  • The T'au were the army that got me back into 40K and their lore often gets overlooked. This should hopefully be a good summation of my favourite part of the T'au, the students of Puretide. This includes the recently four-armed Shadowsun, 40K's rebel bad boy Farsight and the silent but deadly Kais.
    Spoilers:
    • Farsight
    • Farsight: Crisis of Faith
    • Farsight: Empire of Lies
    • Shadowsun: The Last of Kiru's Line
    • Blades of Damocles
    • Damocles
    • War of Secrets

    Happy to see a Tau video by someone who actually LIKES the Tau and reads their lore for fun! So many videos just gloss over the lore and don't really talk about anything other than "Ethereal Bad." Love the video, keep it up!

    Ah, Kais was cool. Never knew he had a name. Tau were incredibly fun in Dawn of War and they had the most effective HQ. That game made me enjoy Tau quite a bit. The Kroot in action, eating the dead was hilarious. :)

    Man, i wish we got O'kais and O'Res'kas models, they are both so cool and interesting... weget shafted when we have so many possibilities to be as cool and badass, i mean, O'kais killed 12 space marines in their fortress temple and also solo'ed a lord of change!

    I don't know how I missed this gem of a video before but this is really well made. It's always wonderful to hear about the T'au this way. They have such interesting characters with interesting personalities, and GW NEEDS to understand the sheer potential they have. Push them more into the lime light. If 9th edition has proved anything with the Necrons, it's that giving love to the Xenos factions does nothing but good for them.

    I wonder if farsight’s prophetic dreams and the fact that some of the chaos gods were interested in him means that he might be a form of latent psyker. Which would make him the tau’s first psyker if I’m not mistaken

    • @SandmanofTerra
      @SandmanofTerra  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah, he would be the first, and it will be interesting to see if his long life span has affected the "size" of his soul

    • @calebbarnhouse496
      @calebbarnhouse496 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It would suck if they made him a psyker, part of what's cool about the tau is how much they don't play by the rules of the galaxy, sticking out makes them very unique, giving farsight psyker powers would weaken that simply due to setting a precedence, if the tau need to get a psyker, they should either have there auxiliary races fill that role, (even if they then stick them in a battlesuit) or have psykers be something the tau empire makes by splicing psyker genes with human genes, which could be used to explain why chaos and tyranids have went after them considering they have next to no pull in the warp, so neither should have bothered

    I really hoped that we get a heavy plasma cannon team designed for Kauyon playstyle in the future. Like a Stealth lasscannon team perfect for anti-terminator units or for defensive games. I mean we got the stormsurge and the supremacy but something that would fill the role in the middle and without taking many points.

    It seems strange that the tau earth caste haven't cracked the code on genetic engineering to extend the lifespan of thier people. The imperium has genetically engineered people to live for centuries why couldn't the tau? Perhaps the tau could use cybernetics to extend lifespan as well.

      For Monat specifically it's more for the mental isolation of the individuals. War of Secrets mention how the Ethereal leader wanted him to be interred as he thought Kais being around other people would make his practice of Monat less pure.

    In the book where the Chapter Master dies, there's a bit of meta commentary from the narrator that Severax would probably be impressed by the deception pulled off to kill him. I like to think it would be similar to Jurassic Park's "Clever Girl"

    • @michelecastellotti9172
      @michelecastellotti9172 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that people tend to get mad at that bit because severax is a master of stealth and ambush, but thats the thing, she Didn't just use stealth, she used deception by allowing a shas'vre to pilot her suit in her stead, making its presence clear and making itself a target for a marine that had lost too many battle brothers to her, so when he had yhe chance he struck and did kill the impostor quite easily... unfortunayely for him shadowsun was in another suit right behind him and fusion blasted him to death while he was pridefully looking at what he believed to be yet another of his MANY victories.
      Its really not unfair, shadowsun too advantage of astartes prideful to a fault tendencies and won by sacrificing one of her soldiers in order to achieve victory.

      @@michelecastellotti9172 people get mad because the space marine got knocked down a peg, space marines fill a terrible space in the lore where they'll lose half a chapter worth of marines in a single fight, but somehow still have enough to fight in 5 other sectors of the same war zone without any signs of a lack of manpower

    Just making a quick side comment ahead of watching, unrelated to the specific contents of the video itself.
    Seeing that first frame with those four artworks before hitting play on the video, as great as the art itself is, does anyone else find it a little tiresome how many 40k artists seem to take a strangely specific glee in depicting Tau getting brutalised by basically every other faction in the setting? Like, they're one of the smallest factions numerically, with the overall least level of involvement in the galaxy at large, and yet every artist under the sun wants to show their favourite faction holding up a fire warrior by the neck. This is even despite how in most of these encounters (if they exist at all) the Tau canonically won the conflict. You don't see the same against guardsmen, orcs or any other faction even half as often.
    What I wanna know, is where's all the art of a Firewarrior melting the face off of an overly brazen Space Marine mid charge in a dramatic flash of plasma? Where's the art of an Imperial titan falling to the ground in flames as it's struck clean through by a Tigershark's railguns? Where is the limbless husk of a defeated Necron lord, staring up in contempt as a Tau warrior a millionth of his age, levels a pulse blaster to his head?
    We've got at least a few nice illustrations of Crisis Suits usually firing off blasts vaguely off screen, but I'd love to see more artists dare to show it properly. Lets see those fusion blasters slicing through thousand year old decorated marines like they're unarmoured fodder.
    Anyway... rant over. Gonna watch the vid now. :v
