From Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the NBC series revolving around Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg), a New York City Police Department (NYPD) detective in Brooklyn's fictional 99th Precinct, who often comes into conflict with his commanding officer, the serious and stern Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher). I think this is wrong, but why is Gary's behaviour annoying me while Amy's isn't?

Maybe because Amy was one of the main characters, everyone thought she was annoying but she didn't seem to because the creators didn't want us to see her annoying side (although it was shown a few times and we got kinda annoyed but it wasn't focused on a lot.) Whereas Gary actually is the annoying side of Amy and the creators want us to focus on just that, that is his whole and soul purpose (so far), plus he's kind of an exagerrated version of Amy and that's why Amy said she felt like looking at a mirror.

Gary’s a bad character, I don’t know what they tried to achieve with him, but he’s just a rip off Amy. It’s annoying, and it could’ve been executed better, but it just flopped IMO.
