I am loving your videos, please continue making more! It's wonderful to hear about your journey and how sewing your own clothes correlated with appreciating yourself more - I have had the same experience. In regard to content, I find that I rely on sewing TH-camrs to show me the potential of a pattern, because for some reason, when I see a pattern on a company website, it never inspires me as much as when I see another sewist talk about it!
Awww, Hilda, thanks so much! I’m glad to hear that making your own clothes has helped you in that regard as well 🤗💛 I totally agree- I love getting inspo from other sewists and seeing their take on a certain pattern! Thanks for watching 💛💛
Thank you for this video! I especially appreciate you sharing that making your own clothes allowed you to be kinder to your body - that point resonated heavily.
It was lovely to hear your back story and how you got into me made clothing 😊 I would love to see some upcycling videos and any beginner friendly makes. Oh and also maybe a video of all the mistakes you have made and how to avoid them.
Oooooh, ok, I could definitely pack a video full of mistakes I’ve made over the years 😅 (and how to avoid!) thanks for the idea, and thanks for watching, Niki!💛💛
Thanks for sharing. I like the way you tell your story, it's inspiring and energizing. 😊 I am slowly coming back to making my own clothes and channels like yours are very important. Subscribed and looking forward to seeing more of your creations.
So excited to have found your channel! Been knitting my own clothes for about a year and hand weaving my own cloth but my sewing machine is just sitting there. Sewing feels so scary! But i want to slowly make my whole wardrobe sustainably. Nice to find channels like yours to give me the courage. 💙🤍✨
Thank you so much. And I’m sorry…hand weaving your own cloth?!?? AMAZING! I bow down to you- that is such a cool skill I hope to try someday! I’d love to see your work 💛💛
Love your videos!! As a beginner I found them encouraging, helpful and simply refreshing! I really appreciate all the advice you have and most of all sharing your experiences help me to apply it to my own path….SO THANK YOU!!! Love to see more step by step flips/ transformation which is where I just started. I’m all about sustainability in regards of reusing and recycling old or unused clothing, I thinks there is an endless source. As a beginner and just because I have a men suit that is just there and would love to flip it for my self would be great if you would considered doing something in that area😊
Thank you so much for saying that, Flor- it felt so good to read this! 🤗 As far as flips / refashions go- stay tuned because I have a transformation video coming out in the next couple of weeks 😉
Please make a video about „how to choose fabrics“. I really struggle. I‘m also in ethical fabrics and brands. I would also like something about improving the fit of garments/ adjusting a pattern befor sewing a mock up.
These are such great ideas, thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely continue to work toward these types of videos, but for now, I do have a video about how to shop for sustainable fabrics with a few resources provided. If you haven't seen it yet, you can view it here: th-cam.com/video/vjfgzfKtVs0/w-d-xo.html thanks for watching! 💛
Just found your channel and this video first!! And I sub as fast as I could!! I dabble in this a bit here and there and would love to get more in to making my own .. and not cause I don't like store bought but I don't know but making my own feels like a calling for lack of a better way to put it... I like the thought of having what no one else does and saying hey I made this when they ask!! ... one item at a time as I get better and better... I will be following for everything you can think of to make lol cause I just want to see all of it .. sewing, knitting , crochet (if you crochet) etc! Just all of it !! ... I would love to see everything you do either jeans!!!! .. threw any mistakes and what you do to make them fit better all of it!!!
YES!!! Thanks, friend!! I know I’m going through a lot of changes around here on the channel, but the crafty fun will always be apart of it (as well as all of the mistakes made along the way, haha!) Thanks so much for being a part of the journey, happy to have you here with me ✨💛✨
I am self taught in knitting, crochet and sewing. Sewing has been a little harder because I don’t have anyone around to help me learn. Any advice is truly appreciated.
My best advice is to show no fear and dive right in. I’m self taught, and let me tell ya that Google can take you far! The best way to learn is by doing. For every frustration I’ve faced, it’s taught me SO MUCH! Have fun, and happy making! 💛💛
I have found myself running craft workshops for teens this summer, 6 tuesdays, to Knit, Crochet and Sew Simple Clothing. My normal Tuesday evening craft group has had me teaching a few people to knit or crochet and that led me to offering workshops when the community centre was asked about school holiday activities . . . I LOVE the idea of a Summer Capsule Wardrobe . . . I am starting with pyjama bottom style trousers and shorts, with either granny square vests or simple knitted vest tops for those waiting their turn on the two sewing machines . . . Sarongs are an idea, as is a gored skirt and Thai fisherman's pants. Any ideas for simple t-shirt style tops? I have no idea where to start with darts, zips or button holes/plackets so l am certainly not capable of teaching that!
Oh this sounds so cool! I wanna go to summer craft workshops!! Friday Pattern Co. has a free t-shirt pattern that’s great for all genders, so that may be worth looking into! I also shared a couple free options in my summer patterns video, so that might be worth viewing as well for some ideas. Let me know how it goes, your work sounds incredible! 💛💛 Video linked here: th-cam.com/video/acUu8mbSICA/w-d-xo.html
My mom is an excellent seamstress and she has always been sewing. She made me pajamas when I was a kid, and she sews other projects now and then like maybe a padded bag for a laptop. Mostly she does alterations, for herself and for other people. She has fixed costumes for school plays, clothing for co workers, and clown costumes for the volunteer clown ministry she is part of. I am so amazed by the things she can do, but she is a terrible teacher 😅😅 I've never been able to learn from her. I'd love to find a place close to me to take lessons in person.
@@theMaidenMother Yes! Your tutorial videos make it feel very approachable. Even the non-sewing steps like pressing the seams in certain directions are super helpful and it's really nice that you show those.
Helping other people to make clothes or other items is so beneficial for the world. It helps make the world a better place.🥰
That’s super kind of you to say, thanks so much! It certainly brings me a lot of joy to do so 🤗💛
this was such a lovely story, well told, instant subscribe x
Thank you so much, Leena! Glad to have you here 🤗💛

I was crocheting dishclothes for my family, looking for something to watch, found this channel, and you basically described my journey. Tyty
Thanks so much for watching! AND for reminding me that I also need to make more dishcloths haha 💛💛
I just discovered your channel and instantly subscribed! Love your style and video!
Thanks for joining the party! Super glad to have you here 💛💛

Thanks, Nancy! 💛💛
Your voice is empowering
This is probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. Thank you so much for empowering me and for being here! 💛💛

WOW! Go mom! I will say, TH-cam is a fabulous teacher when you don't have anyone in-person as an option (it's how I learned!)

Are there patterns where a video on how to make it is included?
For some, yes there are! Helen’s Closet and Seamwork are two brands where “sew-alongs” are offered for some of their patterns.
Dopamine dressing, more of that
Heck yes! So glad to hear that you're on board with that!!
