Snow, I have to say that I teared up when you stood on the edge and lifted the poles. So happy for you.
FIRST VISITED THE Dolomites in 1984, first visit to Europe. We had befriended one on the local master wood carvers and stayed in their holiday apartment. One day we went on a hike up to Seceda. Took 2 ski lifts and walked about 1/3 of the rest of the way up. Had a little picnic and then hiked all the way down to Ortisei. It took 6 hours to hike down. Legs were noodles when we got back! What a memory!
So pleased for you that you have been able to achieve a bucket list experience. Perfectly understandable that you were emotional. It was emotional to share that with you. Amazing achievement. Well done Snow!

WOO HOOO! Thank you Snow for doing it for the rest of us as well. Without you and Curt I probably would never have been able to see this. Made me cry! Something you might want to do that will help you with altitude is Chloroxy by Herbs, Etc. Been using it for years. I live above 7,200 feet in Northern New Mexico and started using it years ago when I would come here to visit from sea level. What it does is help oxygenate your blood so it will help put a much lighter load on your heart and it will help avoid altitude sickness. Just follow the instructions and drink it in water. I would drink it once or twice a day while you are traveling in all those mountains. If you cannot get it in Europe have your relatives send it to you. It will help both you and Curt immensely. Congratulations and keep on keeping on!

Seceda was the highlight of our last trip to Italy. So happy you got to make it to the end of the world! I didn't want to leave that beautiful place. It reminded me of the first time I laid eyes on Yosemite Valley in California. Just takes your breath away! Congrats, Snow!

7yrs ago I rode a bike for 1st time at age 50 and w/in 5 months of training from that 1st wobbly questionable bike ride, I cycled an East Coast biking event of 62 miles in an unrushed but steady pace in 5hrs 11mins. Better yet, I accomplished 3 rides prior in practice of 70 miles each. I NEVER dreamed after raising 7 children + my 2 nieces would I accomplish such a goal. Cycling remains one of my new favorite joys.

Snow, your perseverance paid off, I'm so glad you were able to see one of your 5 "wonders of the world". Taking in the scenery I tried to imagine the scale of it being right there. My tummy "bottoms out" at heights like that, and I don't know that I'd venture to an edge with no guardrails. But thanks to you and Curt for sharing the majesty of this piece of the Dolomites.

Don't over do it, but in managed fashion, this kind of activities would really help you and exercising your heart, make it stronger, Snow!!! Every time, you do this, to extend your normal heart work, get a good rest (for your heart)! The more you do this, the stronger heart would get to. But make sure you don't eat too much, especially starch, to put on your weight again. Well done, both of you!!!
Those are some scary big rocks. Leaning way too far over. I would be so frighting to live below all that. And, they are still growing and moving up still higher. Amazing.

I am so glad you both have taken the time to hike the beautiful Dolomites. These are one of the most incredible geological wonders on our planet. To think that these mountains were once tropical sedimentary sea beds, pushed up and then eroded since the Jurassic era…. Incredible.

Oh, Snow, I was tearing up right along with you. I know (or I think I do!) how moving it can be to reach a personal goal we thought we never would. I'm so glad you just bullied on through. You know your body. Listening to your breathing made me wonder if there would be any advantage to carrying oxygen with you. I know they make little devices that generate oxygen out of the air.

GET AWAY FROM THE EDGE! You guys are going to kill me with your death-defying, harrowing, cliff-hugging walks/drives. Just kidding - I am SO HAPPY that you were able to cross this off your bucket list. It has been quite a journey that you two have shared with us, so considering the health challenges that you've faced, I can feel in my bones how much it means to you to have been able to get right up to the edge of the mountain ridge, even if it makes me squirm uncontrollably due to my extreme fear of heights... :)
