Damn you got some great deals my friend, $1,500 for the bus and $1,600 for the trailer holy shit great deal especially the trailer. That trailer even if the fires was all through the trailer would of been 10x that price here in California
This is a fantastic build. I love the bus and the slides will make it much more livable. I have seen busses with transitions in the roof line like yours and I have seen them with the entire roof raised. Why did you do a tradition vs raising the entire roof? Great job!
I did the transition for aerodynamic and I didn’t like the look of the big font front. Also I wouldn’t have done a 24” raise but to get the slides to fit I needed to. Glad you like the build
what engine an drive train does the bus have and how fast will it run on the highway? I know of a couple skoolie builds that don't do well on the hwy because those were never intended for highway, so are though. Nice job, the rook raising was a great idea.
It has the t444e and the at545 tranny I know it’s not what everyone wants but it’s all I could find for sale up here in Alaska. It had a speed governor at 56mph I had that turned off now I’m running up against the rev/rpm governor which I’m going to leave because it’s a rear engine bus and I cant here the engine. It cruises around 60 which is fine for the most part up in Alaska with the speed governor off I can atleast get a run at the next hill
Hello sir, I also live in fairbanks. And doing a similar thing on a school bus. Any tips on slide out? Love to chat with you to pick at your brain for some ideas.
@@alex-ovchinnikov I removed my slides from a newer toy hauler I really don’t like the cable style that I have. The are most likely not insulated in the floor so need to frame a new floor that can be insulated. I think pretty much any slide is a little chilly in the winter so I’d only do it if you absolutely need to have it. I have a Facebook page you can follow and message me for more @ DIY Alaskan lifestyle
Nice work! Just discovered your channel the other day and watched a few of your projects. Do you work in the trades? Definitely seem to know what you’re doing 👍
I am curious, when folks do roof raises on skoolies, why go with a transition rather than raising the whole roof, including the part over the driver's area? I know you don't need for ceiling space there, but wouldn't it make the job easier and give you extra space for storage or a bunk bed?
I didn’t like the look of the big flat front and not very aerodynamic, I do like the look people are doing now where the transition starts at the very front of the bus instead of 4 ft back

This is my two cents worth having built two schoolies and then buying a Hiway Coach...if you want to travel the roads, invest in a Gm 4104 etc. as highway coaches are capable of handling the loads that occur when you convert to an RV...when you load up a schoolie, they are always top heavy and handle like a ten pound bag of shit in a five pound bag...they just do not have the stability of a highway coach...now I have never converted a diesel pusher schoolie with the engine in back...but I'm just saying, Hiway Coaches are made to handle excess loads at hiway speeds, don't find out the hard way as I did...Schoolies are ok for putt puttin along but not for coast to coast journeys in comfort...just my opinion from experience, for Gods sakes do not loose the trolls on me...again, from my experience
Ya I agree if I was down in the states I’d def want something that cruised a little faster. For up here the roads are pretty skinny and windy so 60 mph works for me. I have had my eye on the Prevost bus’s maybe in the future. For the handling I think my bus handles the road great but never driven any thing but rv’s
But then he would just have a trailer an average one at that. Now he has a one of a kind beautiful RV that he can drive not pull and he look damn cool doing it. You know he get hundreds of people loving it as he drives by
@@oldsloane also it’s a lot worse on certain devices, when I watched it on my computer after editing it it sounded good when I put it on TH-cam and watched it with sourround sound it sounded horrible I agree. I am learning
Putting the slideout is just an excellent idea. That's taking the skoolie to the next level, imo. Great idea!
Mad skills going on here, I'm blown away
As someone that works in the RV repair industry. That is a pretty dang impressive build.
Cheers
Thank you
Love the intro music ... very rarely I like the music I hear in videos ..🎶
The build is amazing !!!!
Happy travels 💞
oh man part 2 where are you when i need you, this thing looks awesome
That's really nice the best bus I've seen yet
Thank you
This is going to be AWESOME !!! love this project bro. Cheers!
Aah, Whittier, Alaska. There was one bar at the end of the town. Situated on the second floor. Don't remember much from it :D

❤ LIKED ❤️
Yes!!... I have been waiting on this!!
That was a great job 👍
Nice ✨

Not going to lie I saw this and I've lost my mind never thought that would have been possible I've never seen this before

When you say it took a month. Was that at 40 hours per week?
No prob took 80 hrs if I had to guess. I work shift work (half the month) worked on it on my days off
Thanks for the reply! I just got my bud, and my power slide. Excited to make something like your 488. Thanks for sharing man

Dude what's the bumper to bumper length on that jewel?
I think it is 36’ thanks for watching
Yes
More please...
Can I ask about the cost for the slider units?
Everything was removed from a newer fifth wheel RV that had a small fire in it so the cost wasn’t that much, it was a lot of labor though
Wow great idea and this answered my question of "what was the trailer for" lol
Why was 30in too much of a lift? Seems like it would have fit out of the garage.
It just looked to tall to me, also I would have been over 14’ Its 13’7” now
Wow… that’s bad A$$ ✌🏻
Thank you
man either talk louder or get rid of music, you build is very cool though
Yeah I know, it sounds a lot worse on some devices I’ll definitely turn the music way down on upcoming videos. Thanks for the feedback
p2 ?
Coming soon
music is to loud over your voice
Yeah several people have said that, in my next video I’ll turn the music down. I think it is worse on some devices. Thanks for the input

Kill the damn annoying music
This was my first TH-cam video, I’ve learned some people don’t enjoy the music
@@diyalaskanlifestyle It's not a matter of enjoy or not but it is a matter for anyone with hearing loss when the music is louder than the narration.
