    Hi mate, I love your videos, especially the maintenance videos, please keep them coming.I would just like to know, how is the transmission going now since you had it replaced?Was the problem from the sprocket output shaft bearing failing, could it be that the dealer had the belt adjusted too tight causing the bearing to fail?I read one of the BRP bulletins saying the front sprocket bolt needs to be retensioned after 10,000km so it doesn't work loose and damage the splines but I see your problem was more from the output shaft going inside the transmission.I'm very interested to find out, please let me know when you have the time.Fellow 2015 F3 Spyder Ryder from down under :)

      Yes the output shaft pulley spun on the output shaft. The shop said when it spun it damged the output shaft! I never saw the shaft so I could not tell you how bad it was or even if it was damaged.
      When I bought the spyder new in July of 2016 the trany made a noise until around 12000 miles. The shop told me nothing was wrong with it. Now this is where it gets good. Every oil change I did I found large amounts of metal on the drain plug magnet. So I feel the issue was from new not from a belt issue. The shop tried to rebuild the trany and was not successful!! Not only was the support bearing damaged but the case was also damged from them heating it to remove components ... So the shop told me! I now have 50,000 miles on it with no trany issues! Thank you for watching be safe!!

    Where do you buy your oil filter kit with the o rings and washers? Thanks

      You can get them from Baja Ron on spider lovers or Lamonster Garage.

    I know you have owned an ST before the F3.... What is the difference (if any) with the difficulty of doing maintenance on the F3 as opposed to the ST? Also where do you get that oil change kit? Taking my time and looking hard at the F3 after losing my ST-Ltd.

    • @spyderryder
      @spyderryder  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the st wanted oil changes around 4500 miles the F3 is 9300 miles. I would not go that long but BRP says you can. If you get the se6 the Tracy filter change is at 29000 miles I do believe not every time you change the oil. Now the big thing is no valve adjustments on the 1330 engine which says you tons of money and time. Spark plugs are easier to change on the old V-twin but the power from the 1330 is amazing! I get the oil change kit from Baja Ron you can find him on spyderlovers. Good luck on the new spyder hunt!

    Nice ride and I know what you mean about the heat. Whew! Even a mesh jacket is too much when the temps get to high 80's and above. Ride safe!

    Hi I have found a Spyder with a pushed back lower control arm damage would that be expensive and difficult to repair?

    • @spyderryder
      @spyderryder  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If they are set back because of frame damage then yes. I would say the mounting pionts on the frame that hold the control arms will be damaged.

    • @SilverBack.
      @SilverBack. 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      What if the frame is good and the a-arm is pushed back, what else could be damaged ??

    • @spyderryder
      @spyderryder  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SilverBack. it depends on what took the hit. If the wheel was hit you will need a new wheel bearing and possibly a new wheel and knuckle. If the hit was just the lower control arm then a control arm and sway bar link.

      The other thing is that I can not find any video's on the removal and replacement of the a-arm on TH-cam

    Did you check your front pulley? That could cause belt issues. Look for red dust.

    • @spyderryder
      @spyderryder  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was think the same thing and I have 25000 on the new pulley and the first one failed around 2200 miles!

    Hi again mate, that really sucks!! We pay big money for a big ticket item and you shouldn't have these problems!!I have the exact same model as yours, only difference is I have the Gauge Bikini instead of the Windshield, mines Steel Black Metallic also!Can you roughly describe the sound the Transmission was making before it eventually failed?Also, are you still getting Metal Filings on the Sump Plug since you've had the Transmission replaced?If you are, have you found out what the cause is yet?Could it be Gear Mesh Wear?I am very keen to find out!!Cheers mate! :)

      It was a very high pitch whine I could hear over the music in my helmet! I just changes the oil 3 weeks ago and yes still getting metal but its not in the filter anymore!! It goes back to a different shop next month for a sticking throttle so I will show them the pictures and see what they have to say about the metal shavings!

    does the can am spyder have low maintenance

    • @spyderryder
      @spyderryder  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would not say it has low maintenance at all. The 2014 and newer spyders have less maintenance the the older V-twins. You still have filters spark plugs oil you don't have value adjustments or clutch adjustments.

    • @raymondali3688
      @raymondali3688 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      so your saying that the newer models have low maintenance

    • @spyderryder
      @spyderryder  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Less maintenance then the older ones. They have extended the oil change intervals. No valve check and if you have an se6 the filter change is at 29000 miles. I would not call it low just less.
