Seen Ritchie twice he's so iconic he's solos are legendary he made the strat the most important star of the show the strat is his weapon of magic nobody makes the strat sound the way it does like Ritchie he's a major Influence for today's many great guitar legends today yet being very humble
I just started thinking about his mighty discography lately. So much of it was influential to my music starting with his machine head /made in Japan ..and Ians JC SUPERSTAR. Then all Richies Rainbow 🌈 reinventing..so many great eras ..then Perfect Strangers. Man has nothing left to prove.

Deep Purple is one of the first rock bands that got me into music and singing. And Ritchie is my top favorite guitar player! Ian Gillan is great! And Glenn Hughes what a find!!! And Dio! And Ritchie is responsible for bringing those great singers to light!
Alright, but Glenn Hughes played bass. Singer of that time was David Coverdale. Both were the first to only get hired by Deep Purple; not as equal members as all before them. Thats why I never understood how David Coverdale could split Deep Purple. 🚀🏴☠️🎸
Deep purple were an exciting band when he was in it, all the great riffs came from him and he improvised every night. I saw him in1977 with rainbow my god the power and the melodic playing were out of this world, top three concerts to this day.
I would have appreciated to see Ritchie with John, David and Glenn (of course with other musicians as backing) playing songs from Deep Purple mark I, some of Deep Purple mark III, some from Come taste the Band, some of Rainbow, some of Blackmore Night, and of course a few from Whitesnake all of them showing John´s moments playing solo, as the principal star. That would have been unforgettable.
Being such a fan of Richie through Purple or Rainbow, My friends and I went to see a Blackmore's Knight show in NJ. We had no idea the following they have developed. Folks dressed up in Renaissance costumes. It was an interesting show and you can see and hear Ritchie familiar riffs embedded in the songs.
Its COMICAL hearing Ritchie talking about being the 'bad guy' & into those Hammer Horror Christopher Lee movies....Ritchie used to play with Screaming LORD SUTCH who onstage would come out of a COFFIN dressed as DRACULA....lol.... Plus he loved Seances & haunted Castles & stuff. Even RECORDING in them sometimes....In practical jokes he used to put wired Marshalls under floorboards of bedrooms & make monster loud guitar sounds making people leap out of bed at night....lol...While recording Fireball he even did a 'Here's Johnny' Axe at the Door moment in the Shining 9 years BEFORE Kubrick & Jack Nicholson put it on celluloid ......lol

Ritchie comes from the era when establishing your sound and persona mattered. You either cut out your turf or got lost in the sauce. Seems that a lot of modern players are technically great but indistinguishable. All the greats, from early 80s shredders back to the 1940s, sound like who they are. You know them in a few notes. I always liked Ritchie's energy. One of the only rock players I haven't tired of. Even the latest live Rainbow footage is good. Different from the old days, but old Ritchie still sounds like Ritchie - just different.
Genius often comes with insanity. I don't think he ever fully realized how gifted he was and still is because it comes so natural to him. And then there's the dark soul which is in fact just a mask?
The Hammer films. You can't get more British iconic than those productions... Brian Clemens, MG's, misty whimsical countryside. Seductive hopelessness.
Yeah, feeling content and being at peace with yourself is a good place to be....sort of creeps up on you and you realise you've been feeling chilled out for quite some time....still have arguments with my guitar, but l can live with that. I still get the odd visit from Benni, my dear little hound who passed away recently and that is a mixture of joy and sadness. Always loved Ritchie's style and tone back in the day. although it was the guitar break on Carol Kings 'Its Too Late' that first brought a Strat to my attention....then Ritchie Blackmore appeared on the scene wielding a Stratocaster and playing those eastern type scales, blistering runs and all occasionally topped off with the black Pilgrim/ Puritan hat. I just had to have a Strat....sunburst, maple neck and tremolo. Can't remember if it was 1971 or 72 when l splashed out, but she was/is my pride and joy... l've still got the old girl to this day. I never did get the hat, yet secretly still hanker for one!, nor did l ever set the world alight with my guitar playing. l rarely play electric now but I can't bring myself to part with her. Sacrilege really, a guitar, any instrument, should be played, not stuck in a case or left on a wall.....what to do...what say you Mr Blackmore ? I have great memories of the awe and wonder l felt as a teenager listening to Ritchie Blackmore play guitar....and of the dreams of a young kid with his new Fender Stratocaster. Chilled out days living on an old wooden boat with the beautiful Fylde and a good old Hammer Horror are the stuff of dreams these days. Hope you and Candice make it back to Newcastle at some point ? She claimed to have once been married to Richie Blackmore. According to her she was a big Deep Purpel fan in her younger days and having met Richie I suppose eventually married. I believe I recall a photo she had showed me but how factual and real it was I dont have the slightest clue. Not that it is of vital importance to me but I must say it was awfully interesting and pretty cool as I have been a guitarist for many years and a deep purpel fan and rainbow fan.
