Man my childhood listening to Marty and Joe. Those of you livin in Cincy and surrounding area so lucky w WLW on airwaves. I live 259 mi south. Had to be a clear night to get WLW. And only at night. lol Rose Griffey Morgan Perez Bench Foster Concepcion Geronimo and The Nasty BoyZ!
Got some chills listening to this Takes me back to bein a kid taking BP with my mom and dad , truck in the outfield blaring the game. Or even leaving the reds game early and still listening as I’m in and out of sleep I knew when Marty retired that , that part of my childhood was gone. Glad it’s recorded for the nostalgia
Thank you for the upload! Never gets old watching this. Me and my buddies are in the footage of Fountain Square after the victory at 2:14:08. A night I’ll never forget.
World Series teams with Willie Randolph, 0-8 vs Reds in World Series Play. Also, 75, 76, and 90 (also 1919) all Reds World Series victories away from home. 1940 was the only year they won the final game at home.
Man! I remember that year like it was yesterday. I hadn't had that much Cincinnati baseball fun, since 1975 and 1976. But this one was really special. They went wire to wire, and swept the mighty A's in four! Hate to sound cliche, but those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end. 👍
I vividly remember listening to this call on WLW with CBS muted. And this call was one of the signs to Marty that he needed an examination of his vocal cords. It led to him quitting smoking, and he's still going strong now at 81.
Rio. One of the best World Series performances of all time. Not only did he win 2 games, he was essentially the winner in the 3rd. And this was against what was arguably the best hitting World Series team of all time.
Canseco had fallen so far so fast in this series that nobody who was watching this expected him to do anything when he came up with 1 out in the 9th. I think most people expected him to strike out, but tapping a weak grounder to third was a pretty fitting way to cap off this nightmare of a series for him.
My son was 13 and lived in Ventura, CA in 1990. I was a young minister in Morgantown, WV, having been a Reds fan since birth. All during that 1990 Series, I would call up my son during and after each game and revel in the victories. He drew a picture for me depicting the Reds victory that year. I still have that picture 34 years later. Thank you, Reds, for so many great memories.
Reds fan my whole life.... Eric Davis is my all time favorite player.... for the life of me I never remember him playing left field. Why is he not in center.... why would Billy Hatcher be there instead of him? I'm so confused... hahaha
Davis was in center until he hurt his knee on April 24 and then slammed into a wall right before the playoffs. In the NLCS Davis threw out Bonilla from left after Hatcher crashed into the wall trying to make the play. Also Hatcher started and ended the 1990 season as the hottest hitter in baseball. Davis lost NLCS game 1 for the Reds when he misjudged the ball and it went over his head.

Marty and Joe talking aboutnthe growing movement to phase the DH out

I miss Marty and Joe. Comforting hearing their voices again
Thank you for the trip down memory lane

Marty Brennaman (PBP) & Joe Nuxhall (C) 1-2/5-6/8-9
Nuxhall (PBP) 3-4/7
As much as I enjoy the sound of the buzzing. I loved how the audio cleared up for Marty during the last out. Great upload.
Nice catch! The original version from MLB had a kazoo playing in the background of that final call.

What's with this "be respectful and civil" nonsense?
