    I'm very impressed by this video actually. Never owned a "button controller" but this one seems to be the exact right balance between the simplicity and functionality. For me Push kind of reminds me the nightmare of hardware synths programming from the old days. And I was extremely sold with velocity sensitive glide control with Launchpad Pro - compared to usually crappy MIDI knobs and sliders - I love the idea to be able to make controllable fast and precise adjustments with the button rows. The only request I have is a 16x16 version :)

    if this is inexpensive like the rest of the launch stuff then this is a masterpiece of user friendly hardware. it's smaller than the apc mk 2 and I think it might even do more. and it's compact! perfect for on the go production. ...but man a step sequencer would seal the deal.

      I wish push had features so easy to use as this.
      Most of the time Push just pisses me off. this is more simple and functional. And you cant freaking imagine how much i wish for a 64 grid drum rack with multiple colour zones.
      Yea, there is PXT-Live Plus, but im not making music while hustling with user manuals and remembering functions or coding. :/

    why is there no step sequencer option for the midi addition? what's the point of playing notes from your launchpad when you can just do it on the normal keyboard which is a part of your synth? are there any launchpad users here who found a way to use it as a step sequencer? i have a korg ms-20 mini and the only thing that holds me off from buying the launchpad now is the step sequencer is the step sequencer that i would like it to be for my synth.

    • @NovationTV
      @NovationTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's great to hear that you're considering a Launchpad Pro. That particular Launchpad is only available in black, we have never actually released a grey version.
      Perhaps the lighting or grading in our earlier videos makes them appear lighter? The only grey coloured Launchpad that we have ever released is the Launchpad Mini Mk1.

    Is it possible to control more than one synth using a midi interface like the iConnectivity mio10? Can we also do program changes? Is it possible to save multiple midi clips like in the ableton session view? ==> That would mean being able to get rid of the laptop for live performance one and for all.. .

      Classic launchpad with launchpad95 script does that

    • @mromegajohn
      @mromegajohn 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @raptorekpl yeah, the code is available in the midi remote scripts of ableton to do this. It's been in launchpad95 for a long time, I don't get why they haven't bothered

    • @fourteenwinters
      @fourteenwinters 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that's more my point. You can use it standalone, but without a sequencer... They're shooting beyond the ableton / m4l market with this one.

    Dear Novation -
    Is it possible PLEASE to have 'Extenders' for the LaunchPad Pro?
    What I mean is, 8x8 RGB grids that could be locked together to make a visualizer or display (all controlled by Max4Live and the original LaunchPad Pro). Just the grid part, without the function buttons, interlocking.
    Imagine the lightshow you could put on with 2x2 or 4x4 of these in a grid, all controlled by Live! Drool!

      Hi John, Thank you very much for that - funny enough Ive just bought the Ned Rush bundle from Isotonik but did not know about their Launchsync device! Thank you!
      The left and bottom of the Launchpad Mini should enable me to use 4 in a grid for visualization/light show (with a bit of fiddling)... hoping the RGB version may come in the future. Thanks again - cant wait to get a Pro!

    • @calbostic6565
      @calbostic6565 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MrBrgGreece There is a Max For Live plugin that includes a step sequencer in User Mode, but you need to buy Ableton Live Suite (which is very expensive) to be able to use Max For Live. The actual hardware does not have a step sequencer by default.

    • @lacrimeee
      @lacrimeee 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if u wanna get a very good controller and u know something about this kind of music , launchpad pro is the best ( i will start with it , i've done some exercise on my ipad with their own app : novation launchpad ) if you are new to this , the best choice is the launchpad , and if you want a smaller edition of the regular launchpad you can always get the launchpad mini
      altrough their very different prices they always come with ableton live lite and u have to buy ableton live intro (63€) / starter (279€) / suite (479€) if u want to ( to start the "lite" version is good )
      :D ee u in the comments of other videos!

    • @NovationTV
      @NovationTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's great to hear that you're interested in Launchpad Pro! Launchpad Pro's pads feature full RGB feedback, velocity sensitivity and polyphonic aftertouch. They're firm but very responsive and allow for expressive, dynamic performances. I'd suggest that you go to your nearest dealer to try them out for yourself. They are different to those used on Ableton Push and all of our other Launchpads. You can find your nearest dealer here: global.novationmusic.com/stores
      Launchpad Pro can be used 'Standalone' - without a computer, to control external hardware and synths. Scale Mode can also be used in Standalone mode, making it a great choice if you're looking for a standalone instrument.

  • @crabreaper3708
    @crabreaper3708 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I mean, this is a pretty cool thing, but I think the only thing Novation needed to do was improve refresh speed, clean up the design of the Launchpad S, and put RGB lights. They could add a metronome and record if they really wanted too. This is doesn't even have a user mode for projects, which was a big reason people even buy launchpads. The buttons are velocity sensitive, so they don't press down.

    *PLEASE TELL MORE ABOUT AFTERTOUCH!!!*

    • @NovationTV
      @NovationTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Essentially, Launchpad Pro's pads will continue to send out data while the pads are held down, which adds an extra dimension of expression to your performances. Common examples include adding vibrato or tremolo, or opening/closing a filter but you can control how plug-ins/hardware respond to the different types of aftertouch data. 'Polyphonic aftertouch' means every pad can have its own aftertouch amount. In other words, different notes will respond individually even when multiple notes are held. 'Channel aftertouch' means that one aftertouch value will apply to all held notes. More specifically, the pad that receives the greatest pressure will dictate the applied aftertouch amount. Please note that while most of Ableton Live’s instruments can respond to 'channel aftertouch', Ableton Live does not currently support 'polyphonic aftertouch'.

    • @CoberlightShow
      @CoberlightShow 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      And why when I choose the "Note" mode, I turn on Polyphonic aftertouch, click on ONE pad and hold, then I click on the internal knob of my DAW "Link to controller", and I automatically tie to CHANNEL aftertouch? that is, when I click on another pad, knob changes its value. I turned on Polyphonic Aftertouch, I checked. Maybe something I'm doing wrong or it not works so?
      Or does Polyphonic Aftertouch only work with plug-ins that support this feature, and to use Polyphonic aftertouch, I just have to set a port in the plug-in and everything will work?

    sooo... except a few obvious things what is the real difference to PUSH? I am wondering why NOVATION is getting into the business of Ableton and nevertheless they are producing a product to be used with ableton. Some coordinated market presence of those two manufactures would be the winning path. I really would like someone to explain the differences and give arguments why to use PUSH or LP.

    But, what about the good old user 1 mode? What will happen to all of these amazing project files? The only reason I would ever upgrade would be for the RGB lights, not for the added features. Essentially, this is an ableton push now...

    • @FocusriteTV
      @FocusriteTV 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there,
      Great question, 'User 1' mode is essentially the same as the new 'User' mode.
      Your older Ableton Live sessions will still be compatible! although the clips & pads may now be a different colour due to the new RGB integration, they can be changed back to the same colour.

    • @victorgabrielpetre
      @victorgabrielpetre 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      FocusriteTV Cool, but will projects like things from SoNevable still work? Like, will there still be epic lightshows and such? That is what I meant.

    • @FocusriteTV
      @FocusriteTV 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, older projects will still work! The new RGB velocity values may produce different coloured clips / pads but this can be quickly changed back to how they were, if you want to, with velocity changes!

      FocusriteTV But, is drum rack still usable for the user mode? The video makes it seem like it's only usable for note mode, and that to map sounds, you have to use midi mapping.

    Anyone know if there is a max step sequencer for this? I have a great step sequencer for my original launchpad. Seems like a head to head comparison/competition with the Push.
    With a step sequencer it seems like the launchpad pro can do everything the push can.

    I just realized that old Launchpad Pro has orange labels on it, but later version has only white. Is there a difference between these two?

    • @NovationTV
      @NovationTV  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's right. The more recent Launchpad Pro [Mk3] has many features not found on any other Launchpad model such as a powerful standalone step sequencer, 8 customisable layouts, a standalone chord mode, fixed length recording, enhanced Ableton Live control and much more. Full details can be found on our website 👍

      @@NovationTV Have you even checked my channel? Lol XD
      I meant Launchpad Pro MK2, I'm using your device since 2016
      My LP Pro MK2 (which I'm using for almost 6 years) has white labels on it, Launchpad Pro from this video has orange ones
      Is there a difference, maybe it was first revision or smth. I'm just curious about this
      Also, open source firmware for LP Pro MK3 will be nice, as it is for LP Pro MK2

    • @NovationTV
      @NovationTV  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah, there may have been very subtle differences in screen printing but functionally these are all exactly the same.
      Have you explored r_cycle? That can be used to create custom tools and functions for Launchpad Pro [Mk3].

    I WANT IT FOR CHRISTMAS

  • @ZER0Music
    @ZER0Music 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    But... this means that (from my understanding) the drum rack is no longer for user mode, but rather for note mode... Therefore, this would render all previous launchpad projects unusable. Yes yes, you can still make projects like this, but you would have to essentially start from scratch... Is what I am saying correct? From my understanding you can only use midi learn mode to assign clips from session view to the launchpad buttons. Is the drum rack also usable for this application? Or is it only for note mode? If it's only for note mode... then this was a bad idea...

      +Z.E.R.0 No, User Mode should work just as it does on older launchpads. Except, due to the new RGB lights, the colors of the light shows won't be the same (If your'e into that BS).

  • @MagDiSante

    I wonder if they (or some other company) will ever build an HW control where You can read the NAMES of live clips and scenes (and not only colors) displayed on the pads (as it happens in apps like "Touchable" on iPad) ... This way, You really have no more need of watching the notebook screen in order to know "where you are and what You're doing" ... Speaking of live performances, in the case of a live a session with many songs to play, each one with its complex set of scenes and clips (intro, verse1, verse2, chorus1, chorus2, etc etc ...), You always need to watch the screen of Your notebook if You want to be sure about "the point You reached" ...
