  • Budheads,
    With the help of my buddy, I really lucked out at the thrift store with this find! Hard to believe somebody just gave this away. Nonetheless, super stoked to have it in my collection.
    If you know anything about this amp, please drop a comment below.
    Take care!

    Love your score dude, right on! The classic tube amp from Fender which is their re-visited and updated version of their original 410 Bassman, but setup for guitar with reverb and channel switching. I found one on my door step a few years ago: a friend was cleaning out one of his rental units and found it, and knew I was guitar player. I put in all new tubes and set the bias to specs, then tweaked it a tiny bit to get the tone I wanted by replacing the Master volume pot with an audio taper pot of the same value. A 12UA7 in the driver position tames it down a little for a smoother overdrive. Congratulations.

      BTW, your is a made in USA version, and don't listen to anyone down playing them, as the 410 version is no longer available new. There are simple updates you can do to make it like the later versions, but IMO the audio taper master volume make a huge differance and makes playing at lower levers much easier to adjust. I would check the speaker plug at the amp and connections to the speakers, as a bad connection can overload the amp and blow a fuse. Be sure to mark the jack where it is plugged in because there are two jacks, and they are not marked; one for internal speakers, the other is for external cabinets. I would replace the output tubes and check /adjust the bias, since you don't know how much use they have had. BTW, never turn on the amp with the standby switch in the ON position, it shocks the tubes with 450 volts before they warm up, to be sure the standby switch is off before turning on the amp, and let it warm up for a couple minute before turning on the standy switch. Your tubes will last 30% longer and thank you.

    Great video!! What a find!!! Those are bada$$ amps. It’s the big, big bro to my Blues Jr so I know what you mean with how loud it can get. All tube too, I’ll bet it sounds awesome.
    Hope you bought your Buddy a beer (or two or three) for looking out!!

    Get the JHS little black amp box and you can crank it up to get it hot without having the neighbors call the cops. Best $28 I ever spent. I never heard mine really scream until that. You need the little black amp box!

    • @JohnBudnikBand

      @JohnBudnikBand with the JHS box you can crank it to distortion but keep it at bedroom practice volume. I never heard it really hum until I turned it UP! you scored BIG TIME ! enjoy! 😎

    I just bought the 410 iii for 900 bucks. Mint condition though. Red October edition. You still using the amp? Best thrift store find ever for me was a 1970s strat for 50 bucks only a few years ago too.

    My girl was scrolling Facebook marketplace one day like maybe 7 or so years ago, and told me to come see an amp someone was selling for $40, a 212 Hot Rod DeVille, I couldn't drive over there fast enough, I asked if i could bring a guitar to test the knobs and all, and they said ya. Everything worked fine, i still can't believe it. I now run it with my Fender M-80 212, where the DeVille is the dry dark amp, and the M-80 is the bright amp running most of the wet effects, and has a stereo fx loop for my stereo pedals, so I get a wet/dry setup with a stereo feel. The DeVille, that doesn't have wheels, sits perfectly on top of the M-80, that does have wheels, so it sorta feels like one amp, not a left/right situation.

      @@JohnBudnikBand oh i am! Those two amps sound like they were made for eachother as far as my ears tell me. I've been enjoying the two-amp setup for maybe 2 years now, and it's only added to my love of both amps tenfold!

    • @skepticalbystander
      @skepticalbystander 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JohnBudnikBand and I've had the M-80 for more like 12 or 13 years, maybe even longer, but never thought to put em together, and never had an ABY box til I decided to try, and man, my tone is outa this world, I have a Source Audio EQ2 sending different eq curves to both amps, and it's just insane how nice it sounds. I run a Radial Twin City for an awesome stereo signal. And I like putting my shimmer verb in the "dry" DeVille so it's a darker shimmer, but it doesn't layer on any delay or my other verb pedals or mods, keeps things not so nuts when I'm using "too many" pedals at the same time. The MXR 5150 with the gain just below noon is my main deathmetal distortion, with an EHX East River for that bit more saturation when i want it, and man this setup cooks! I don't like it nearly as much, but both amps' distortions with their gains at max is also a pretty fun sound, i already loved the M-80's fuzz-like distortion, but like most people am neither here nor there about the DeVille's distortion, but both together are more than twice as good as they are apart. I lucked out with this setup for sure!!

    The difference is, the earlier amps were made in the U.S. (like mine 1999) the later ones were and are MIM.
    Either way these are monster amps, great for gigging. On an average the 410's go for $500.00 to $600.00 used and new $1,199.00. This amp you bought is a steal at $299.00

    there has been 3 revisions made to this amp over the years so 4 versions , yours looks like the first version and less desirable , which is partly why there is a price difference among them , but prices vary greatly on 2 amps exactly the same lots of times ...
