Very helpful in making my decision, thanks! Just to confirm, the lower risers are the lowest profile ones correct? The RCL6 on their site I believe. No issues with the lower height? Again, thanks for the video and the info!
Great video! Very helpful esp seeing you pull out the garage, that has been our biggest concern as we would like to still fit in the garage with tent on.. do you mind sharing your height from ground to tent?
Love the setup! For your Rhino Rack Backbone system, did you have to drill into your hardtop to mount? Also is that better than using the existing lip on the hardtop? We are looking into putting a rack and possibly a tent on our JLU 4XE in the future and just researching our options. Thanks
Yes, backbone requires drilling into hard top but the system comes with detailed instructions and templates. There is no need to remove hard top to install which is nice. Also, you can remove hard top if wanted by only removing a couple bolts. This is the 2nd one I have installed. I’m not sure the exact amount of weight rain gutters will hold but I wouldn’t personally trust it for a tent. Especially when off roading and throwing all that weight around. You could go external cage like Gobi but they require a lot of install steps and seem to be heavy since steel. That’s why we went with Rhino Rack. And if you do cross bars instead of pioneer platform it will save you some weight as well. I’ve had both for my tents and cross bars are easier. Hope this answers your question and good luck with whatever you decide to do. As long as you’re out in nature it’s all good.
I have installed the system on three different JLUs including a 4xe. I agree with Adventure Bound Couple, and wouldn't trust the fiberglass gutter on the hardtop to hold up. The Backbone system transfers weight directly to the body of the JLU and its rated static and dynamic loads are sufficient for the Skycamp 2.0
Hi there, what type of Rocksliders do you have on your vehicle, look good and allow to stand on without sticking to much out of the body. Regards from Germany
Hello Mr. Weyrouch! We have Rock Hard 4x4 Patriot Series. Old school functional ones that bolt to body mounts and pinch seam. Super happy with them and worked great in Moab and here in Northern California. Good luck!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! Don’t have the tent on right now but I remember we did flip the brackets on the awning upside down so it would be lower. As far as distance I think we were maybe 2” away. So if brackets not flipped maybe 4”. Hope this helps in some way. Enjoy!
Thanks for the video! Now if only I could raise my garage ceiling... Quick question: How much does the IKamper 2.0 cover the front roof panels? Are you able to enjoy the convertible front or does the Ikamper take up most of the view of the sky. Thanks! Brendan
The video is very helpful👍. Our JEEP Wrangler JL 4dr has just completed the installation of Rhino Rack Bare Backbone and ordered Pioneer Platform. I think it will be very heavy after adding Ikamper 2.0. Now I plan to return Pioneer Platform and replace it with your cross bar. Are you using Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Cross Bar? If not, please tell me the model number, thank you very much!
Hey! Thanks for this great video. I'm looking at getting the same tent with the Rhino RCL crossbars. What is your report on wind noise and Wind drag/ Gas Mileage with the RTT installed?
It’s an awesome setup. The tent was much lighter than our Tepui Hybox. There is really no wind noise and gas mileage going to Moab was about 19mpg fully loaded but we have 4cyl. As far as racks and tents go I think it’s the best setup if you want more room than a clamshell type tent has to offer. Good luck and enjoy the outdoors!
I love the way this looks. Are you ok with the Rhino rack mount system you are using? I checked its load rating for 3 cross bars and it was around 264 lbs....
Yes, Rhino Rack has been great. Last JK we had platform but seemed to grab cross winds more even with tent off. This time went bars and no problems. We have tent plus 350 lbs when sleeping and no issues. In fact if you add Jackery weight when we bring it up there is even more. Drove to Moab with tent and no issues at all. Also you save weight in comparison to the pioneer platform. Hope this helps…..
@@fomoadventures The rack design looked very sturdy with the interior structural bars going all the way down to the body of the Jeep for bracing. It looked like the weight would not be a problem. Thanks for the confirmation...great video by the way! Happy trails......
Hi, Thanks for the great video. I am planning to install skycamp2.0 and rhino rack batwing on rhino rack 3 cross bars. Does skycamp2.0 interfere with batwing? (I was curious because the batwing was removed in the later videos)
Our garage door is pretty tall at 92”. So JL with 2 1/2” Metalcloak lift with 35 BFG KO2’s and using rhino rack short legs got us in without rubbing or airing down or throwing my wife on top of the spare. 😂
Thanks! We thought of that but didn’t want to do each time going in/out of garage so tried to figure out a way not to have to do that each time. Even though ARB twin is fast it still takes time and we keep our vehicles garaged. We actually swapped out the quick release mounts to the shorter fixed mounts for the rack and now no issues at all. 👍
Brilliant presentation, great looking Jeep and appreciate your efforts - thanks and well done!
Thank you! We appreciate you!
That was AWESOME!!!! We tow our jeep behind our class A rv and that tent will be out next big purchase!!!
Thank you! We would like to do the same in the future- get an RV and tow our Jeep 😁
@@fomoadventures then you'd REALLY have to raise the garage door!!

Maybe couple inches. But you can always adjust if too close.

We are glad you enjoyed our video. The skycamp does not interfere with batwing. We removed just to save on weight for our long trip to UTAH.
Thank you for the information. It is very helpful.
I would love to do overlanding on the vast American land someday!!!

How tall is your garage door? I’m wondering if I would clear my garage with the same setup

Exact name of the jeep? Nice set
2020 JLU Rubicon
What brand and model is your cross bar to hold the Ikamper 2.0?
Rhino rack Backbone System
does the ladder retract when you are in the tent?
We have never tried to retract the ladder while in the tent although I would think it’s possible 🤷♀️
@@fomoadventures thanks - actually that provides support i think, so a silly question on my part 😀
What roof rack do you have?
