    • @Fyxxterzc
      @Fyxxterzc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marcochavanne4749 that was for a sensored brushless. You can do a sensorless setup for around 40 if you already have a decent transmitter and receiver. Probably 100 for a decent esc, brushless motor, and new transmitter and receiver. And at that point I'd probably agree it's better to get a second one. I converted one of mine to brushless and it's more of a basher than a crawler now. I enjoy it though.

    The only issue with this I see is if something were to break you have to replace the unit however I really see the use in this for tight situations or ones where you need to save space I think that is where this unit really shines.
    Would you suggest is if you were doing a trail finder to set up with the interior kind of like you’re doing with your Marty McFly build seems like it would definitely save you some space

    I have driven the Axe stuff and it is great. My only issue with the brushless crawler stuff is drag brake, specifically on a steep decline when transitioning from brake to part throttle. VS a brushed system the brushed motor feels good where the brushless feels a bit weird on the transition. I have not had the opportunity to test the Axe here so would be curious if you could check that out for us. =)

      It's a fair point but if your worried you would install something traditional. These are perfect for scale builds with full interior and limited room for electronics, and you still get some really good performance included.
      Most high quality electronics are super reliable now a days. I've seen one of these pulled a part, they're super waterproof and built well with good sized shielded bearings, ran really cool in a 6 to 7 lb truck on hot day.

    Very good video - as always. I have the HW FOC Axe 540 2300kV in my TRX4 and am super happy with it, in case of "what to buy NOW" i think i would consider (or go) with the Fusion system, as Bluetooth is nice but i don´t really need for a crawler after once finding its sweet spot. Also 50 bugs cheaper and "more integrated / less cables / in some Rig´s better weight balancing possible".
    Wondering if the standard 540 combo performs (noticable) any different than the "standard" Axe Combo. Nice to see any innovation, Motor/ESC "in one" i find much more "useful" than the ESC/Receiver combinations (what axial did).

    Very good concept if it can dissipate the heat good and have lasting durability. You would have figured the racing world would have been using this concept for weight loss and distribution purposes. Leads me to thinking they will heat each other up and have too much thermal loss. Just thinking out loud. Great concept for multiple applications if they don't over heat each part packed together. Great video!

    • @RCReviewChannel
      @RCReviewChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point! I think the key here is they designated crawler application only. The heat demands are usually very low. There's heat sink and fan options too. And pinion.

    • @davidreed3724
      @davidreed3724 4 ปีที่แล้ว

If something go wrong and ECS will broke - it would be impossible to replace it. If you have separate box with ECS - it's not a problem, just disconnect it from motor, buy new one and run again. 3s max voltage. 1200 and 1800 kv options. Heat should not be a crawling issue at those limits. I guess gearing up too high ( if even possible) would be the downfall in the heat department. It is a good option for some imo.

    Great review, what i hate about the trx-4 is that when you go really slow i hear this really high pitch note (iiiiiiiiiiiiii, yeah, something like that..) and it gets super annoying when you are standing close with the camera recording... This alone is a blessing to my ears.. I am interested in what the aprox runtime will be with a 5000mah lipo?

    It’s controlling the stator’s polarity to control the rotor... so both!
    .
    Btw, lower kv does not mean more torque. All else equal, gearing, voltage, and weight, a higher kv motor will make more torque and have a higher rpm. Gear a lower kv motor up to the same wheel speed as a higher kv motor or raise the voltage to get the same rpm and it will make the same power. Lower kv motors allow for more voltage which in turn brings more torque.
    .
    Kv is basically the resistance of the motor. Lower kv reduces the possible current, since voltage = current times resistance (v=ir), as it raises resistance.
    .
    Ask Señor Holmes.

    • @jameshankssr466
      @jameshankssr466 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are wrong KV is rpms per volt it has nothing to do with Resistance senor holmes lied to you

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jameshankssr466 kv does mean rpm per volt but lower kv = more resistance all else equal just as I wrote... unless you think longer thinner wire has the same resistance as shorter thicker wire.
      .
      It’s not a coincidence that the lower the kv rating is the higher the resistance goes all else equal.
      .
      Resistance isn’t the only thing that determines rpm. The size and shape of magnetics, quality of parts, type of winding... but generally all of those attributes are too similar even between manufacturers.

    OK but why? Packaging is easier with a separate esc/motor and heat soak is more of a problem with this setup. Less wires are good sure.... shorten them. Why is the switch separate if AIO is the concept? Might as well have the switch built in too.

    You can’t fit 20 lbs in a 10 lb box, without consequence........they did this to save money. We haven’t even considered the watts of heat created and how it will dissipated.......if heat sinks weren’t necessary, ESC mfg would cut the cost!......The mass of JUST the motor is historically difficult to cool, especially with our closed cans (to keep dirt out). NO thank you😎

    • @RCReviewChannel

      One thing they did is just designate this for crawler. In fact, it has crawler reverse mode only.
      It is a much, much less heat demanding application. Then they have their heat protection mechanisms. Then one can install a heatsink, then a fan. Doubt that it will ever get to that point though in a crawler.
      We'll test it though.
