Congratulations! This is so encouraging. Makes me want to apply too. Maybe I should go for it. My advice would be to take it easy. Don’t go in with the attitude that you’re going to work yourself into the ground. Set reasonable expectations and be kind to yourself. In my experience, that’s also when one performs the best.
Congratulations 🎉! Has to be a good feeling right now. Sounds like you are going in with a good mindset toward research mathematics. When the stress starts to build in the future, look back on this.
I live south of LAX. (We *visit* snow, instead of the other way around!) Be advised, LA County is a different Planet: it has a population greater than 43 States. Welcome to Southern California ... now, get back to the Library.
In addition to UCLA, there are 4 other UC campuses, a multitude of Cal State Campuses, USC ("FIGHT ON!!") and Cal Tech in Southern California; the academic resources and collaborative opportunities here are unique. The weather is always nice, but the traffic is always bad!
Congrats one thing I was thinking. Bc you took grad real analysis when you go for PhD do you have to take again or if you pass qualifier your good to go.
Don’t stay at U of Utah. You will grow more by leaving. Don’t choose comfort, choose growth. UCLA will carry you further. Advisers popularity/notoriety fades, but a strong school name lasts a lifetime. Please go to UCLA!
@DarthArtoo4 so I am at the University of Utah, Math & Physics major, I had a 4.0 gpa at the time of application (it is now a 3.992), my math subject GRE was 850 (84th percentile). I have some research experience in condensed matter physics and I am working with an advisor doing supervised readings of papers in optimal transportation, but I have no research publications. I have taken some graduate classes, notably Real / Complex Analysis, Manifolds, PDE, General Relativity, Quantum / Quantum Field Theory. I had 4 letters of recommendation from professors that I knew quite well / took grad courses with.
What a pity, that this becomes only study, I have not heard anything about what you are going to work on where you are going to live what kind of life you are going to lead, friend the place where you are, that is not life... you are wrong if everything is work.
UCLA gaining another baddie 🙏🏼
This is awesome. Congratulations Conrad. My family is so happy for you.
Congratulations! Our country needs brilliant mathematicians and scientists. Good luck!

Very true at the end -- it doesn't matter where you go it matters what you can DO. Congrats on admission to UCLA!
congratulations! you deserve it
Yo congrats! Got rejected from Wisconsin as well and holding out hope for OSU!
Congrats! String math PhD here (I am suffering 😂😂)
Had Gangbo for real analysis, he’s chill.
ICONNN👏🏼
Congratulations

Hahah, awesome comment. Thanks for the kind words!
Good work man
You are an inspiration
Thank you for the inspiration
Congrats u deserve it
Good job gang UCLA is crazy. Did you say optimal flow???
@@fergalhennessy775 optimal transport
Congratulations man!!

You would probably take it again in your first or second year
It depends on the school, good question though I will have to look into this. Real Analysis is so important that I will probably retake it regardless.
Many many congratulations!!!!🎉🎉🎉
congratulations! i have applied to a few schools for phd in wireless sensing, tho none of them have returned back lol
Good luck!
Let's fknnn goooooooooooo 💪
Congrats!
Congratulations 🎉
Congratulations!
congrats
Your study habit will not change under PhD acceptance transformation, your study habit is symmetric (beautiful).
Good luck
Congrats!!!
Hell yeah!

Congrats on the acceptance! Would love to know your stats if you’re up for sharing. I’ll be applying to programs this fall. Thanks!
What do you mean by stats?
@ like your academic/application profile. Type of school you’re at now, GPA, research experience/papers, GRE scores, etc.

@ much appreciated. That’s an impressive profile, so it’s no wonder that UCLA accepted your application. Best of luck in the future!
Thanks, you as well!@@DarthArtoo4
