    I visited cairn T a couple of days ago. Really nice spot and as you said some lovely views. 360 degree views. I also visited Fore Abbey which is only about a 10 minute drive or less from Loughcrew and definitely worth a look for anyone planning a trip in that direction I would say.

    Mr Murphy, I wish you would do more live stuff from Loughcrew. This was the first megalithic site I visited while I was in Ireland and set me off on a path of discovery on the many ancient sites in Ireland. It is a nice hike to the cairn but is well worth it! Took a bit to "find the key" but once more was worth the time invested. This place and Fourknocks is much more personal then Newgrange, as much as I loved Newgrange, Loughcrew is every bit as nice if not nicer. With the hags chair and the other many places around it, more are off limits to the average tourist, when I visited them, I was alone for all of my stay, I felt the power of the sites much more so then Newgrange. I feel places like this offers more and should be held as high in regard. So if you can please take your camera up there and show the beauty of Loughcrew! Thanks for taking the time in posting these clips!

      I just did!!
      THANKS!!
      What a BEAUTIFUL day, all sun and ZERO clouds, wow! I so love that landscape, such beauty! So lucky to be available at anytime to visit places like Loughcrew when you feel the need, I admire you, please keep it up as I really enjoy seeing places like this being visited with such enthusiasm and excitement as I had when I visited. Your passion bleeds through these videos, may thanks in taking the time in doing so!
      When building the cairns, I wonder if the cross was accidental in that it was needed to maximize the light affect OR if there was some other reason for this, I never asked while out and about on my journeys this past spring to your beautiful country. Sad they way some cairns were destroyed by the excavators, they had to know the importance of them and should have paid more respect to them! Is there any word on restoring some of them to preserve them? So many questions and sadly few outlets to read, please keep up the GREAT WORK!
      CHEERS!

      Thanks also for your enthusiasm! I'm glad you enjoy the videos, etc. I love exploring ancient Ireland. It's my greatest passion I think. Don't forget I also have Mythical Ireland on Facebook!

    I've been going up Cairn T since i was a toddler. My father actually used to give guided tours around the place. Come up on not too bad of a day and you will be let inside the tomb itself no bother. Lovely place

    I wonder what that circle is at 3:47 in the top right corner north of the house

    • @johnnycallaghan
      @johnnycallaghan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The circle in the field opposite is an old iron age ring fort, or fairy fort as some people call them. There are loads of them in this area.

    I love how you did this. I didn't know Loughcrew had so many sites included in it.

    Pascal firey mounds, I like it. The Caileach Mhor story is also found in a video by Ádhamh Ó Bhróinn in Dal Riata.

    Do all the entrances to the cairns face in a South-easterly direction?

    • @mythicalireland
      @mythicalireland  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Some face east, others northwest. Different orientations.

      @@mythicalireland have you gathered accurate dimensions and measurements for the newly discovered henge in newgrange. Might you have a link? Radius of two outer rings, two inner rings? are the gaps equidistant?
      Do they stop at what appears to be a rectangular entrance or do they complete the circle?

    • @mythicalireland
      @mythicalireland  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lallyoisin Yes, and there's a little more detail about this in my forthcoming book too. Check out this blog post: www.mythicalireland.com/MI/blog/ancient-sites/the-newgrange-henge-a-preliminary-investigation-of-possible-astronomical-alignment/

    OMG! I just realized you're (the host) actually a Murphy..
    I know - there's enough to start our own country, but when ya live in a corner of Dixie (not choice nor forever) - it's a warm tinkling through my tummy to know there's truly family out there and Far more appealing than the sibings of such Narcissist behavior, I had to endure a lifetime.
    Awe........ Murphy, Sullivan, Lynch, Cole ....
