I made the mistake of buying some budget shoes, but there's really no reason to do that. As you showed at the end, you can always find some really great deals for last year's "high-end" models. The difference between something like an Asics Gel Excite and an Asics Novablast is big but they can potentially be found for the same price.

I just got my new novablast 2 a week ago at around 70usd. But the manufacturer date was April 2021 and that was my concern. I am newbie in running. Do i need to be worried about the quality of shoes with long manufacturing date? I have no experience on that. Thanks.

If on a budget, which we all should be, last seasons color way can be a HUGE savings, example. Nike Infinity Run FK 3, MSRP $160 USD, purchased $93 USD this week @ REI. Also purchased Nike Pegasus 39 MSRP $130 USD, purchased $76 USD @ Road Runner's Sports. Both this year, just end of season colors.... as a cost savings idea. Another great video Ben!

Atreyu Base Model. US$85. Comfy, soft, light, lots of ground feel. I've comfortably done up to 10 miles in them. Like the ones you've chosen, I'd do 5k, maybe 10k in them for racing if I had to. I love them most for recovery runs, though.

Adidas seems to have great sales on their website. Last week, I grabbed a pair of the Adizero Boston 11 for $35 during their spring sale. When I first started running in January, I got the Adizero Adios 7 for $40. Both seem rather controversial with reviewers, but I've loved them so far.

I like a zero drop shoe with some width in the toe box so run exclusively on Altra's. I found a pair of their new Vanish Carbon's for over £100 off which I couldn't pass by. That deal is now gone and they're full price (£220 which is too much imo). Having never run in a carbon plate shoe before they felt strange but did actually make me go faster!

Back in 2017 my first pair of proper running shoes were NB 880's from a NB outlet for £45, I thought they were great and got some newer versions of them in the next year or so. I tried other shoes but didn't get on with any of them until I got some Nike pegs version 35, I loved them, I still have a silver pair of ver. 35's hardly worn, I'll have to try them sometime see how they feel now. I have a pair of 35's shield in black(outlet £35), I think I did one run in them, they were ok but your feet do get a bit warm but I must have walked more than 500 miles in them and the sole still has zero sign of wear, tip, best walking shoes are running shoes. I have some NB 1080's ver.11's about £50 from an outlet, not for me running wise but look great and feel great walking in them. When I got my first pair of Peg turbo 2's I realised what a bit difference a shoe can make to your running, I still have a lovely blue pair with hardly any wear on them, I keep threatening myself to have a run in them to see what they are like compared to Vaporflys and Alphaflys.

I used to buy all my shoes based on how much I saved, which meant I bought most shoes from Wiggle. The worst shoes were Puma Ignite Ultimate Layered. They were probably close to 400g in a UK 9. I considered them training shoes and they worked okay when I was fitter than my running partner. I got 1000km out of them but I definitely should have retired them much earlier because a massive chunk of the heal foam had rubbed off. When they got wet it was not fun!

This is an excellent video. It's a pity you don't have wide feet, so you could talk about running shoes for the wider foot. I bought some ASICS Gel Nimbus recently, as I was looking for more cushioning and a longer life expectancy than my Brooks Ghost. My foot overhung the sole of the ASICS on both sides. They sell wide in the USA and Canada, but not in the UK and won't post them from abroad either. I find New Balance 1080 too narrow too. I mainly use inov8, as I do more trail than road, but I'm looking for a comfortable road shoe for long training runs and marathons.

Ben, forget toasters mate. The best toast is made under the grill in the over or in a pan on the stove with a bit of olive oil. Once I discovered this I binned my toaster and haven’t looked back since. That was nearly 20 years ago. Try it, it’ll change your life.

Was looking for a daily trainer where I can just accumulate miles. Reserving my other shoes for special runs.
Was eyeing for Invincible 3 but was too expensive for me (id rather buy a racing shoe with that price). Then I found an Infimity React Flyknit 3 at 45% off, last stock and it was my size like it was meant to be. Its a great shoe for my purpose and looks great. So happy with that find. 😁

I have both the symmetros and the Floatride energy adventure. Both bought heavily discounted. The Floatride adventure is probably my favourite daily trainer as it can handle light trails as well.

Asics 33-M was a dandy shoe, and I'm a shoe snob. I'm ALL about comfort. Don't know why they got rid of it. It was cushioned really well, and my first intro to 4mm drop shoes. I had two pair of those. New about $50

Bought the Asics Gel Excite 7, on sale, a year and a half ago as a new runner at age 54, weighing 107kg (now 96.5kg). After 1200 km the integrity in the arches is starting to go. Think they were worth every penny. Time for an upgrade.

Another for the Gel Excite, picked up a pair for 30 quid in an outlet which I use in bad weather. No issues at all although never go over 600km in trainers due to stress in old joints

Last year I bought Adizero Adios 6. Pretty light and breathable but absolute discrace when talking about durability. Ripped open on both thumbs, ripped insides and the sole is worned out to the smoothness. And I'm not even running long distances (8km, 2-3 times a week). Last pair was cheaper lasted for 3 years. So yesterday I bought Nike Revolution 7 just for the fun of it. If I destroy them in a year is just 55€ well spent.

I’m just getting into running and browsing around. I’m planning on getting two pairs of shoes in 2024 to start building a rotation. I’m hoping to get some older models for a good price in the 80-120 range. Hoping to get a shoe like the Novablast and a shoe like the Pegasus to start the rotation

Great video I am looking for a new pair of shoes for this years great north run. I will have a budget of around £200 this will be the most I have spent on a pair so videos like this is a big help as I get a betting idea on what is available and the sort of shoes to look at. If you could recommend any I should look at for the half marathon distance that would be a great help. Thanks for the great content I really enjoy watching our channel. 👍👍

I can do a reasonably supplied Marathon and half marathon pace. Met to NCAA Division 1 on 5 and close to 10k. Might have had a racewalk record in in a Nike JV2 Revolution 6. They are 41.00. Horrid on wet trail running conditions. Still need a New Balance there.

I bought 3 shoes for £130 total (Adidas Duramo 10, ASICS Jolt 3, and New Balance 680 v7) and they are all suitable and sufficient for my HM training block. I’ve found that the budget level running shoes from the large companies are fine for the average recreational runner, and can save you a fortune…..

The best bargain I got. Someone wore a pair of Nike Winflo 7s (when they first came out), wore them a couple of times, and they ripped along the side where the big toe is. They donated them to Rerun Clothing who stitched and glued the rip up and I got them for free. Got over 800 miles out of them before they ripped again.
