Back when trains AND stamps were fun pursuits. And now great finds years later. Thanks for taking us on the trip!
Another great vid with some fabulous finds and gifts.
Loved seeing St. Paul. Such a green and spacious town. Congratulations on the new job, hope it is a step forward for you and your family! Also a wonderful and generous gift! And the train set is pretty cool and seems well preserved, almost 50 years old, imagine that. Thanks for the video!
Congrats on your new job! That Florida gator was amazing! There are a ton of stamps after the 22-cent era I have never seen and I enjoy when I find some in a mix. Enjoy your new stamps!
Me too! That's one of the things I love about my quest... I wasn't collecting stamps in the 2000s, so a lot at are new to me...
Both my younger brothers live around St. Paul. It is such a cool place! Blown away, once again by the stamps you have been gifted! How generous! I wonder what the world's largest collection of duck stamps entails. You're on your way:) Thanks for another uplifting video!
Congrats on your new job ! And some great finds as well, especially the huge amount of duck stamps. Greets from GER, U.
Thanks!
Congrats on the new job! And I am so jealous…there are no stamp stores where I live and the only stamps I’ve ever found in an antiques store were some very common plate blocks that had stuck together…and the store wanted way more than they were worth. I love how you find things in the wild!
Hey Silk Glad you liked the package. I’ve been going through all my stamps and trying not to go through so many collecting rabbit holes. I bid on auction s and I do pretty good for my wins. I haven’t been buying so much because, saving for the Stamp Show in Hartford Connecticut in August. Also I currently looking for a new house in upper state New York and leaving California after 32 years. Please don’t feel obligated to send anything I just enjoy watching your videos and hope you can pass on any stamps to other collectors. As always Happy Collecting Ken
Thank you!!
@@silkontheweb silk on June 28 the new Federal Duck stamps are out. RW91
Quack, quack, cool.
Congrats on the new job, Silk! I also appreciate the Croc shot! Official Dads of Summer wear. Mine stay on from Victoria Day (week before Memorial Day in the US) until well into the Autumn. Oh and the Gator shot too! Love the train set. I had a similar set, too, as a kid. I also had that shirt! You should set the trains up so that they bring you your stamp of the week on your episodes, just like on Mr. Rogers.
Many thanks! And a tip for you... Crocs have a new, thicker soled style that is like walking on a cushion of air... delightful
I really like your enthusiasm for stamps! Great batch of duck stamps (I'm missing some of those), I think I have some train stamps you would like and tons of US/WW
Love your train set! If you ever set up a merch store for the channel, you need make t-shirts, caps etc in only two designs.... "Oh Cool!" and "DUCKS!!!". :)
Great idea!
Hello Mr. Silk, I just saw your newest video and someone sent you a bunch of duck stamps. How cool is that, totally awesome. Anyway, I’m the one that sent you the duck stamp album. Hopefully, some of those duck stamps can go in that album. Please let me know and maybe show a video of you putting them in it. Take care and God bless.
Thank you!!
You have reached the stage of your life when you start buying your childhood toys. I have found the Noah's Ark set and the PlaySkool wooden village set with its plastic play mat.
Absolutely... I'm also on the lookout for Smurf figurines... :)
Wow. lots to unpack in this video. First, major congratulations on quitting that mega-stressful job!!! I hope the new job is all you wish for. Then, the cool tour of St. Paul -- love the old midwestern cities, and it looks like St. Paul has not gone the way of Chicago. Then the bakery visit: from my time in Mpls in the late 1970s I can say that there are no finer bakeries in the world than in Minnesota's Twin Cities. Really unbelievable -- all those Scandinavian bakers! Makes me drool just to remember. Nowhere else has that incredible dark rye bread that melts in one's mouth. Next the cool antique shops -- how fun! And finally that great package of stamps; wowza. I especially love the trumpeter swan stamps. Thanks for bringing us along on the journey!
16:04 hay I also have these stamps!!
It's such a shame your poker face hides your emotions so completely. 😉 You have a generous supporter! Fun to see your joy in the moment.
If the transformer works the train set was an outstanding deal!
Postage cancels on Duck Stamps, especially from that time period, where used to pay postage due by commercial mailers when the post office happened to run out out of high value postage stamps that day. Not technically correct but the accounting worked out so it was done. Not common but you can find; some people collect them as a specialty within a specialty.
Great info, thanks for sharing!
👍🏻
Those 3 foiled envelopes with danish stamps are given by the company Nordfrim when you buy stamps from them. Instead of putting stamps on the outside of the packages they sent to you they included them inside so they dont get damaged. Not sure whether I like it or not since the stamps you have there are CTO. The danish stamp you mention is showing the the "The Little Matchstick Girl" from the H. C. Andersen fairytale. She goes around in the town freezing in the cold on new years eve and every time she lights a matchstick she sees something beautiful. It is a very sad fairytale that you should read.
Excellent info! Thanks for sharing... and I am SO sorry it's taken so long to do my video about Danish stamps... it's on the list!!
@@silkontheweb It's fine, don't stress about it.
Is there a reason why there are signatures on some stamps?
Yes! Hunters signed their duck/hunting stamps to 'cancel' them
Congrats......always a good idea to take a week or two between jobs if you can :-)
