When we did final customization to his racquets they were: 12.2 ounces, and 332 swingweight, that is strung specs with Solinco Confidential 1.25mm. Troy, TW
I’m messing with my own EZone Tour right now and I’m curious how much weight Troy added to the tail. I like the racquet but definitely want to try what some other people are doing with it.
I only had to increase the swingweight by like one or two points, so I placed just a bit of weight at the tip, which left me about 13 grams that I placed at the bottom of the handle. It's not "nothing like what you like", just some adjustments to fit you better. You don't buy a belt that only has one loop that fits perfectly do you?
Why would yonex not simply re-release the Dr 98 since it would obviously fly off the shelves? Why not be like Babolat who just keeps re-releasing the same pure drives and pure aeros with different year designations? Only the smallest tweaks to tech are worth doing, like Head did with spiral fibers in graphene 360+.
The racquets were pretty much down to the last graphite fibers. The sides of the hoop and certain areas of the racquet were worn down so much that they were essentially at the point of cracking/breaking. Troy, TW
I have the unstrung frame specs: 97 headsize, 310 grams, 31cm or 12.2 inch balance, 290 swingweight, and 16x19 pattern. Those are manufacturer target specs for unstrung. It should be available soon, were just waiting on the shipment to arrive. Troy, TW
We matched these racquets to the original spec that we customized his DR98's a while back, which is: 12.2 ounces, 9 points HL, and 332 swingweight, and this was calculated with his current string of choice, Solinco Confidential 16L (1.25) strung in the racquet. Troy, TW
It was pretty much all handle weight added, as you notice the swingweight is already pretty high. I think it was something like 15 grams of weight inside the handle. For about every 3 grams of weight added to the bottom of the grip, inside the trap door, it will add 1 point headlight, so it made the racquet about 5 more points headlight. Troy, TW
There was a short stint when the DR98+ came out, where Andy was thinking about switching to it, but eventually decided to stay with the standard length. Chris did switch to the DR98+ for a bit. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Thanks, Troy. I saw that you’re currently playing an extended Yonex racket. I recently switched to one as well and have been finding it a real game-changer. How are you liking it and do you think you might go back to standard length at some point?
@@PeerIllner, I have been liking it, finding that I get a bit easier pace and range on my two-handed backhand, and a little boost on serves. Initially, I struggled slightly on controlling the power on my forehand, and with touch/feel shots, but gradually I adapted and have become pretty comfortable with the 27.5" length. It is hard to say, if I will stay with, mostly just because there are limited options. I have felt most comfortable with the EZONE 98+, but there are so many other racquets on the market that don't have a plus length option, that I would love to try. I have been hitting lately with the VCORE Pro 97 (310), and VCORE 95, both with a little added weight to them, and I really wish I could try an extended option on both of those. I love the feel of the VCORE Pro 97, so I think a plus version would be really fun to try. I believe there is a website out there, where you can purchase butt caps that will extend the racquet by half an inch, so maybe I will try that. Troy, TW
@Kevin Cook, It really is a matter of personal preference to be honest! Some players love that low tension, plush pocketing feel while others like it to be stiff and boardy. We recommend just starting at mid tension and going up or down from there to see what you prefer! Michelle, TW
Not really the same, as the stiffness is a bit different, but for this video we customized the 2020 EZONE 98, to the same specs as his old DR98 racquets, so they would maneuver very similarly. Troy, TW
I have the unstrung frame specs: 97 headsize, 310 grams, 31cm or 12.2 inch balance, 290 swingweight, and 16x19 pattern. Those are manufacturer target specs for unstrung. He has tried the VCORE Pro racquets a while back when they were released, and although he mentioned that he loves the feel and precision, he likes that the EZONE gives him a little boost in power and feels a bit more forgiving. But yes, the weight and swingweight is right in his wheelhouse for the 97 (330), but we would have to tail-weight a bit to get closer to his preferred balance, and then he would be a bit high in the overall weight. Troy, TW
That is the 95, also spec'd up pretty close to those other racquets. He actually gave it a try and we talk about in the podcast soon to come, where he announces his new racquet pick. Troy, TW
@@johnnyguitar6697, Yeah it does seem to be, pretty good feel, control, precision, but a bit more forgiving and decent power for a 95. A bit of weight in the hoop does help as well, to make it feel a bit more solid. Troy, TW

Hey TW Team!! Nice video!! Same tension on the Ezones 98 and 98 Tour? The Tour has much more weight in the thoat, fixed that with the lead to polarize it? Even with the lead, I think you could feel the more wieght in the throat and different movement thru the air. Did Andy try the FX500 Tour? Comments on it?
Thanks. Yes same tension and gauge of Solinco Confidential for both EZONE 98, and 98 Tour. With the 98 Tour it was pretty much all tail-weighting with tungsten putty inside the butt cap, since the swingweight was already very close to his target 332 SW strung. He did try the FX 500 Tour, and he did enjoy it, but if I recall he mentioned that he felt a little less connection to the ball, and found it to be a bit lively, or the power was a bit much for him to control.
Troy, TW
Any info about when the prince twist power will be available for sale ? And what about review on them ?

@Tobias Christensen,

@@tenniswarehouse any idea if it will be coming to EU? :)
3 legends right there
That Prince 97 twist tour looks interesting 👍
The Prince Twist Power X97 tour, please take my money already, what date does it come out ?
the twisted throat looks weird

Andy is back
Andy is back!
Been out of the game for awhile, now people are stringing in mid forties? Is this just with poly stuff or more normal as a whole?
@Kevin Cook,
It really is a matter of personal preference to be honest! Some players love that low tension, plush pocketing feel while others like it to be stiff and boardy. We recommend just starting at mid tension and going up or down from there to see what you prefer!
Michelle, TW
does andy like the yellow dr 9& or blue dr 98 more? is there a difference?
He has used both in the past, and didn't mention a difference for him. Troy, TW
YONEX DR 98 SUPREMACY
Thought he might check out the Vore 98/98+
Can the new ezone 98 be the same with the DR after customizations? @Tennis Warehouse
Not really the same, as the stiffness is a bit different, but for this video we customized the 2020 EZONE 98, to the same specs as his old DR98 racquets, so they would maneuver very similarly. Troy, TW
x97 specs? also why no vcore pro 97 330? seems by default closer to his spec?
Troy, TW
here is our strung specs: www.tennis-warehouse.com/Prince_Twistpower_X97_Tour/descpageRCTWABG-TWIS97.html
Hey Troy, I notice you're holding a Vcore, which version is it? 98 or 95?
That is the 95, also spec'd up pretty close to those other racquets. He actually gave it a try and we talk about in the podcast soon to come, where he announces his new racquet pick. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse The 95 seems a bit of a hit with players of a decent level, isn't it?
@@johnnyguitar6697, Yeah it does seem to be, pretty good feel, control, precision, but a bit more forgiving and decent power for a 95. A bit of weight in the hoop does help as well, to make it feel a bit more solid. Troy, TW
i like that plain Karatsev style polo Andy is rocking. does TW sell that? lol
haha, I also asked him what type of polo he had on, and he mentioned that it was lululemon. I believe it is this one in the midnight shadow/tempest blue color, shop.lululemon.com/p/men-tops/Metal-Vent-Tech-Polo-Two/_/prod4030329?color=41982. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse lol Troy you are the man
so is he back or just visiting
He was visiting and doing some coaching while he was in the area, but now off to go run an academy!
We have a podcast coming up where we talk about a couple of racquets that didn't make the video, such as that one and the VCORE 95. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Always great to read back from you Troy. Sounds good and interesting. Will sure tune in. It would be great if you could do a video call session with some of your public and tw fans/friends to talk gear. I could be invited maybe? 😁 have a great weekend Zurdou!
Oh my God Andy is back?
He was back long enough to get his racquets all dialed-in! But now off to go run a tennis academy. Troy, TW
What happened to Andy? Why is he gone for a long time?
@GamingHandpiece,
He moved on a few years ago to pursue other endeavors. Think he is at a tennis academy in Northern California right now!
Michelle, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Thanks Michelle!
Like the old days when Andy sold me the dr98, dr98+ etc...
Andy's great objective critical thinker and solid strokes showed. Am surprised that Serves were not in the tests. Next time.
different strings on all the racquets? makes it hard
Pretty much all of them had either Confidential (Andy's current string of choice) or Hyper-G, all same gauge and pretty much close in tension. Both strings are ones that he is very familiar with, and with all the years Andy tested racquets for us, he has a pretty good gauge for what he is feeling especially with two strings that are as close as those two are. Furthermore, after this video he tested the final candidates in depth, all with exact same strings and tension. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse thanks for the explanation, makes sense ❤️
4:58 he’s a legend :D
What forehand grip is Andy using?
@Ferrer Herchie Ong,
Semi-western - is that what you mean? Or do you want to know the overgrip? Which is Tourna.
Michelle, TW
What line of string was it that Andy recommends?
He is currently using the Solinco Confidential 16L (1.25mm). Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Didn't he mention a little know brand in the video? Maybe I imagined it.
What are the rough specs of the Twist 97 Tour?
I have the unstrung frame specs: 97 headsize, 310 grams, 31cm or 12.2 inch balance, 290 swingweight, and 16x19 pattern. Those are manufacturer target specs for unstrung. Troy, TW
