Very nice cars man ! I like all old cars . I have a old 66 belvedere 383 4speed I put together from parts from 19 junk cars ! I need to get back at it !! Thanks for the videos !!!
I noticed your convertible has the factory single pot master cylinder. The brakes have gone out twice on my ‘55 Belair. Luckily both times I was able to keep the car under control using the parking brake. I finally converted to a dual pot master cylinder off a ‘68 Chevelle. The conversion was super easy. You have some nice cars. Keep on keeping on.
Sorry for the inconvenience! It is not 2014 although I wish it was! Once the video is posted I can't go back and edit. Should have watched the video first before uploading. Have a good day everyone.
Hi Don, that era of the Chevy’s was one of the best. My mom and dad brought me home in a ‘55. Very cool channel. I’ll be following you. Thanks for visiting mine. Have a great week!
Hey Bill That's pretty cool man. My dad took my mom to the hospital to have me in a 55 Chevy. The amount of people connected to a 55 chevy is pretty big.. Have a good one Buddy
To me there is nothing better than finishing one or two little things. Thats what gives you the knowledge that you accumulate during a project. I always enjoy your videos as well as your explanation of how things work. Thanks Don.
Thanks for the video those flashes are bizarre that was really high-tech for back in the day have a great day cool cars thanks I remember when Nomads were cheap Oh yeah that was 45 years ago man I'm really old have a great day I'll keep watching thanks to the inspiration I can't build cars or racing anymore but I can enjoy this
Keep on bringing your knowledge however slow or fast I’m just fascinated by what you know. And love your love of tri five Chevys. Bring us content when you can it’s greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I love your videos Don no matter what they are about. Your cars are so nice I did some welding the other day which my welding skills aren't what they use to be ill be 63 next Monday I hate to see what's going to happen when I get older...lol. I love how to get your cars as close to factory as possible those tiny details you work on makes the car so much nicer ive only seen those little lights on 1 other 55 in a video awhile back but I don't think they were working the guy had a few on a 55 hot rod that was pretty nice it was the one that came with no back seat.
So far so good. You’re doing great! Wish I knew more about the 55s to give you some info. I’ve had several but didn’t pay that much attention Was more into the 57s. Enjoy your videos, big time!
Looks like a nice day out in the garage! The convertible is really looking great! The Gypsy Red dash with those under dash lights look great! Under the hood is looking really sharp too! They did such a great job on those flashers, it is really cool to see the color of those glass bulbs! Great job on the flag too! Take care Don and I hope you guys have a great week!
Thanks Jeff! It sure was a nice weekend and I had a good time with the cars. Man Gypsy red on a 55 chevy is as good as it gets. I was torn to put it back red on the outside also but I think black will really look nice. I love the little accessories of the 50s there so unique. Later Buddy
I believe the lower hole on the throttle is for a kick down on an automatic. The oil filler tube should have a recess circling the tube, just under the breather cap for a wire ring with a point for the carb spring. The factory upgraded to the tab they spot welded to the tube sometime in 56. This is the best I can remember from my service station days in the 70s
@@donshotrodgarage1717 Yeah they really look great at night when you open the doors to see the back floor. Get some out of a newer car 64 to 72 and fit them. Nobody will know.( except me & my dog, ) and we ain't much on talkin to strangers! 😉Tell everybody it's a VERY RARE option!
Don, The nichrome wire in the headllight switch might be broken or there is corrosion on the contacts from the wire to the tab that the I think its the gray wire on the inside top dash lights connect to. Try spraying the wiper with contact cleaner or replace the headlight switch. Mine intermittents, so they will not fade the dash lights. On the emergency brake light, try taking the assembly a part. Usually, there are springs between the small brass contacts that the wire is crimped to where it goes inside. If you have to redrill it, you can solder it easier. If you even have a little ball of solder on the bulb side file it smooth it will be okay as long as there is spring pressure under the bulb. Use a little exstra flux when you solder it will prevent you from melting the insulation if the wire and if you solder the lug out side the housing you will not melt it. When the soldered wire cools wash the excess flux off with rubbing alcohol then fish the wire back through the hole. You will have a bettet fix with out damaging the bottom if it's plastic. It's looking good and you know as the weather gets warmer, you will have more time. Enjoy the eclipse today and wear your older type welding glasses or the special glasses. Once I saw your flashers, I realized I have 2 of them and did not know where they came from. Whell now, I know. Thanks for the information.
Man you have cornered the market on those ebrake indicators. 😊. I wonder if you couldn't find original if a turn signal flasher would work? I suppose it would? Thanks for the update brother
Yeah man you could say so. I needed to have the correct 650 flasher in all 3 of these cars. They blink at a different rate. You might be able to use a regular turn signal flasher I'm not sure. Have a good one Buddy 👍
You might check the little fuse on the end of the headlight switch. It might be blown. Don’t know if it was suggested by someone else. If l remember correctly it’s for dash lights.
Keep some lubricant in that engine, hopefully it will eventually come loose and rotate. That or get yourself some evaporust and a big enough container... something will eventually work. Have a good day brother
Really good video Big Don, cool parts, hard to come by, catch you soon buddy 😀😀

Sometimes just getting something little feels like a great thing to me too Don. Keep picking away at it.

Thanks Buddy! That sure does make sense on the kick down linkage. This is a stick shift so I might use the hole for a return spring. Later
Most GM converts had curtesy lights in the rear arm rests down by the floor & under the dash at the front kick panels as a option.
Yeah I've seen that before in the back area. This car did not have any rear lighting. I may try to wire some up at some point. Later Buddy

There was also a tab that went on an intake bolt . Also the oil spout can be changed .
Thanks Buddy! I'll look around for that tab. Later
