Our 2023 HTC has a gear whine, now I know what to expect. I love the car, best one this 76yo has ever driven in my 65 years of driving experience. I wish we lived closer, you and I think alike.
The first thing I would look at is the sticker on your door. On the upper left it will have the build date, if your car was built after July 23 it has the new Die-3 trans casing with a cast oil pan and different bolt spacing, all internals remain the same. The pan is also bigger and I think it's the same trans casing as the ZO6. To replace your trans they will need to pull your drivetrain out of the bottom of the car, around 13 to 15 hrs. of work. Also, some units may have a condition where the transmission fasteners were improperly torqued. To correct this problem, certified GM technicians are to inspect affected Vettes and replace the transmission and all corresponding components, including a coolant flush, as necessary. I'm sure they know what's wrong and have been through this over and over, it's very common.
It's the old style and getting replaced i had to send pictures of bottom bolt pattern. Sounded like it was getting replaced with same one bec they said they needed to order the right trans with same bolt patern
Today's automobiles are expensive garbage 🗑 you and I know American & Europeans can make super reliable automobiles. But they're greedy pigs making planned Obsolescence parts.
this dude clearly has a positive attitude that his dct needs to be changed. "My C8 needs a new transmission yay, fun times ahead" " i get to test out my new load ramps" hey look, my check engine light is on" oh well,
My 2023 c8 stingray z51 coupe had the transmission replaced. It was stressful at the time, but the new transmission has been great. I’m currently happy that I bought it.
I still love the car. and its performance. My C7 had the torque converter changed and the paint issue so I'm less stressed this time around. I have the paint chip by the headlight also but this time I'm not getting it repainted. My c7 took three tries and it still isn't color matched 100%
Wow…we are cut from the same cloth Mike! First and foremost, my condolences on your tranny…that sucks! I have been contemplating all what you say… maybe get the z06…but the damn increase in price and that BS luxury tax sucks as well lol…get the tranny fixed, put the after market high wing, you already have a z06 rockers and front lip and call it a day…plus you have the space in the garage for a third vette! 😉
This guy who works for GM said this about gm corvette transmission ,very impartial post by him right.Loren Cocking Admin Group expert in Cars Don’t believe everything that some backyard mechanic tells you on a Podcast. Just because they can put it out there doesn’t make it so. At Preston Chevrolet I can categorically state that - after 4 years of dealing with all different versions of C8’s - we’ve seen exactly ONE with any sort of a transmission issue. One! So let’s deal with facts here, people, not supposition. Let’s keep everything in perspective and not make mountains out of molehills! Save the wave, everyone.
I don’t know you and your channel came up in my feed. I saw an older video where you replaced your own DCT filter. I’m not saying this caused your problem or that you did anything wrong at all. I just don’t self-service my C8 because I don’t want GM to have any freakin’ reason to deny a warranty claim.
I absolutely love the c8, but I have a little family, and it is hard for me to justify it now even though I can buy it cash. The transmission is the deciding factor as to why I am going to wait for the C9. If you do enough research, it's crystal clear this is an ongoing issue, and I would be salty if I spent 100k just to have my car sit for several months waiting for a repair or pay for it out of pocket once out of warranty.
Your not alone Mike, our 2024 Terrain gave me a "hold steering" alarm which could be a bad sensor, pump, fluid and it aint fluid, 34hundred miles.............swell dealer cant get to it until friday, gotta go see my heart doctor this morning, now I'm forced to take the 2500 gmc 4x4.......darn.....
Hi Mike, I just watched your TH-cam channel. About your transmission problem. We sold our 2022 Caffeine Metalic to Prince George Wood Wheaton in June. Have you seen it around Prince George? We want to order a ZR1. Sorry we sold it Loved that car.
What do you expect it’s a GM 😂 What is going or gone in the transmission the front pump ? I’d keep the car you got, what are you going to do with 600hp. Why sink yourself into debt buying another car. The only cars that hold value are the early vettes from the 70s
I would get the C8 transmission fixed, keep it and buy a certified used Porsche 911 Carrera 4S. The Porsche Canada website shows used Porsches across the country…get one, fly out and drive it home!
Glad I passed on buying a c8... I'll stick with the 6spd manual in a c6. Reliabe transmission and engine. It's more about the driving experience for me than goosing it out of every stop anyway.
We love our 2023 3LT HTC non-Z51 Arctic White with magnetic ride, front lift, performance exhaust, front splitter, black exhaust tips, two tone (black/red) interior and carbon flash painted top, nacelles, low spoiler, mirrors, intake blades, and wheels is the perfect car for us. We will never track it and it’s capable of more performance than we will ever need. Our 2nd Corvette and the best vehicle this 76yo has ever driven. Our 2008 3LT convertible with the manual transmission was nice, the C8 drives so much better I don’t miss the manual transmission at all.
@@briandaniel931 Toilets? I mean, if you're using that as an example.. I keep my old ones that still send enough gallons per flush down the pipes that you can drop a duce and not clog the toilet with that two squares of TP in one flush. XD Joking aside, C8 has been out for a while, the C8 is a car that while I don't care for the exterior (it's OK), I love the interior of that car, way ahead of the creaky interiors of older corvettes IMHO. But that mid engine design, just brings back memories of the fiero, that, a DCT with no manual transmission option (a bit of a deal breaker for me), I waited. DCTs, from what I understand are great in certain use cases, but everyday driving isn't where they shine... and I don't drive on the track. Having everything crammed into a relatively small package like that as well, I figured repair costs would be worse, and with reliability being a concern for me, well, I figured; stick with what works and what is good enough for me.
@yarrik701 you really wasted your time typing just because one person have an issue with something doesn't mean you shouldn't purchase a particular item have a great day
@@briandaniel931 I'm just giving my opinion, if I'm wasting my time, well, it's my time to waste I suppose. At the end of the day, I can still drive the cars I actually like (just as you can), and if the C8 prices drop enough in the used market, I might give one a go if I get the itch to do so. Though, I'll probably switch over to a mustang, pre-stellantis challenger, or something similar to get a car configured closer to what I want if the wheels fall off either of my cars.
The DCT is a bust. It is way too complicated to make and maintain reliability. It fails in the Vette, the GT 500, the GT-R, and the BMW's where it was used in high horsepower applications. BMW finally took a smart pill and has ditched it for all high HP cars. Only remains on a couple low HP models. GIve GM a decade and .......they still won't have it fixed. See how the Active/Dynamic fuel management has worked out after 15 years? No solutions and still a problem.

Sorry about the trans. Sounds like you handling it well. Way better than I would.
Had a ‘23 C8 Z51 and the worry of the transmission going was always a worry. Sold it. Bought a ‘24 911 GTS with a manual transmission. Do miss the C8.
Wow they sure don't make them like they use to, what a bummer.
The performance is amazing, but when it's not on warranty it will be a huge bill. Transmission is $20,000

Makes me wonder if the transmission was damaged by the tow company? So far no issues of any kind with my 2023 HTC but then I only have 3800 miles
also the c8 have safety issue with the seatbelts, where at times occupants are unable to get of the seatbelt.

Yeah I was kinda worried about that as well. I kept the filter so I'm going to cut it open and see if there are any filings
Hopefully it is covered by warranty.

@mikesgarage6331 Thanks sellers remorse
Wait for the 1064 hp model, you think that won't have any problems one is crazy
I don't think there will be enough of them for the common man to get one.
Z06 = quarter of a million dollars. I bought my Eray for $140,000. Includes carbon ceramic brakes, and it’s FASTER that a Z06!
The Eray is a great value
the Zora to be around $200.000 Finally Super Car Prices 😁 early C4 started at abt $25 K
Well 2023 / 2024 have a transmission recall but then they state it’s not every vin BUT is every vin lol.
NOTE!!!!! No need to put an extra 2 quarts of transmission oil in a C8...may do more harm than good in everyday driving!!!!!!!!!
I'm going ro cut open the trans filter to see if there was any debris. But yeah fat lot of good adding 2 quarts did
@@mikesgarage6331 I was going to do the same as you adding 2 quarts to my 2023 but now I'll wait to see what they learn,
