This was one of my regular stopping points when I would drive from Queens to Rochester. Always loved this mall's layout- how it went from "huh, this is a little bleak" to "OMG IT OPENS UP MORE?" That game store was also a major distributor for the board game "Gloomhaven" when it first entered wide release- I ordered it off their ebay shop and they let me pick it up on my drive a month later. Last time I was there (around 2019 I wanna say), I saw plans to make a promenade on the entry wall, but that was in the Before Times.
Good to see its still there as of 2023.

My stomping grounds during college from 92-96. Saw a lot of good movies in that mall theater.

It was a part of my life growing up and also worked at burger king for a short period of time in like 2005. As a teenager and early 20's i used to hop on the bus "mall express" and go get my favorite chinese at the mall and maybe buy a tape or cd and just window shop.

also now it seems to be attracting sport and entertainment like axe throwing, a smash room, i think pickle ball and a gym.

This is like stepping back into the malls I remember as a teen in the 80s. Colors are slightly different our mall was mostly red brick, with a floor that mixed terracota and shiny black tiles.

The Sears courtyard is pretty awesome, but also overwhelming. It needed something hanging from the ceiling to tone down all the blinding white walls.

Agreed, all of the white walls in that area do kind of bleach that area

This one hits kinda hard for some reason. I watch a ton of these videos and a lot of them don't really bother me. I don't live anywhere near this mall and certainly have never set foot in it. But the way you've told the story and also just the look and feel of in the video makes it feel like I don't want it to be lost. Those diagonal skylight features are a sight to behold, even on a TV. I hope people get to see this in person for decades to come.

I know that feeling, which is why I started this channel 2 years ago. These malls really are something else.

Eeey my home turf. Since you recorded, Sondra's City Zoo has closed. It is now a boxing gym or something to that effect.
While I also have fond memories of the former Pyramid mall in Lansing, I spent most of my childhood in the Schuyler/Chemung area. Arnot was THE mall of my time growing up. Including its surrounding businesses, such as the old Toys R Us. Which is now a car wash. We had a Sam Goody's long ago, which was one of my favorite spots in that mall. Bought most of my CD collection from the time at that location.

Love this mall, grew up in the area lots of movies and time spent at EB games. It looks really well maintained but like all malls is being hit hard with the change of how people shop nowadays. Good memories, great video!

My old, teenage stomping grounds. I worked at Bradley's and a small, independent store on one of the no man's land part of Arnot Mall called Santa Fe in the Eighties. Not very fond of Malls, and Arnot Mall did a good job at ruining businesses in Elmira. My grandmother and I use to eat at Iszard's in downtown Elmira for lunch.
