They needed Spencer in the dual meet. Without him, I don't think they would've won before going out you can tell in his eyes he just got done dropping weight fast. He came out because his team needed him.

He’s been an explosive wrestler who can beat anyone on any given day. But I think he answered a lot of questions in this match. His gas tank and conditioning being the main question. A grueling match obviously they game planned for him. Didn’t let him wrestle from space, heavy tie ups the whole match. And gets it done in overtime. Super impressive.
So great to see Spencer Lee without those big ole knee braces. He deserves to have a year without injuries! Can't wait to see him transition to freestyle and international competition.
I was so happy to finally see Spencer wrestle in person. Lived in Canada until Feb 26, 2021when I moved back and of course he didn't wrestle last year so it was a huge treat for me and a great meet. Stuff for all the Hawkeyes to work on!

Lee definitely hasn’t been wrestling full practices, and his wrestling conditioning isn’t there yet ,never seen Lee get up so slow at the end of that 2nd period, unless he has the flu rn

The man is back. I hope this kid can stay healthy for this year and one Olympic year and still be the dame guy athletically. He had no explosion yet. In four months he’ll look like a totally different guy. First time we’re I’ve actually seen him looking s but sucked in. Looks like he had a tough cut. Especially with how gases he was after the first. One place where the knees won’t hinder him much. He bearded on top as usual.

However I think Spencer Lee just needs to warm up and wrestle a couple matches to get back into his groove. After a few matches, he’ll get his conditioning back, he’ll sharpen up, and he’ll look just as unstoppable as before

I dont see why Woods was celebrating so hard. He barely won against a freshman (that is not to say Swiderski is your average freshman), and the reason he won was due to running away last period and stalling/hanging on in the previous periods.
I had the same thoughts a number two guy sqeeking by a true freshman but it was his first time in Carver as a Hawkeye. They dont get crowds like that in Stanford.
Swiderski is a beast he just need to keep his head or opponents are gonna play into his anger and take advantage of any emotional decisions he makes in the match

He was noticed 2 days before the match he was wrestling and had to cut all that weight in that shirt of a time all after 11 months removed from 2 acl surgeries. He’ll be fine but nothing is every guaranteed obviously

I think cabanban can actually hang with lee when he’s not nervous. You could see he was nervous at the beginning and lost a lot of points because of it. When he realized he had nothing to lose, he started wrestling much better
Woods did absolutely nothing in the 2nd period to turn Casey when he was on top. He also did nothing but stall in the 3rd period, ran away twice and the ref was too afraid of the crowd to actually do his job to call stalling. Typical Hawkeye BS. Lee is the only one who shows up to wrestle instead of worrying more about trying to get stall calls.

Staling call wasn't right in the first period. Keeping back to avoid double unders isn't any more staling than Real Woods jumping away from the shot in the third. Almost fleeing the mat at that point. Either way, it should have went to over time. Would rather see this match not decided by staling.

Murin DESERVED that loss... for years now he has wrestled the same style with little offense and a more athletic wrestler caught him and guess what..... this has happening to him since his redshirt freshman year and no change from him. This falls on the coaching staff and him as an athlete for not being coachable.
