This is actually a movie that is rare on reaction channels despite being the first attempt at realistic pokemon
Most of us like doing first time watches but while I can't speak for everyone my guess would be no one knew about it (most common) or had already seen it off camera. I watched this the year it came out and really enjoyed it & if I had my channel then I would've made a video to it for sure.
I assumed its because nintendos very protective of its stuff
As a massive Pokémon fan, I loved this movie. There was a bit more focus on the first Gen guys than I would like, but the fact that they showed a few from every generation at all is really nice. I really appreciate that this movie feels like it’s own world and not the usual “we were sent to the Pokémon world” or “Pokémon were sent to our world” story like Sonic or even Mario did. Not that the formula is bad, but Pokémon specifically has such a big world that letting everything flow naturally felt great. I appreciate that they didn’t really stop to explain each Pokémon on screen and just expect the audience to either already know or just look at the funky animals and be impressed.
The biggest thing that makes me love this film though is the Pokémon them selves. They didn’t really do that thing where they redesigned the to “be realistic.” They simply applies new textures and some new physics on each one so they remain recognizable. Charizard still has his belly, Torterra has his weird bear trap teeth, stuff like that. There are some added details that also make the Pokémon more accurate, like how Psyduck’s irises are actually white in this movie to replicate the tiny dot pupils it has in the games and anime. It all felt and looked really neat.
There’s apparently a Netflix series in the works involving this world but we have basically no info on it, I hope it’s good.
Because GEN 1 and 2 are the best. Then its downhill from there

I agree, the fact they were able to stay true to the source material while using some realistic texture to it is amazing. Like the Pokémon that are mammals, they have fur or bubbler like the Pancham, Mewtwo and Flareon. The ones like Charizard, Torterra, Magikarp and Gyarados, they both have scales like actual reptiles and fish. Last but not least, Psyduck and the Pidgeot have feathers as any bird should. As an animal lover, they have my approval.

I think he doesn’t questions Pikachu sounding like his dad because he probably thinks it’s part of the reason he can hear him, or the fact that Pikachu was his dad’s partner Pokemon. He’s already freaked out he can’t communicate with Pikachu so I don’t think he’s going to question anything else.
Whole point of the plot is that he’s had no connection with his father since a boy.
Also he hasn't spoken with his dad for years, i also forgot hpw someone's voice is like after not hearing them for years
This is actually a really awesome and fun movie. I can tell a lot of Pokémon fans loved how fanservice-y this was. I especially loved Detective Pikachu’s likable personality and accurate he looks to the game this is based on. I definitely recommend this to anyone who’s a major Pokémon fan or people who just heard of the franchise.

The reason Pikachu got knocked out by a single rock is because electric types are weak against ground type attacks.
Not rock-types though
@@NickHoad True but getting hit by a rock can still count as part of a Ground Attack. I mean what else were they supposed to do, throw dirt In Pikachu’s eyes? lol
well tbr, a rock that size hurts a lot if it hit you coming from a high altitude.
They aren't known to be that durable in the first place

Seb. The reason Pikachu passed out from the rock is because ground type moves are super effective against electric. So even though it's a small rock it's still his weakness and messed him up.
i think rock type is different from ground type. but if physics is involved, i do believe that size of rock will hurt A LOT if it came from that height so it's more believable that pikachu, a rodent, hit in the stomach will actually get severely hurt.
@BCOG1691 with the size of that rock and the speed it came down should have looked like it would have just bounced off of his stomach. It's not my theory it's just something I read online that made sense to me.
The whole film was about how he had no connection with his dad so it's not surprising he wouldn't recognise his voice. He hadn't heard it since be was a kid.

The pikachu used for pokèmon contests does in fact have a black spot on its tail so you might be thinking of that.
I love that mewtwo’s voice is both a male and female one overlapped since in the animated movies they’ve been depicted as both male and female, at least in the dubs.
I got to enjoy this movie in cinemas and it was absolutely incredible, I don’t think we could get a more perfect adaptation.

Also the ditto faces are actually incorrect, that iconic face is actually from a ditto in the anime that was struggling to transform and by the end of the episode it actually learnt how to replicate pokèmon properly. However that face is so much more recognisably a ditto that it’s stuck around for marketing purposes.
the Dub mewtwo your thinking off is the 1 from the Gensect Movies witch has a female voice.
their not the same mewtwo just a diffrent one with the ability the Mega evolve, the first Mewtwo can't mega but is pretty much god lvl pokemon by the point of his second movie.
it why their no Clones with the female Mewtwo as she not the same mewtwo, she either a copy or another groups attempt at making a mew clone.
I still think having the movie be based on Detective Pikachu was one of the best decisions they made. It had every opportunity to do fanservice and world-building with a simple compelling buddy cop story for the general audience and STILL have it star the franchise mascot. Definitely a better introduction (assuming they make more) than if they did a movie about Red, Blue and Leaf.

He didn't recognize his dad. Because his dad left when he was nine, and when his dad lived with his mom, he was rarely home ( for detective work). So, he's probably only seen his dad less than 300 times

I remember watching this at the movie theater on opening night. The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer played (the one w/ his horrible design), and this was AFTER they announced Sonic would be redesigned.
Remember, he hasn't seen (and heard) his dad in years, and he's only like, 21 now.
I know it’s two different companies but imagine if the Ken Watanabe’s Pokémon was a small Godzilla or a Charzard as a nod to his role on the Godzilla movies.
They really should have given him a larvitar as tyranitar often gets claimed as being inspired by godzilla. Even a totodile would work as it has plates on it's back simular to godzilla.
There's one movie I would LOVE to see you react to is the first "Underworld" movie. It's the best vampire Francise in my opinion. The only movies in the Francise that really matter are "Underworld" "underworld evolution" and "underworld: Rise of the Lycans" They're the movies that tell the origin story. the rest are just add-ons really. so, if you could watch it, I would really appreciate it!

Detective Pikachu 2 has been confirmed for years now. It's actually been since 2019. However, unfortunately there have been no updates since and even the cast don't know the current progress so it's likely still years away if it ever comes at this rate.
No its been updated recently at the beginning of the year. Idk what about tho i forgot but i remember it being good
They are making a detective Pikachu too, plus they’re making another live action Pokémon movie and they were different theories about this movie too like how the car crash at the beginning of the movie was like because of team rocket too and that’s why they’re always the bad guys and hopefully we get to see a live action team rocket in the Pokémon movie and also because there were different theories about that that the person in the car accident was supposed to be Ash, but like only from the original series i’m also hoping I get to see the other Pokémon like from the Pokémon horizon series as well just because then it would definitely make the movie more interesting then they have to make a live action series

As a pokemon fan since i was about 5, this movie was so close to perfection. I like Mewtwo but im more of a Lugia fan. I do hope we get more the designs are sick!! And are fairly well done, the growlithes and gyarados, and that charizard all beautiful!! Id like to have seen a rapidash or a ninetails but maybe they show up in a future film.

Honestly, my favorite Pokemon game isn't one of the main series games, it's one of the spinoff games: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky (Sky is basically the cooler version of the other two with more available mons, levels, etc, but they all have the same plot). The plot goes HARD in that one, and I love it.

Pokemon platinum (gen 4 like Diamond and Pearl) and black2/white2 (gen 5) are the nicest to play as these ones can be somewhat challenging as a nuzelucke, the newer games are verry easy in my opinion. Out off these I prefer platinum as black and white look a bit weird as they were experimenting with moving sprites and how to make it more 3D.

Best game is HeartGold and SoulSilver. Wish the dual region concept was continued into later gens - this was nice since the GBC gold silver and crystal had a half baked kanto region
