It sits low on the front because of the towing capability. When you put a trailer on the back, it will lower the rear end. Thus you will get a balance between front and rear.
You have some great points. I bought the Maverick Tremor because I have no desire to tow anything and can still load a payload of 1200 Lbs. That's more than enough for a small truck in my opinion.
You over look things sometimes. Sometimes it takes longer to smooth out all the edges. So things like the back bench git put on the back burner. When the refresh comes next year I bet you see a lot of these fixes implemented. 2 back seats jacks up the price. how many of each seat. Building the vehicle would cost more. The cheat code for most of your complaints is => $$$. Cheap tires are cheap.
Almost every truck sold has a lowered nose for gas mileage! Look at the mileage of a Tremor, 21mpg with it's higher ride height! The Maverick is a practical truck first above all! I bought a bronco sport waiting for the Maverick. It sits higher and with much better approach & departure angles the bumpers have front & rear. It was supposed to be off-road oriented .
11:00 because Ford knows that 90% of these trucks will never see "off road" use, and more importantly because the ATR was probably $1 cheaper than the AT plus when talking about the million plus tires they're buying. 24:48 they're to deflect air away from the tires, for fuel efficiency. A 2 second google would have told you that. Really, the majority of the rants in your video can be explained by fuel efficiency. Ford doesn't care about off road capability, they don't care about power or performance, they don't even care if you like the truck. They care about Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards because they probably took a big hit when they eliminated their cars. Eliminating all those fuel efficient cars probably drove the average number up a fair bit, possibly to the point that they were facing penalties. Ford knew that offering the Maverick at an incredibly low price would drive big sales figures with people who weren't in the market to buy a F-150 Lariat or King Ranch but the Maverick's efficiency would lower the CAFE average so they could sell more of those big, fuel hungry (and profitable) full-size trucks without paying any penalties, while simultaneously grabbing more market share.
@Maverick Overland Adventures we have a small homestead... the Mav was originally mine , but the wife took it. I then ordered 23 F150 XL Powerboost Super Crew , 7.2kw hybrid. Its not as easy to drive as the Mav., but need to haul feed
You make some really good points . However the maverick was initially designed to be a cheap alternative to a full size and a mid sized truck. All the issues you brought up are implemented in the ford ranger. I just think the maverick was designed for the average home owner who didnt need a full size or even a mid sized truck but wanted the ability to have a vehicle they could haul home improvement items, plants ,large items without have to spend 40 grand or even more on a full size truck that would be overkill for the average home owners needs. I also actually like the idea of having a cheap no thrills vehicle that can be cheaply modified to fit my needs. Your obviously an outdoors kind of guy. Maybe a ford ranger would better fit your needs. Anyways good video! Thanks 😊
Agree and disagree with some points here. If your going to have the "Off Road" package...then have it the best it can be. I can live with some of the simple points he stated and do without the dual clutch system of the Tremor on the FX4. I think better approach angle bumper (Tremors) , 1 inch lift in front and different all terrain tires would make a huge difference. Id gladly pay the cost difference which would still be way less than Tremor. Ford did force me to buy the 4K towing for 2024 in order to get an FX4 package, which I'm ok with..... that is a new requirement for 2024. Cheers...............
@paulwimberly8787 it absolutely is, which is the point I make at the end of the video. It's a great truck, and I love mine exactly the way it is. Doesn't mean I can't dislike a few small things. A PERFECT vehicle is unrealistic, no matter what it is.
I wish they would have been a regular non turbo ,non hybrid 2.5l engine option. I worry the hybrid and the turbo option are going to have longevity issues. The 2.5l engine is a proven engine with 200 thousand miles plus capabilities without issues. I'm just not confident the hybrid or the turbo option will be as long living without issues.
I don't think that the ecoboost will have terrible longevity issues. Its a pretty solid engine and turbo technology is pretty damn good these days. Every care I've owned for the past 8 years has been a turbo and they've all been excellent. Only time will tell though!
@number1pappy The highest was on my 06 Volvo XC70. It was a straight 5 Turbo and had just over 200k miles when I sold it a couple years back. I also had a 05 Jetta GLI 1.8t with around 160k on it.
@@maverickoverlandadventures This really didn't need to be 31 minutes long, it would have fit better as a 10-15 minute bitch session. I watched because it's -40 outside and I'm bored but I watched it at 1.25x speed and still had to skip through a lot of it.
@barrylinkiewich9688 The excellent click-through and watch time analytics for this video, paired with the fact that it's done incredibly well in nearly all other analytic categories tell me that the majority of people that watched it enjoyed. So there's that.
The aft seat is less usable with the solid bench design, I agree, there should be an option for a split design. I have a 22 AWD Lariat and I love the side profile not to mention the aerodynamic advantage gained by having a slightly lower front. I don’t like the typical giant pickup,Carolina squat look. Another mistake or omission for the sake of cost, no fog lights. Those two giant, blank panels on the front bumper cover are a miss.
On the FX4 those panels are where the tow hooks are, but I agree that fog lights would be a cool add on! I actually plan to wire in my own mounted in the lower grill.
@12current check out the Nilight kits on Amazon! They are extremely cheap but great quality! Tons of people use them for offroading rigs, boats, all kind of stuff. You can get kits that have 2 lights with mounting hardware AND the entire wiring harness, relay, fuse, and the on/off toggle switch for under $50! They are stupid simple plug and play setup too
I am worried it could get stuck in just a few inches of snow with it being low to the ground like that. I would need a locking bed cover. Does that come as an add-on? Also, it doesn't have the eye-sight technology that Subaru and Toyota have. I don't know how much difference that makes for older drivers. It's possible the sight lines are so good with the Maverick design, you wouldn't miss it.
I changed from stock Continental tires of my Maverick into Falken AT3W

Dead on
AGREE 100%

When i ordered my 22 XLT , i had a leveling kit and Cooper AT3 235 /75R17's included.
Extra $1,500
That's awesome! Was that included on the window sticker, or did they do a separate transaction like when you order accessories?
@Maverick Overland Adventures wasnt on sticker.
@Maverick Overland Adventures i own 22 Ranger Tremor and for everyday use , the Maverick beats it.
@Vinny Thats cool to hear from someone who has first hand experience owning both trucks. I really think Ford did a good job designing the Maverick.

😢 u shoulda bought a Tremor Maverick problem solve
The Tremor is definitely cool, but it also cannot be equipped with 4k Tow so that was a huge disadvantage for me. It also costs a lot more
You want to much from a Maverick it's fine as it is for the price

Like a YUGO! Anyone remember those, lol reminds me of Fords version.
Get on with it
I'm not really sure why you clicked on an informational video if you didn't want the most detailed information possible? Makes sense...

Sounds like you should have bought a Ranger, a full frame pickup with real 4 wheel drive.
I don't want that, I wanted a Maverick and still absolutely love it after nearly 20k miles of fun
