Flagship Business Class on American’s A321T: SFO-JFK

- My first trip out of SF saw me fly aboard a red-eye transcontinental flight aboard American Airlines' A321T in Flagship Business Class. It's a truly unique experience getting to fly in the seat I flew in on a narrowbody jet, so highly enjoyed it all and would definitely recommend it. Nowadays, with international travel almost back to full operations again, American hardly ever puts their widebody planes on domestic flights anymore...only the most premium cross-country routes get these A321T's with Flagship First and Flagship Business...AA's "best" offering. While it's not as good as their 777s and 787s, it's still a huge improvement over flying a regular old 737 or A321 and if you can get yourself on one of these planes...DO IT. The A321T is worth it...just look for A321 with sharklets. Hope you guys enjoy!

A couple notes about the meal service. Warmed mixed nuts isn't particularly an AA thing. We served them in F/C 40 years ago. Also, the menu items printed aren't what you got. I know you were calling it Prime Rib but the menu showed Short Rib with asparagus & twice baked potatoes but it looked more like potato wedges & broccolini & a leek stem across the plate. The salad you showed was a caprese salad (tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil leaves) & not what AA listed.
Just reporting that I had warmed, mixed nuts in F on literally every segment (all 4) over the weekend going CMH-DFW-SAN and back

As someone who flew out of SFO in May and rides on BART on a regular basis, this video definitely hits home for me personally. Out of curiosity, what do you think of BART?

US TALL FOLKS HAVE IT ROUGH WHEN IT COMES TO LIEFLAT SEATS ABOARD AIRPLANES, ESPECIALLY IF THE AREA ARE TIGHT.
To note: I'm yet to experience AAs Business Class, so I'm glad for this insight.
Sadly American is set to cramp those A321T with the hideous de-harmonized Oasis/Kodiak
No actually they are being retrofitted with the new flagship business product.
I recently went to San Francisco via EWR. I was there to visit some relatives and until now, I would sometimes cry at night due to not seeing them anymore. Im back now in Asia and I would want to visit back but because of the lack of money and time, my parents and I would have to save up more

Huh? @12:48. that's not the salted caramel tartlet. Looks like a miss-sync with menu. Instead, that is the chocolate mouse tartlet which tends to be on the dry and bland side - glad you enjoyed! Serving food at incorrect temperatures? Wow! That could be a health and safety issue. Glad you requested proper temperatures. Question, so AA no longer serves beverages in real glassware for its premium cabins? Noted plastic/paper drinking cups through out.
Sadly, you never got a chance to ride the L-1011 or the DC-10 from coast to coast. These new single isle planes are somewhat of a joke. Thank you for the good report!

As someone who has flown now 70 times on this plane with 68 of which being in first and biz, the armrest closest to the window does go down and makes the bed a lot wider.
You gotta have Sam Chui levels of money and press connections to get first class flights and service that’s catered to you along with access to the cockpit. Still, I’d love to fly with a lie-flat bed on a cross continental or international flight.

The green veggie is Broccolini, a fancy form of broccoli. It is very good if you like broccoli!
Key for lounge access is to have frequent flyer status, that way you can access the flagship lounges when travelling domestically regardless of we’ve you’re seated in business or just plain economy!

The AA Admirals Club is pretty much the worst of the worst. Southwest lounge is better and they dont even have one, so that tells you something. The food in UA and DL lounge is much better. AA is scrapping the 321T next year and reconfiguring them to standard 20F 176Y. Yea AA race to the bottom, they win!
You struck lucky with access to the lounge after being upgraded. A number of years ago I was upgraded to business from economy when flying Dubai to the UK but the airline wouldn't''t let me into the business lounge. (Plastic cutlery in a Business Class Lounge?)
How do you get upgraded? Do you ask?
Emirates does not included lounge access on ultra discounted fares nor for upgrades.

I don't know why you say that. They just released details and pics of the new flagship product and it's fabulous. Big upgrade from the current product
@@johniii8147 This fleet was special. Of course it’s not going to be better than the new Flagship Suites (Which are the same as JetBlue’s new Mint Suites) but this plane has one of the most premium heavy layouts on any commercial narrowbody jet. It doesn’t matter because their fate is sealed, these jets are going to be retrofitted with the crappy Oasis/Kodiak cabin to blend in with the rest of the A321 fleet.

I miss the Otis Spunkmyer chocolate chip cookies they used to serve... my folks used to have a lot of miles on AA, so in the early -mid 2000s we flew JFK-LAX and JFK-SAN in business a number of times, and recall one time where my brother decided to be an ass, and eat my cookies whilst I dozed off. 😂😂

Do you think they didn't turn the lights on for meal service and waited until people were asleep before starting because of the issus with the ovens? Saving them a potential disaster of a meal service?
I enjoy your videos. It’s sad that AA is flying narrow bodies on trans on flights. For a while they redeployed the wide bodies for transcon because international travel was curtailed due to COVID. What was the piano music playing on the video?

American Airlines with no crew base at SFO see what happens there now if they still have the JFK to SFO flight, the lounge, etc.
Yeah no crew base could definitely add some reliability issues. I bet they rely on JetBlue and abandon the route when the A321T is retired
That will not affect anything, AA only fly from sfo to other hubs. I was surprise that they didn’t close that base earlier.

San Francisco is one of those airports where you take metro train to the airport train which takes you straight to the terminal. Common thing in the United States while in Europe metro trains go right to the airport which a few airports in the U.S. are like as well
Can't speak for other airports but I know the BART to SFO was an after thought. The service started as part of an overall BART extension maybe 20 years ago.
I will say that the service to the San Francisco airport is much better than what the Oakland airport got - which was a peoplemover type of service between the coliseum station and the airport terminal which requires a second charge to ride. The OAK trains replaced the "AirBart" bus service.
I will agree that most European airports get it right when it comes to trains to and from the airport.
In the Fall of 2021 social distancing varied college campuses and airport still enforced social distancing and select restaurants did but other places did not such as sports venues, most restaurants, public transit, etc. and operating at 100% capacity with mask mandates
At least your meal was good unlike other meals I have seen with trip reporters recently

I flew AA for the first time in May. The "econopoor" of AA is really crap! The food was the worst airplane food I'd ever experienced! The food must be good only in their "execurich"! On the flight back to GRU, for the first time in my life, I saw a plane landing with most of the FAs standing up and collecting trash! That was a bit scary for my taste! Thanks for sharing.
FAs do not stand during landing. It’s quite frankly impossible. During final descent and approach, yes-but not during landing. Educate yourself in aviation before making such ridiculous comments.

Hope you had a nice visit to San Franshitsco and managed to avoid stepping on a dirty needle or a pile of human feces on the sidewalk. I don't think American's domestic Flagship Business is quite as good as JetBlue's Mint, but it's better than United's.
