@@marcushalls4648 Do you have the cover off the points that you can see them? Only thing you can really do at the head is work out piston location then advance / retard timing by rotating points so the contacts break at desired time. Gap is set using feeler gauges… or by eye Left to right should be exact opposite check them to be sure but if not you have other issues. I ended up putting electronic ignition in it because the original parts were that worn it wasn’t reliable (contacts were nearly completely worn away) I changed them for replacement parts but they literally collapsed with a mile and quality points were basically the same price as ignition system and its much more fit and forget only issue is you lose the electric start.
How did you set the timing up and the point gap is there any way you can tell from left to right of the head not the pot but the head
