Such a shame that her character took a backseat somewhere in the middle like she lost her purpose in the story. She started like a brewing storm, bringing intrigue in her every actions; but slowly, she just became a character that happens to be there.

Thus, There are better ways to give a hint about the prima facie nature of the game other than the detective subplot. The nature game could've have been a "mystery box" to be opened on season 2. If you are not aware of the "Mystery box" technique; it's where you show hints about something but deliberately withdraws major information to build intrigue for later revelation. Going back, the detective subplot should've been saved for season 2 where the plot goes outside the game itself but into the people behind it. The thematic goal for the main casts in season 1 should've been "To Win" the game. Season 2 can now be, "To Beat" it. Season 1 will be main casts v. other players. Season 2 will be main casts v. the administration. Gun-hi and detective can be the main characters working with each other.

But I agree with the detective supporting plot. I actually don’t give a damn about who’s behind the game and why, since it holds no emotional value to the protagonist nor the story. Such a charismatic character. Has a great mix of pretty and handsome, is typically cold but has a good heart, very clever, helps out other loners, and she knows how to hold her own. The whole time I thought Hoyeon should’ve had quite the acting experience, but to think she was a first timer? How talented. She’s so cute and bubbly irl too, in contrast to her character.
The marbles episodes was incredibly moving and sad, yes, but the episode where she died completely wrecked me. I cried for a whole hour afterwards. Great character, she's such an amazing actress!

I watched this last night to see what the hype was about. I couldn't stop watching this show. I thought it was really good. The acting was just so outstanding. Every situation they were in I was just drawn in. Man it was really good.

Man, at least _Ali_ died due to a preventable mistake that was consistent with his character. Front Man established *SOOO* many times that these games have to be fair and give everyone an equal footing, constantly killing/sparing/meddling with participants to level the playing field for everyone, yet he threw Sae-byeok _immediately_ into a mandated death game (there were only supposed to be 6, but I'd say the knife room counts bc they're competing against each other to proceed to the next round) with a fatal injury that wasn't the fault of her or any other participant, but literally the game itself injuring her when they were all supposedly in the "safe zone" already. She had won!! And there's no way she could hide that kind of injury from the pink soldiers, especially not with how smartly dressed she was in her suit. If she did that on her own then there would definitely have been noticeable blood stains on it, and if she didn't then there's no way the soldiers didn't see that wound even if she'd patched it up. They were monitoring the game as well and have footage of the moment she was injured. Yet they won't spare her for a minute like they did Han Mi-nyeo??? Thats not just bs, that's straight up garbage writing. Kill the woman if you must, but at LEAST make it make sense... *Edit:* Since it looks like some of yall werent paying attention, the games also have to be as fair as possible because the richest men in the world are literally sponsoring these games and staking their own money on players. Imagine betting for Sae-byeok because of how resourceful and cunning she is, and seeing her random fatal injury. Or, because the show loves to compare this act to betting on race horses, imagine staking your paycheck on horse #67, and then halfway through the race the event organizer shoots that horse in the leg even though she was in the lead. No competent Front Man would DARE to do something so stupid. So yeah, bad writing.
In fairness both Gisu and Sangwoo were in the same place with SaeByuk when the glass bridge exploded, and they got injured too, only not to the severity that she had. You can argue that its their luck, but they would argue that its because they reacted more quickly. So I would think the fairness still stands.
@@luvtiti in my opinion none of the games were fair. Being fair is always giving a 50-50 chance to everyone. However, in every single game there were players with better chances. I think this is also a way for the show to deliver the message that real equality and equity dont exist.

Remember the writers are purposefully constructing how the story unfolds. They _chose_ to kill Sae-Byeok, and they _chose_ to do it in such a way that robs a central character of her autonomy completely. Remember the first game? All the winners had to be in a zone within the doll's blind spots, so when time ran out she shot everyone that was still in range _outside_ of that zone. Could you imagine if the safe zone was put 5 feet away from the doll where she could shoot them anyway? Could you imagine if Ali or Sang-woo or whoever had to proceed with a shot-up leg? That's essentially what the stepping stones game was. They could have EASILY set up a boundary at the end that closes immediately when time runs out and provides a barrier, but instead the writers chose the absolute laziest way imaginable to remove a central character that we all love and respect _just because_ the writers also chose for there to only be one winner.

He shot the doctor point-blank and dimmed the lights so the glass manufacturer couldn't distinguish the different panels. For everything else, like raw physical ability for example, the groups were never *assigned.* You and you alone had to have the charisma and ability to identify strong players, and convince them that you could help them as well. Example: Oh Il-nam is such a sweet old man that there's no way you could leave him behind even if it hindered your odds of success. Ha Mi-nyeo is actually quite clever and resourceful, and I'd consider having her on my team if I was running out of options, but her shitty charisma got her rejected by everyone. I'd personally consider that grounds to eliminate her on the spot, but Front Man spared her because he's THAT anal about making the games as fair as possible, and it's just another damning piece of evidence for how little sense Sae-Byeok's death makes. The games _are_ fair enough.

Such a shame that her character took a backseat somewhere in the middle like she lost her purpose in the story. She started like a brewing storm, bringing intrigue in her every actions; but slowly, she just became a character that happens to be there.

There are better ways to give a hint about the prima facie nature of the game other than the detective subplot. The nature game could've have been a "mystery box" to be opened on season 2.
If you are not aware of the "Mystery box" technique; it's where you show hints about something but deliberately withdraws major information to build intrigue for later revelation.
Going back, the detective subplot should've been saved for season 2 where the plot goes outside the game itself but into the people behind it.
The thematic goal for the main casts in season 1 should've been "To Win" the game. Season 2 can now be, "To Beat" it. Season 1 will be main casts v. other players. Season 2 will be main casts v. the administration. Gun-hi and detective can be the main characters working with each other.
@@rocketeer101 that’s a really good point. Actually supporting characters are in the end, just devices that help the protagonist on their journey to change and enhance the message of the story. But I agree with the detective supporting plot. I actually don’t give a damn about who’s behind the game and why, since it holds no emotional value to the protagonist nor the story. They should’ve focused on the game internally and what it means for every character In my opinion.
This actress and also a beautiful model, 😊is amazing, her character was really fearless and brave and she was one of the the last to be on the games although she dies not because of a game but when glass shattered in the 5th game she got hurt badly allso because sangwoo stabbed her and she died officially which was so sad😔 I even cried when that happened , but to be honest we got to see the best of saebeyok , I am so glad to see this show.

Man, at least _Ali_ died due to a preventable mistake that was consistent with his character. Front Man established *SOOO* many times that these games have to be fair and give everyone an equal footing, constantly killing/sparing/meddling with participants to level the playing field for everyone, yet he threw Sae-byeok _immediately_ into a mandated death game (there were only supposed to be 6, but I'd say the knife room counts bc they're competing against each other to proceed to the next round) with a fatal injury that wasn't the fault of her or any other participant, but literally the game itself injuring her when they were all supposedly in the "safe zone" already. She had won!! And there's no way she could hide that kind of injury from the pink soldiers, especially not with how smartly dressed she was in her suit. If she did that on her own then there would definitely have been noticeable blood stains on it, and if she didn't then there's no way the soldiers didn't see that wound even if she'd patched it up. They were monitoring the game as well and have footage of the moment she was injured. Yet they won't spare her for a minute like they did Han Mi-nyeo??? Thats not just bs, that's straight up garbage writing. Kill the woman if you must, but at LEAST make it make sense...
*Edit:* Since it looks like some of yall werent paying attention, the games also have to be as fair as possible because the richest men in the world are literally sponsoring these games and staking their own money on players. Imagine betting for Sae-byeok because of how resourceful and cunning she is, and seeing her random fatal injury. Or, because the show loves to compare this act to betting on race horses, imagine staking your paycheck on horse #67, and then halfway through the race the event organizer shoots that horse in the leg even though she was in the lead. No competent Front Man would DARE to do something so stupid. So yeah, bad writing.
In fairness both Gisu and Sangwoo were in the same place with SaeByuk when the glass bridge exploded, and they got injured too, only not to the severity that she had. You can argue that its their luck, but they would argue that its because they reacted more quickly. So I would think the fairness still stands.
@@luvtiti in my opinion none of the games were fair. Being fair is always giving a 50-50 chance to everyone. However, in every single game there were players with better chances. I think this is also a way for the show to deliver the message that real equality and equity dont exist.

Remember the writers are purposefully constructing how the story unfolds. They _chose_ to kill Sae-Byeok, and they _chose_ to do it in such a way that robs a central character of her autonomy completely.
Remember the first game? All the winners had to be in a zone within the doll's blind spots, so when time ran out she shot everyone that was still in range _outside_ of that zone. Could you imagine if the safe zone was put 5 feet away from the doll where she could shoot them anyway? Could you imagine if Ali or Sang-woo or whoever had to proceed with a shot-up leg? That's essentially what the stepping stones game was. They could have EASILY set up a boundary at the end that closes immediately when time runs out and provides a barrier, but instead the writers chose the absolute laziest way imaginable to remove a central character that we all love and respect _just because_ the writers also chose for there to only be one winner.

He shot the doctor point-blank and dimmed the lights so the glass manufacturer couldn't distinguish the different panels. For everything else, like raw physical ability for example, the groups were never *assigned.* You and you alone had to have the charisma and ability to identify strong players, and convince them that you could help them as well.
Example: Oh Il-nam is such a sweet old man that there's no way you could leave him behind even if it hindered your odds of success. Ha Mi-nyeo is actually quite clever and resourceful, and I'd consider having her on my team if I was running out of options, but her shitty charisma got her rejected by everyone. I'd personally consider that grounds to eliminate her on the spot, but Front Man spared her because he's THAT anal about making the games as fair as possible, and it's just another damning piece of evidence for how little sense Sae-Byeok's death makes. The games _are_ fair enough.
