This is a really good question. We have done many trials over the years and have found that indoor bonsai trees such ad the Fukien Tea Bonsai (Carmona) are best fed all year round. We use this bonsai fertiliser once a week throughout the year. www.bonsaidirect.co.uk/product/liquid-bonsai-fertiliser-t92/. This is because the bonsai is evergreen and is growing all year round , albeit more slowly during the winter months. The bonsai seems to benefit from the extra nutrition. I hope this helps
Good question! The Fukien Tea Tree is a shrub that naturally grows to about 4 metres and it tends to have top heavy growth that is quite chunky. The best option to improve the taper is to prune the top third of the bonsai fairly hard to allow the bottom branches to grow out a little more than normal. This will increase the growth lower down the trunk and slow the growth at the top whilst helping the bottom of the trunk to thicken. Lloyd will try to make a video for you so keep an eye out. Hope this helps!
@@mcitykilla2632 I did suspect aphids. Soap will kill bonsai leaves, we are unsure why so many pages seem to advise this. You need to use a tested insecticide (if you are in the UK, we sell a few) and give the bonsai a course of treatment.
Great video and great information. Thx u BIG like
Thank you so much. We really appreciate it
Should you add feed during the winter months too? I.e. once a week all year round?

Good video great info. Thank you.
Thank you😀
I tend to struggle with creating a pleasing taper in this species. Do you have any suggestions you can share?

Lloyd has filmed a video about this, here is the link th-cam.com/video/odJqktPohLI/w-d-xo.html. We hope this helps!😀
Great video. My problem is when i keep it on the damp side, the little green bugs start to appear
Thank you! Are these little green flies that leave a white skin behind?
@BonsaiDirect I believe they are aphids. I tried a treatment mix of soap and water last season but it burnt all the leaves and they fell off.

What soil do you use for the Fukien?
Hi, we use a mix of well draining soil which has loam in it. For our more specimen and "premium" range, we use Akadama😀
What about using the water meters?
We don't recommend using any watering gadgets as they can be unreliable unless monitored very closely😃
I use Bonsai Supply's soil
