    Good rundown of these models, thanks.
    I’m not the biggest fan of black knives /guns either, but Bark River’s black Micarta is really a nice dark brown, and I can more than live with it.

    The Enzo trapper sheath is $25 with dangler and works great for edc small blades. Great for the money.

    You certainly are a knife tip repair expert. Great jobs on those broken tips. I liked that sheath you made as well. Thanks for sharing your preferences with us.

      csh 62 thanks! I wouldn’t say I’m an expert, I’ve just broken a lot of knives. Thanks for watching!

    My most used knives are the bark river cub in 3v and also am LT Wright AEB-L GP medium but the one I use the most when I know I'm going to really be abusive is the benchmade 200 puuko in 3v because they're so inexpensive and I got a 1st production run and it is still going strong after literally kicking the snot out of it.... For larger choppers I like my Gavko knifechette in S7 or my American Knife Co Denali in A2 it is a great all arounder slightly larger knife that is agile enough to do smaller knife tasks yet chops with the big boys!

    This spring my goto knife for hikes was the Real Steel Bushcrafter Plus. That knife fits my hand very well and I like the length and grind of the blade. It does however come with a rather hideous, way too large nylon sheath.
    My edc knife is a Victorinox Evolution 14. Carrying a fixed blade knife to the office is unwise, where I live. But not illegal, yet.

    Thanks for the vid, are those Ultralite Bushcrafter sheaths you ordered the same as the Mini Northstar ones? DLT has ones that look exactly like them, but they sell it as the Mini Northstar…

    How's the handle on the mini aurora? Why do you love the Ultra Lite Bushcraft over the M.A? Just trying to decide between the two :)

  • @aleks2194
    @aleks2194 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm considering the UL bushcraft or the mini aurora, for camping trekking fishing some bushcraft, it will be the one all purpose go to knife, I find plenty of videos about the UL bushcraft but little about the mini aurora, What do you think about the performance of the mini aurora?

    BR Bird & Trout...very delicate knife...same sheath (style) with the rivet at the bottom...tip broke off...yeah, they need to do some thinking on that.

    Great video mate, I would like to see you using the ULB on some game animals to see how it goes. I'm looking to buy one to use for hunting and camping. Cheers from New Zealand

      I shot a video last year cleaning a deer and some squirrels, I unfortunately lost a ton of footage in a software issue. Hopefully this year I can harvest another and use the ULB so I can get it on video. I can tell you however it worked great!

    Do you notice a difference in blade performance between LTs and BR? I'm kicking around putting a LT next gen or genesis on top of my list because I love those thumb scallops.

    • @luketcg
      @luketcg 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or, why do you feel the next gen not make the cut compared to similar knives?

    I like BRKT knives. I have had an Aurora and a couple others, but I dont like how they do their scales. I prefer the standard coke bottle shape, fatter up top and thinned by the rear. BRKT does the opposite, and I feel like I lose control with them like that.

    Beautiful knives. Seems you are a serious knife user. You havr hands like me. large and wide. So I’m curious why don’t you go for one size (or two) bigger? They would sit in your hand better I believe and a couple of extra ounces don’t seem to bother you. BR Aurora, BR Bushcrafter, BR Mini Kephart, Enzo Badger, Enzo Trapper, Mora Kansbol (best for delicate games like rabbits and fishes)

      Daryoosh Fatemi thanks for the comment! I have larger knives, BR bravo 1, 1.5, BR Aurora, and a few other large knives. Personally I have found from my time out that a knife that large doesn’t preform as well as smaller tasks that I find myself doing more often. Such as friction fire, wild edibles gathering, primitive traps, and game processing. I do like those larger knives for processing firewood though. My skookum is just about the perfect size.

    3v is suppose to be tougher then a2... weird

    • @Enonymouse_
      @Enonymouse_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tougher, better edge retention and stain/rust resistant.

    • @brawldawg8729
      @brawldawg8729 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Enonymouse_ Exactly. Harder steels will tend to be less likely to roll, but more likely to chip. It's pretty universal science, even outside of knife steels.
