  • I have had trouble with the belt tension lately and I replaced the spring and greased the pivot arm assembly.

      In May weather with fast grass growth it's a bad deal...!

    That was good work,but watching you let me know that I need more tools,and you have given me ideas to try on my riding lawn mower that has been sitting for a few years,but that wood dowel,that was some Macgyveresque stuff.Thank you for posting.

    May sound silly...but I've done this several times..shoot carb cleaner in it first,then your penetrating oil/ P.B....let that soak a while and do it again....put a wrench on it and work it till it moves....soak it again and drive it out

    I'd say all that work paid off! Belt tensioner pulleys are a pain in the butt rather it's a mower or car.

      Im working on the 100 buck mower now. Ive already got it running and ive decided that im gonna fix it up and sell it on craigslist.

      Too bad I live a million miles away and broker than a piece of shattered glass, LOL I'd sure buy it! I know if you work on it, it'll be like getting something new for a fraction of the price!

    Just curious...I know this is an old video, but you seemed to be having a hard time there at the end getting that bolted on. What was the problem, and what did it take to fix it? Left me thinking there was a problem getting the nut to thread back on to the shaft.

    Was it throwing the belt? I have the same tractor and it's tossing the belt. I shortened the spring to put more tension and it's still throwing the belt. Seems to move ok but I'll take it off and clean it up i guess.

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the deck is lower than the PTO. There isn't a straight line in the belt to the tensioner. Gonna see if raising the front of the deck helps.

    I have to be honest, I was hoping to see at the ending the vid a grease zerk installed, but it lasted that long.

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the sleeve wasnt so thin,I would have put a grease zerk in,but as it is,it would bottom out against the bolt that goes through the sleeve.

    • @Swanny383
      @Swanny383 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know they make this stuff pretty cheap these days, I had a piece of equipment that had a similar setup and it was hell to pull apart and grease, so I ended up drilling and tapping the top of the bolt/stud so I could get grease into it, all the OEM would have to have done is make the housing a little thicker or did what I did, They just want you to throw it away and buy a new one
      .

    brad, you seem to be very knowledgeable in small engine repair. have you ever considered opening a small shop in your garage? cuz i have a chainsaw like yours that will not stay running and would send it to you for repair, and know that you would fix it right.

    • @bctruck

    install a grease zert on the side of the pin housing....

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The pin housing wall thickness would let the grease zerk bottom out against the the shaft it rides on,or thats what i would have done. I'll just makde sure to keep it oiled from now on and avoid that with the pressure washer when im cleaning the deck. I never mow when its wet and i never leave the mower outside so it wont get wet any other way either.

      BCtruck, rebuild, repair,repurpose

    I would have put a grease fitting on it.

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The grease fitting would hit the bolt when you threaded it in. If the sleeve around the bolt was thicker, that's exactly what I would have done.

    • @JimsEquipmentShed
      @JimsEquipmentShed 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      BCtruck, rebuild, repair,repurpose now that you have your Hobart welder, you can drill a small hole and weld a tiny but that is long enough to accept the zerk fitting.
