I love how Holt eventually just accepts the father role.
True, however I'd say its a bigger step for Jake to confront his daddy issues and starts to more openly see Holt as a father figure

He also punched out a bigot on his behalf once. The officer that gave him the most grief (not out of hate but more rebellion against authority) defended him because it was the right thing to do. That means something to a man who's lived through a career of discrimination for being both black and gay.

I discovered Brooklyn Nine Nine during the pandemic in the spring of 2020. Sadly I lost my beloved Mom to that fucking virus in the fall. I wish I could tell the cast of Brooklyn Nine Nine that they help me so much with my grief by making me smile with their antics and life lessons.

One of my favorite minor details is that when jake is completely upset he talks in a monotone calm voice because his dad was an airplane pilot.

1:26 holt literally eats plain rice for breakfast and says if he could, he would eat a tasteless bar that gave him all the calories and nutrients needed for the day. Then again, this is one of the earlier seasons so maybe the writers were still trying to decide whether to make holt a foodie or not.

So, in the 99 Holt is Jake's father whily Terry is the cool trustworthy older brother, Gina, Amy and Rosa are the sisters (wich make weird the Jake and Amy thing, more even when Amy also sees Holt as a father figure, not at the level of Jake at least), Hithcock and Scully are the weird uncles, Boyld is the weird cousin that somehow you get along and Kevin is the step-father who marry into this weird family and somehow actually deal with it.
