  • Learn how to convert from the limit of a Riemann sum to a definite integral. This is the beginning of integration by understanding it as the area under the curve with n equal-width rectangles and then taking the limit as n goes to infinity. This is a very important calculus 1 topic and it usually confuses many students. However, after this video, you will fully understand Riemann sums vs definite integrals.

SUPER HELPFUL! Thanks so much for posting this. As a calculus tutor, I frequently find that the focus on integrals is so heavy and it frequently seems to be what students want the most help with, resulting in my forgetting all the nuts and bolts of things like conversions of Reimann sums into definite integrals and vice versa. Great video!

Going to do an integration unit for my calculus class in January. This is really helpful to get a solid introduction and foundation in it. Great timing thank you!

I really hate to use "i" as index in maths as "i" can represent imaginary number, although it is common to use "i" as index in programming.

All it takes is some awareness to context to know that i is not representing the complex number here.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with using the same letter to represent different things under different contexts. We do that all the time with many other letters, as well as greek letters.
