I do believe is unfair to put HD models on source and not in original XD

they both had HD models for basically the same time as each other, but recently original HL had them turned off by default. you can still re-enable them whenever you want in the graphics settings.
in fact, source's "hd models" aren't the same HD models used in original half life. they're actually from a fanmade mod that valve developers mistakenly added to the game and never cared to fix. so source's "hd models" are arguably "worse" because they clash pretty heavily with the original half life graphics, even more so than the official HD models.

I think some of these comparisons are a little unfair. HL:S wasn't built for any form of third-person play or multiplayer, so the third-person animations obviously weren't a concern. Also, the HD model pack is available in both games, but only using it for HL: Source feels a bit disingenuous when comparing things like lighting effects.
