Two of the greatest songwriters of all time....right there!! I'm glad prine is still singing, I had read that he had been ill. As for Kris, he still has that athletes build ( I know, serious man crush)
Kris should have played the twelve-string guitar on this. But it is hilarious the way it is, too. Thanks for posting this online and sharing this great event.
I've seen Kris in concert many years ago here in australia. Looks like I'll have to go to the states (or Ireland) to see John. How great it would be to see them together live. Two of this worlds best song writers and performers. It is so refreshing to listen to what they both have to say. I listen and I hear.
I requested John Prine be invited to Greyfox Bluegrass Festival. I should have asked for Kris also but you only get one name to request. This is an amazing posting. Thank you friendlyromancer!!
What the hell?? Only 76 views and no comments? John Prine and Kris Kristofferson are some of the most influential singer/songers of all time! How does Miley Cyrus have a million views on every of her videos?? I guess it isn't a measure on talent...
jkerby01 totally agree....the minions don't good music when they hear it....these old bastards have written masterpieces for years and have made lots of $...but that isn't what defines them....the music for the common man retrospective of life....when these two go, they will take a piece of my heart with them. The baby boomer generation...
I discovered John Prine and his great music only a month or so ago.. I'm 56 years old and I sit here a wondering just why I was not hearing this mans music.. I sure as hell missed out . Thank goodness for folks like you that upload.. I thank you kindly for turning me onto a very cool video..
Joe W. I am the same way 57 and I’m sad that the radio Stations didn’t play his music , or they did but other singers were featured with John’s music. I am sure I would of went to every concert I could have . Just feel like that kid that missed out on the best part of music industry 🎵🎵
Now THIS is music! Love John Prine! Im a proud resident of Muhlenberg County KY and plan to remain one. I enjoy performing this song as well. God Bless.
"Where the air smelled of snakes we'd shoot with out pistols/but empty pop bottles were all that we killed". One of JP's best lines sung by a great songwriter.
I've always been impressed by that single line; so evocative and yet so simple, and who else would have ever come up with 'the air smelled like snakes'.
Love love love seeing and hearing all these talented fun loving people sharing the good times. I can’t stop smiling. What a blessing. Thank you for posting.
Bonnaroo what an experience to have w these two great men.. Chills of sweet times dancin.. laughin on the floor.. wigglin feet dancin in the air.. free happiness hugs friends peace love.. painted shoes.. passion.. festivals celebrations.. powwows Yes.. Going to see John Prine 27th July at the Cambridge folk festival and kris kristofferson in December in Birmingham, what a year I'm gonna have :)
Kris Kristofferson I saw him instantly recognizable.
I discovered this in 1970 or 71. I've loved him ever since. I was lucky enough to see him 3 times live!
i was there :-)

Sounds like he's crying when he sings this..... I know it takes me a couple of passes to be able to sing this without crying.
Fantastic video!!!!

I was at this show in 2010 at Bonnaroo it was an epic moment seeing these two preform that song together. I will remember that show forever.
