If this did full HD for Netflix / Prime this would certainly be a major contender against the Shield. Good to see Android Boxes moving from the drab old fashioned Interface &I love that IPTV interface. I use Tivimate on my shield 2017 & this interface seems just as good (and just as quick)
And don't get me started on that cool SD / Hard Drive slot underneath, brilliant idea Whilst I'm happy with my box, for someone wanting a box purely for IPTV streaming - this has to be one of the top recommendations. Anyway, another great review, thank you 👍

in your listing can you also please put a column for what kind of audio formats does the android TV box support? like 5.1 7.1 DTS HD MA, DTSX, Dolby Atoms etc or simply 5.1 or 7.1 and lossless Audio this will really help. TIA!
A lot of the higher end tv boxes will not exactly support DTS-X and Dolby Atmos but they will pass through the audio and therefore if you have a receiver that can decode those audio codecs it will be decoded.
I have been having an Android TV box for 4 years, TaNix TX3 MAX, it works well and I love it.
Would love to see some retro games testing as well
It will play all the old stuff maybe up to a bit of old dreamcast via redream. Still a older cpu been around since 2019
Yeah it has the same processing power as a gt king. This may underperform due to the bulkier firmware it uses. Honestly if you're up to this price range you might as well just get a shield pro and a powered usb hub. Nothing comes close to the tegra chips those have

You can add Netflix addon in HD if you install kodi ;)
use cinema HD or or many others for 4k and they are free

It took me a good bit of fiddling to get 5.1 surround out of this box. My TV is older and I didnt get the full passthrough menu until I tried the supplied HDMI (2.1 I presume) cable. I was finally able to select a magic combination of settings to get 5.1 sent via SPDIF to my HT receiver (also older).
You can export this setting (spdif) for 5.1 channel ? I need it too
@@Francesco-gf9yc My TV and receiver are both over 10 yrs old. Depending on your software and hardware you will have to find the setting that get your receiver to see the 5.1 signal. I did it purely by trial and error.

That's a glorious box - truly. The caddy idea is great, as it's so much better than having to lug around an external hard drive. I saw 'server'. I'd like to see what that feature is like. Anyway, as always, great review, brother.

Hello, I have some questions about this device buzztv XRS4900, first how can change the screen mode from one to another, there is any way to control everything with I mean the TV set and the Soundbar? Thought I'd found a real contender to replace my aging firecube, but no 4k Netflix or Prime is a deal breaker for me. I'd probably settle for 1080p, but it doesn't even do that
It does not contain Android TV and does not support the UHD Netflix app It is not worth buying, whatever its specifications
If this was an Android TV then you would loose majority of customisation on home screen, application features, android custom settings. Therefore it wouldn’t be classed as an iptv box then. Also that means if it keeps it’s customisation then No cert and no licence for Netflix.

I don't use Netflix or Amazon so this does not matter to me or anyone else who do not use those services either.
It's time for a premium streaming box. It should look like a preamp or disc player or a standard piece of HT equipment. It should have a 2.5gbit ethernet, BT 5.1, wifi 6e, the latest android, true power on and off on the remote and programmable buttons on the remote so you can add functions with plex or kodi onto the remote e.g. close caption, skip ahead a chapter etc.

Can you make you're external Drive has the default instead of the internal drive ? reason why I ask is because I'd like to install Tivimate to record and the program won't let you change the record default to external for some odd reason

No it doesn't. The Shield has 3 +16gb. The Buzz has 4 + 128gb. Buzz TV is IPTV integrated and external hard drive ready. Almost plug and play

@@timothywilliams2601 The Shield's Tegra X1+ processor is way more powerful than the S922x chip in this box, as is demonstrated by the Antutu results. Plus, the Shield can play Netflix and Prime Video in 4k whilst on this box you're limited to SD.

Why do these TV boxes come with a bare minimum of RAM? this device should have at least 8 gigs of RAM for much better performance

This is more than enough for what it can do. I have a 4gb Android box and I max out at 3gb usage.

Good review as always. I like this box and haven't even touched it yet. That 6T storage is the gamechanger for me. But to tell you the truth I 'm going to wait til later this year to see if they bring out another upgraded one. Like last year, I jumped on the xrs4500 and the Vid stick as soon as they came out, and by xmas they were both outdone by the newer Buzz devices. So no race this time :)
All Buzztv android 9 models get the new buzztv5 in a few months so you still benefit from your box

Buzztv 5 will have new VOD and TV Series TMBD actors cast for movies and matching meta description and wallpaper matching movies. TV Series description for seasons and each episode. Timeshift live tv, wake up the box and record timer, series record live tv scheduling mon to Sunday, background recording so you can exit the buzztv5 and say watch TH-cam and buzztv5 will still record

problem is... if you have to spend this sort of money then the shield tv is just there.
I have tried a magic eye with this product as I have an RF TV distribution system through out the house but unfortunately it is not working :( . I have tried switching the bluetooth remote function "off" in the remote controls menu for this to work hoping that the infra-red side of the remote works, and it is still not working. At the local tv where the Buzztv box is connected the infra-red function works fine even with the bluetooth function "off". Any suggestions?

Exactly is the "Home Screen" section when I selected the "BuzzTV Media Player" and now I can not move or exit from here to change it to another home screen, and because of that I don't have access to settings and more of the Buzztv XRS4900, please advise me. Thanks

When a box is rooted it means you have access to the higher level file system, giving you ability to install apps that can take advantage of it. For the average user like me or you, its not going to mean anything.

How do you run AnTuTu on Shield with its latest firmware? It always crashes on me no matter what version I sideloaded.

I don't get your spreadsheet. You have one column called "Rank", and another called "Rating 5/5". What is the difference, and why does your highest ranked device only have a rating of 3.9?
Chart is ranked by benchmark scores. As many people like to know which box has the fastest performance. But the fastest box does not mean it’s the best box So I added another column that gives a rating out of 5. This way you can see the fastest box but also see how I rated each box out of 5.

Depends on service provider if they offer catch up but buzztv 5 will allow you to save, record and playback
