  • AKA The great Veloster N Spare tire debacle
    In this video we select a compact spare tire that meets all of the fitment requirements for a Veloster N with Performance Package.
    It must:
    -Fit over the brakes (18" minimum)
    -Fit in the spare tire well
    -5x114.3 pcd
    -67.1 hub centric diameter
    It shouldn't be that hard, should it?

    Thanks for your post. I wished I saw this before I had the misfortune of getting a flat. Now I’m in the search for the correct wheel and tire size assembly. Cheers!

    Thanks for the info! I copied your set up now and it all worked perfectly. I got a slashed tire in Atlanta, 500 miles away from home. Seven local Hyundai dealers in the area and not a single one carried our size tire. It was a nightmare. I'll never take a road trip again without a spare! My next trip is in 3 weeks, so I appreciate the timing of your video. Great work!

    Thanks for this man. I've put like 7k miles on in 3 months, and the thought of needing a spare has definitely crossed my mind 😂

      Get one there may be that time when your in the middle of nowhere and wished you had one don't trust plug kits and think maybe your tread could separate trying to get off the road or side wall damage.

    The Hyundai Store has a spare tire that comes with a jack and everything you need.

    I have a 2020 Veloster turbo and it comes with a set of tools that includes a jack. Funny thing is that I found the spare underneath the facade flooring as I wanted to lightly steam clean it after accidentally spilling liquor lmao!

    Really you only have to be able to clear the back brakes, which are smaller. I'd never put a dummy tire on my drive wheels. Unless you get the outside diameter of the dummy tire the exact same size as stock you'll be working that differential pretty hard. Also put the car in gear and the wheel wont spin when you're trying to tighten it. Park brake for back wheels.

    it would have been helpful to see where to place the lift without messing up your frame ?

    Hmmmm. I understand why full size spares aren’t a stock thing anymore, but it’d be nice to have a hole big enough for one.

    I popped a tire in my Veloster while on a work trip in Ohio. Everywhere was closed. I had to leave my car and would have cost me a fortune to tow. Ended up driving it half a mile down the road spinning the tire on the rim. If I still had that car I would be doing this.

    Any way you could post the part numbers/manufacturer for the wheel and tire combo that worked? or where you bought them? I'd love to get a spare that works. I've shredded my fair share of tires and I'm dreading the day it happens in my VN, I hate dealing with getting towed.

    • @NickMakesBreaksStuff
      @NickMakesBreaksStuff  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching! I bought the wheel and tire seperately on ebay. The wheel is an 18" alloy compact spare, which came on Genesis Coupes and sedans. Be careful though, because there is also a 17" version that looks roughly the same. The tire is a Yokohama donut, size T135/70D18

    If god forbid u got a front flat somewhere wouldn’t it be best (but PITA) to put the donut on one off the rears and put the rear OEM up front to protect the eLSD? And to stop that damn light that says check eLSD.. someone said putting a donut up there could cause damage to the diff. However one would also think that if the OD of the spare is the exact same size as the OEM wheel then it’s be all good.

    • @NickMakesBreaksStuff
      @NickMakesBreaksStuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's correct, you would only want to put the spare on the rear if you can, though if the spare is the exact same diameter, the eLSD will be fine to get you home.

    Does all Veloster’s come with that foam panel and a tow hook?

    • @NickMakesBreaksStuff
      @NickMakesBreaksStuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure. I would imagine any car that doesn't have a spare but has a spare tire well, will need the foam to support the trunk floor.

    That's awesome. May I ask what is the manufacturer part number for the wheel locks you have. Is it U8440 00400 or U8440 00501?? Cause I'm seeing conflicting information on their sites. Thanks in advance, bro.

    I just wanted to add that u could have saved yourself some money from getting towed bc all of the 19 veloster n comes with can of fix of flat and air compressor. Which is what I had to do when I got flat and actually left it on for 2 weeks bf going to get new tire

    • @NickMakesBreaksStuff
      @NickMakesBreaksStuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is certainly an option in some cases, but Fix A Flat is useless for sidewall punctures or larger tread punctures. Sometimes you really just need a spare.
      For instance, my flat tire occurred on the highway due to a sidewall puncture. The tire went flat very quickly and by the time I was able to pull off the road tire was completely destroyed. Many people with Veloster Ns, especially those with 19" wheels, are experiencing tire and rim damage from potholes as well. Fix a Flat cannot fix a broken rim.
      I totally get that irreparable flats are very rare, but I just feel more comfortable carrying around a spare even if I may never use it.

    How does the 18” rim/tire work on a 19” performance package set up? No difference?

    • @NickMakesBreaksStuff
      @NickMakesBreaksStuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      My car is a performance pack, 18” is as small as you can go.
