If the storm water drains get cleaned on a regular basis, the floods will be much less!!!

For years the water drains have been like garbage bins with all sorts of rubbish.

If the drains were kept clean the flow of water would be easy.

Schools are need to close at very low and very high tempretures but the school dont follow their own laws. In anycase the opened the schools in July when tempretures go to a very low and very cold time...now my question is why???

They should have closed schools a bit later like maybe end june and opened later as well. They know July is the coldest and rainiest month.

What i dont understand about educational dept. They open schools in July our coldest time in South Africa wich is stupid. Schools need to follow their own laws when tempretures drop to a very low or go up to a very high those schools need to be closed why are they keeping schools open. Schools are not above the laws

The fools don't even know what's the purpose of closing schools mid-year. It was to stay at home n avoid bad cold n wet weather risking health n safety fir kids n everyone involved. Now they want to look bz doing nothing to help.

If only the architects designed and built the shacks on stilts, then the house could be above the water.
Hopefully organisations can support an initiative to move shacks onto stilts where annual flooding occurs.

Every single year without fail they only unblock drains once its too late. Municipalities hve a culture of as little work as possible and they are allowed to get away with it.

True. Drains should be cleaned up before the rain season starts.

In The Helderberg they have been working hard all year improving the river system capacity putting in extra diversions for flood water and cleaning stormwater drains. This rain will give a real test to the system its hectic

It would work for all if communities didn't allow gangsters to rule them n stop any development being made. We have ourselves to blame in this case.

Why leave the Eastern Cape and resettle in a shack knowing fully well we have alot of rain here every year? This is when you want to claim land that doesn't belong to you.

I'm sure if people had job opportunities in the EC they wouldn't be flooding Cape Town. Your question is really annoying. No one would just choose to leave their comfortable home to settle in a shanty town for fun. Otherwise Gauteng wouldn't be so congested.
