like to see umpires being bashed is all. So many casual fans on youtube don't understand what is like to do the job.
This video could also be called, “The Case For A.I. Umpires.”
The batters know better than anyone if it’s a strike or not. Clearly the MLB umpires association doesn’t do eye exams anymore, if they ever did. This is straight ridiculous dude.
7:35 Magnificent framing by the catcher.
How these players don’t lose their mind like Schwarber every time I have no idea.
This is your average high school strike zone
Some of these you could argue maybe, *just maybe* might have caught the very edge of the plate but it doesn't look it because of the camera angle. But the ones that never leave that batter's box? No excuse there. The MLB umpires must have the strongest union in the country to somehow protect the ones that are so pathetic that there is no excuse for them. Bad calls like this can alter a franchise's fortunes and future. (see the 1997 Game 5 NLCS game with Livan Hernandez's country-mile-wide strike zone as an example) MLB needs to figure out a method for accountability for the umps.
6:12 - Judge gets a couple hundred of these every year.
Reminds me of the song "3 blind mice"
Catchers are taught how to jerk the mitt. They’re getting better at it. Umpires have to get better at recognizing it.
Do the coaches have a drs system like cricket it seems that would help ,if the coach thinks a strike three is wrong then call a protest a second upstairs umpire looks at the vision then makes the call
Tradition, my *ss. Bring on electronic balls and strikes and fire Angel Hernandez.
the epitome of incompetence
Surprising that NONE of these, were by Angel Hernandez!
Given how much every team that plays the Yankees complains about the “Yankee strike zone” I expected to see more Yankee pitchers on here getting calls. 🤷🏼♂️
The Comentaters are better umpires than umpires at the plate, even I knew those were balls, Dumb Umpires
Many of the commentators forget that the ball needs to pass ABOVE the plate to be a strike (in addition to being the right height). It is 3-dimensional. It doesn't matter where the catcher catches the ball relative to the rectangle that the program is drawing. That could be way off the plate and it could still be a strike if the ball passed above the place and then moved a lot outward, which happens in many of these pitches when, e.g., the pitchers throws from the right side and the pitch ends up on the left side of the plate.
People want to see more scoring but it’s pretty tough when umpires invent new strike zones
I hope to live long enough to see the year umpires are not needed behind the plate.
Really? You might get your wish. Sure seems like it's heading that way. But that with the replay... What will we have to complain about? We'll have to admit our team got beat legitimately instead of blaming it on the ref/ump.
I personally like getting pissed off and yelling at my TV.
If it hits the zone give the umps a shock.
Do players even want an ump behind the plate? Too many times they make calls that affect the outcome of the game, and honestly it's unreasonable to expect them to make accurate calls for the length of a whole game. Especially when they are trying to track these projectiles moving 100+mph. It's not that people think they are biased or doing anything on purpose, it's just literally impossible to call a game perfectly accurate. They should just take a big bite of humble pie for the sake of the games integrity. I mean, if tennis refs can rely on the cameras tracking a ball moving that fast and making accurate calls withing millimeters of tolerance, baseball should be able to do the same.
For that to happen, the on screen boxes need to be fixed. According to these boxes, every player on every team is the exact same height and uses the exact same stance. Nothing can be further from the truth.
Right? And the angle we see on TV isn't necessarily that close to the proper angle. Throw in some really nice frame jobs, and even if we can all agree that the eyesight of 55+ year old men probably shouldn't be relied on to make these calls, a lot of these are probably way closer than it seems.
@@Ghostrider6A You are correct, not only is the box inaccurate, the position of the ball seems to be showing where the pitch was caught instead of where it was when it crossed the plate.
Further making the case for ABS!
If I were one of these hitters, I might congratulate the catcher on the framing of the pitch. "Great job, man. That was a foot outside and you framed it as a strike." I'm not showing up the umpire, just complimenting the catcher.
Yeeeeeah you’d probably still get tossed by a few of em lol
That pitch to Carlos Santana almost hit him.
Umps are human and they are bound to make these kinds of mistakes. But the league knows that some umps are just better than others at seeing where the ball crosses the plate, etc. They should identify those umps and make them permanent home-plate umpires, and have those guys on each crew. The union wouldn't like that, but the players would.
Merrill Kelly game 2 of the WS, nothing like it.
Technology has outgrown the umpire and it is time to automate strikes. It would also remove fixes… so maybe it will never happen.
Rename this: the nationals being bullied
:,)
How was Wilson Contreras vs. Pirates not in here?
Time to have electronic ball and strike calls. Actually, it was time for that ten years ago.
CB Bucknor should be half this video lol
Washington always getting screwed lol
Fell bad for those first basemen in this vid.
Where was Angel Hernandez ?
I would hope that these clips are submitted to MLB as part of umpire evaluations. NONE of these were even close, so something is clearly wrong.
Many of those were routinely called strikes in the 90s in the NL. Umps would give pitchers several inches off the plate. Then of course there was Eric Gregg, who would give up to 2 feet off the plate
so they'll know it was a strike.
What would happen if one of these bad calls should have given the batter first base and he decides to take the base and ignore the call? I would love to see it. And refuse to leave the field. Total insubordination.
To answer your question, the batter would be ejected and suspended.
@alanhess9306 obviously, but at this point, who would remove the player from the field. Police? I am taking this to the extreme. I have never seen this happen, and Sportsmanship has always prevailed, but wouldn't you just love to see someone do this? I would.
@@alonzobean1 The umpires would not continue the game until the ejected player leaves the field. After a short period of time, the game would be suspended and MLB would make the call as to whether a forfeit would be appropriate. Doesn't sound like a good way to help your team.
@alanhess9306 apparently you want the argument. I don't care about helping or not helping the team. The point which has gone way over your head was to bring moooor attention to the bad umpiring. Now tell me something else serious about baseball. Kirk Out and done.
@@alonzobean1 Umpiring is better now than it has ever been thanks to replay review and several slow motion replays from different angles.
You asked what would happen if a player ignores a call and takes first base. I told you what would happen. Your point is nonsense. Now you tell me anything, anything serious at all about baseball.
Since catchers get no love, they make up for it with frames.....
I dont watch alot of baseball. But it looks like that the strike zone. Needs to be from batters box to batters box.
Bill Miller had a lot of these
Spills over into 2024...
watch for how many of these the umpire is set up on the opposite side of the plate from the pitch. they need to set up in the middle all the time...
Well they are taught to set up in the position called the “slot”. They don’t stand middle middle behind the catcher because believe it or not it’s actually a worse angle. Also another reason is if they stand in the middle they are much more likely to get rocked by a foul ball. It’s a safety thing.
@@cartermaymon8387 From a 30 yr umpire, div 1 many years, well said! Middle of the plate is the worst place both bc you are completely blocked by the catcher (which most dont understand bc they have only seen pitches from center field camera) and as you mentioned very dangerous place to be! Thanks for actually having a clue! Don't see that much on You Tube comments! lol BE well
@@dperl5640 I umpire as well my friend so I know exactly what it’s like to get rocked by the foul ball. These keyboard umpires don’t know a thing and I just laugh. Take care and have a good season next year.
Thanks for your input Randy, but you don't know wtf you are talking about.

I get that there are some bad calls and we all have to expect that from time to time. But some of these strikes look worse than what they actually are. The strike zone box they show is not consistent from game to game. I will always blame a batter with two strikes taking a pitch two inches outside and getting a third strike called. Don't leave it to the umpire to decide your fate. A big part of what makes a catcher good is framing the ball and making close pitches look good. Make framing pitches illegal and and I bet the umpires get more consistent.
Umps should be suspended
I love that the commentators are all experts only because they have the box as a guide and umpires don’t.
That are also not being paid nor got hired to be a professional pitch caller there Goober
