Nice info for us owner op, Thanks I would like next videos without out background music so as to hear you wel, thanks again keep us informed for our trucks
2019 volvo vnl 760 a little indication of turning either direction you'll hear/feel a small grinding happening. Hub oils full, no sign of spillage and temperature of it also felt properly warm. There is some steering play I must say, but going just beyond that you'll hear the grinding/noise vibration.
Great start to the video, I was sticking around for the common noises, I hear and feel like a clunk when I turn, more so to the left then the right but both (this is following a steer blow out on my right tire a couple of days ago) belt snapped no warning! Can’t find a video on TH-cam actually explaining how the axels, tie rod, steering components, everything needing to steer, trying to have an idea on what could be wrong thank you!
My gear box just went out. The truck is a 2007 century class. The box was smoking hot. I told the mechanic, something is burning! The fluid tank was hot, hoses, you coutouch them. There is only 4 gear boxes in the entire country. $1700.00 Power steering pump is in st Louis around $300. I had no warning of any problem. Just BAM . The mechanic never seen anything like it.
How can you differentiate a bad steering box vs a bad pump ? Can you make a video or provide a link if there's one already posted in your channel. Thanks, good stuff
Where are you located?? I took my truck that I just purchased from pedigree to freightliner and they couldn’t figure out what’s the problem that I’m feeling with the steering wheel … everybody is saying it drives normal because no one is over the road with me driving 10 hours and getting drastically tired of it…. They test drove it and said it’s normal when you hit bumps but trust me I know when something is not right ! All I drove since I started trucking 3 years are cascadias so I’m pretty sure something is off !!! I’d love it if you can check my truck and see what’s wrong 🙏🏼! Would be nice to hear from you
I have a Cascadia Freightliner that I converted to a Dump Truck. I reinforced & lifted the front end suspension. My drag link is bad and I am replacing but my steering wheel is not centered. It now sits @ 10 & 4 oclock when its centered. Will alignment fix the issue? What is the proper fix?
Excellent vid. Whenever I do slow turns, I can hear something in my column, and it feels slightly off. Could that be filter related? Still have power steering
When hand turn stering shaft shoul front wheels be turning over half way these front wheels turning to easy when hand turning stering shaft. What u think wrong
people say i take advantage but i been in a good truck an i know how the steering suppose to be mechanics of other races are very knowledgeable an i notice that they have the ability to turn the steering wheel an also loosing the steering wheel to make it difficult to steer can anyone please tell me how i can fix it on my own because i know it’s not an alignment. example i’ll be driving a truck down a straight road an the steering wheel is turned half way to the right another thing is loose free play when the steering wheel is straight any help i need the key for my self
I have a 1999 fld freightliner I have very much checked and change most of the steering components I did the alignment and so but I still have a bad steering while I'm driving it on the road what do you think or recommend me ?
What you mean bad steering ? I have a 95’ fld 120 Had pop noise when turning or potholes. Changed spring bushings and tie rods and it was fine Whats the problem you having ?
Remove the power steering return line and secure it into a 5 gallon bucket . Start engine and continually add to the reservoir till new fluid is seen pouring into the bucket , shut down . Have a friend start and stop the engine , be in neutral .
have you had an issue when turning left? i have this issue,,, when i make a left turn the check engine blinks and have power loss, if i down shift or up shift goes to normal power and i am able to finish the turn, if i stay in the gear as soon as the steering starts to straightened out i regain power again,,, cant seem to figure out what is wrong with it,,,, any ideas you may have on fixing the issue would be appreciated,,,its a 2012 kenworth t680 model
I got issues months ago with freightliner cascadia 2014 at Laredo truck suddenly stop accelerating I towed truck to dogget freightliner they changed acceleration pedal with sensor nothing changed they changed my CPC- TCM modules nothing and then they changed shift-controller pin bushing still nothing it has been for 40 days truck still doesn’t fixed they can’t figure out how to repair it my bill already went up 20000$ I do not know what’s going on sorry for letter I’m not native. Has anyone have idea what’s with my truck
Need to raise the music volume more.
Needed the camera to follow your explanation throughout the video instead of a fixed position
YES definitely, I say the same to other youtubers. Not everyone is a mechanic and it is better to follow on the explanation.

There is an arrow on the steering shaft yoke . If the steering wheel turns choppy the steering shaft u-joint is seizing . Check for seized king pins .
Thank you this video help me feel more confident while studying for my CDL exam ❤😊

I had an issue when I would turn either way & clunk noise and feel a little pull. My drag link was bad. It had a lot of play.
Rear steering axle spring shackle pin bushings moving back and forth .

Need closeup of some of the parts you’re touching and referring to
Steering turns one full turn more to the left than the right. Any idea?

Just chiming in to say that a filter swap fixed it

What if you steering wheel feel tight when backing in a spot ?

Thanks for all the info👌
Steering only gets hard when backing what could cost this.
Where do you located bro
I would like to take my truck to you
What if you accidentally add gear oil lubricant into the power steering unit, Will it cause it harm and what needs to be done?
We would urge you to flush the system and replace with Dexron 3 or an equivalent power steering fluid as well as replacing the filter.

Where do you drain the steering wheel fluid?

I have a kenworth t680 and when stopped if I turn the steering wheel there is a clicking noise, what could that be?
