  • ABOUT THE LESSON 📚
    I get questions all the time about changing sentences from active to passive. So in this lesson, we'll explore the differences between active and passive voice, as well as talk about how and when to use these sentences. And of course, no lesson is complete without practicing what we've learned, and you'll get to change some sentences from active to passive.

    Thank you so much. 'shut the door' active voice.
    We have exam in a month perhaps on 11, the paper is going to be easy as they said and as i know. The reason why I learn grammar in depth is because I love it, to learn something informative. And it would be great to have a proper hold on a language.
    I admire the way you teach. Its easier to understand. Your channel has been so much helpful for learning english grammar and vocabulary too.
    Thank you and may you achieve milestones. ♥️♥️♥️

    Dear wes ,
    The concept of the transforming active voice into passive voice is crytal clear now .I think passive form is preferred to sound polite , to emphacise action & when it is understood .
    I think for business purpose , we use active voice to give offers . e.g. we offer 5 % discount . But we want to remain polite & neutral we prefer passive form .e.g. The delayed action is immensely regretted . Thank you for this enlightening lesson .

    From Vicki: RIGHT! That's why the gov't always USES the passive voice whenever they write most of their public notices, and demand that their writers use the passive voice. And just by coincidence,. you never ever use any pronoun other than a nonspecific one. E.g., That email was written by someone. The government has brought passing the buck to an art form.
    I do the work, although not for the CURRENT Administration - and never will. I did in the 90's and early 2000's.
    I'm doing it for private businesses now.

    • @InteractiveEng
      @InteractiveEng  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. I think you find the passive voice used often in government.

    how about "everyone laughed at me" --> "I was laughed at by everyone"

    • @NatWolf77

      Yes, this sentence is perfectly correct. Verbs which take a prepositional object can be used in passive. The example with "laugh at" in the video was not on point.
