Thanks, I ended up using a piece of a cord and it absorbed the liquid that was in the port. I forgot that my phone was in my pocket when I replaced the top radiator hose on my Durango today and some of the coolant splashed out on me.

Hey Barbara, you got lucky! What kind of cord did you use where it ended up absorbing the liquid? We're always looking for new solutions. Also, kudos for replacing a radiator hose on your car. I'm pretty good with iPhones, but when it comes to cars, I couldn't be more lost.

That's awesome! I just saw your other comment too! I'm going to add this to the description of the video. You can call me David. :-) Thanks again for your comments and for helping us out.
P.S. I saw a lot of things in the Apple Store, but "antifreeze in the headphone jack" - that's a new one.

If none of the methods does not work, I suggest to use a hair dryer. I tried all the methods and I was not able to fix my iPhone. Once I used the Hair dryer for around 2 minutes my iPhone got out of the headphone mode. Probably this was a water damage.

I used a toothpick and VERY gently moved it around inside the headphone port. (iPhone 6s Plus) started working immediately. Had a tiny bit of some grey substance, probably just dirt and that could have the little headphone jack sensor stuck in. Good as new. 😁

I sometimes have this problem as I like to walk with my iPad Mini, and today was especially bad because it was raining really really hard. It usually gets fixed messing around with the lighting port, Spotify, etc. I have never found what actually fixes the problem. It kind of just fixes itself after trying to fix it for a while. The first time it happened I was concerned, now it’s just something I just got used to.
However, I will point out a very important part. I can tell it’s not a hardware problem because if you go to Settings > Sounds > Ringer and Alerts it will play if you slide that slider. This has always been the case. However, it will go back to headphone mode.
The way I fixed the issue this time was playing with that “Change with Buttons” then turning that on then sliding the knob, turn it off, then slide the knob. Hopefully causing a run condition to trick the iPad. The iPad will send notifications on the top saying Silent mode is on/off when you do this. I’m not sure why this worked or even works as it’s the only part of the OS that produces any sound whatsoever. Not even the ringtones work, just that slider. But it’s working just fine now.
Now to listen to what they are saying in this video.

very helpful video! I would like to add one trick not mentioned. I fell into mud with my cell and got stuck in headphone mode. After resetting my iPhone and cleaning out the jack with a bic pen tube and a wooden skewer it was still stuck. I got all the mud out (there was alot!) but it wasn't good enough to release from headset mode. I figured there might be some water damage but didn't want to hit the apple store just yet. I put my iPhone in a baggy with several silica packs and waited a couple of hours. It worked! I was trying an app thru the baggy and saw that 'Headset' had changed to 'Ringer' and the speaker worked again! Yay!

  • @brokenobjexxx
    @brokenobjexxx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Here’s what I did and it worked great: I took a q-tip and pulled MOST of the cotton off of one end. With most of it removed the end of the q-tip will fit into your headphone jack. I stuck that end of the q-tip into the headphone jack and twisted back and forth. When I pulled it out, it definitely had a bit of “gunk” on the end. After that I flipped my silence switch on and back off and it went back to normal.
    HOPE THIS HELPS

I tried ALL these things and more. Nothing worked, and I knew there could not be anything in the headphone jack after all the cleaning, blowing and suction I put to it. I also was pretty sure no water was involved either, unless the humidity from all the rain got to it, which I rather doubt.
There was an update available for my 6XS, so I manually downloaded it and let the phone install it - Phone fixed itself with the update! Happy!

(This is only for people who have dropped their phone in water or some sort of water damage) If you have tried all of these steps and it is still stuck, turn your phone off, find a radiator, turn it on to low power, balance your phone so your headphone jack is on top of the radiator, and let it sit there for a few hours, keep checking your phone to see if it is overheating by just feeling the phone, it is wise to turn on you phone after every 45 mins to see if it works already. After about 5-6 hours, (give or take), go ahead and turn your phone back on and check. I tried this last night, i dropped my phone in the bath, and it thought that the headphone were plugged in (but they weren't) and the charger port stopped working, so i was worried, the next morning, i took my phone off from the radiator, (after about 8 hours) and it worked perfectly, remember to keep checking the phone to stop it from overheating. i hope this helped, Joel.

Thanks for the brush suggestion, it's the last of several steps and it worked. Other things I did, after turning the phone off and on, I used a q-tip on the head jack port, I inserted the head jack plug into the port which did not go in all the way at first. A little canned air does wonders for cleaning ports too. Then I went into ringtones from settings menu and played a variety of ring tones until it stayed on ringer whenever I depressed the volume button. Then I went into Settings , general and did reset. I did not delete any data, I just did a reset. My screen saver changed colors. After using a long-bristled artists on the headphone port, I'm back to ringer. Thank You

I just fixed mine today. I stuck in Headphones mode for about two days. I tried everything, watch every tutorials on TH-cam but nothing worked. What I did to fix mine is I cleaned the headset port first by using a pin and cotton buds. After cleaning, I played a music on my iPhone while continue plugging and unplugging my headset. Just do it continuously and also press volume button to check if it changed from headphones mode to normal mode. Do it until it goes back to normal. Try it, that's the only solution that works for me. I hope it works for you too.

Did you ever find a solution? Usually, the solutions we recommend won't work if there's a hardware problem. When I worked at Apple, this was one of the most frustrating problems because we couldn't replace just the headphone jack - since it's an integrated part of the logic board, it's expensive. That's why we recommend Puls if you want to save some money, and they'll come to you! You can get a $10 coupon here: www.payetteforward.com/puls-coupon-code-promo/

Ok guys no video suggestions worked but I ended up getting a tooth pick and picking in the headphone jack and charging input and it started working INSTANTLY!!! Some fuzz came out and I think that’s what was stopping it from being in the regular sounds mode. I swear it works idk how but I hope that helps anyone!!! Good luck guys!!!!

I used a plastic fork. Either of the two tongs in the middle is the right size for the headphone port, and I was able to clean out the headphone port. Then my speaker worked normally again.

Dropped my phone in the snow. Got water in the headphone jack. Used a hair dryer on cold mode for about 2 minutes directly into the jack while the phone was off and it worked.

Had my battery replaced by apple store in Atlanta 2 days ago. Now it's stuck in headphone mode. I never use headphones and it has never been wet in its life, also never had a problem with it other than false reporting battery charge status. Wonder what they did back there in the secret room with my phone for 2.5 hours changing the battery??? None of these methods worked and there's nothing in either port so I assume they goofed something up at the store. Too coincidental to be anything else.

Tim Wells try taking the SIM card out for 20 seconds then put It back in, nothing worked for me I tried the q-tip, the cloth, rice, shutting it off, the pen, the ringtone , nothing worked and I myself decided to take out my SIM card suck the whole with my own mouth and while I did that and when my sim fell I put the sim on the disc and put it back in which took me 20 seconds.
