Loved the video. And thank you for all the recommendations. Something occurred to me while looking at your room. Have you ever tried positioning your speakers along the long length of your room? Try it…the soundstage is far wider. There is a few TH-cam videos of a guy who is an expert at speaker placement and he swears by that idea. It does work! And once you finish your acoustic treatments, it will sound like personal live concerts just for you, every night. 🙏🏼
Thank you! I have never thought of that. I do have dealer that I purchased the speakers from coming down in the next few days to look at the room to give suggestions on room treatment, I will ask his opinion as well. In configuring the room that way it would be better for vinyl and CD storage on the short ends. Thank you for this suggestion!
Congratulations Mike! That's one hell of a loudspeaker system! Can't wait to see where you go with the rest of your system building! P.S. You know that Strauss Telarc album was available on Telarc vinyl, right? If not, get it. It blows the CD out of the water (and as you know the CD does not suck) Cheers! Oz LTBS
Thanks for taking us on this journey. Enjoyed understanding your process, which you've discuss over the past few videos. Also nice that you provided us with the music you used for your auditions. I've always thought that Wilson made great speakers. Never owned them myself as I've gone the route of SET tube amps and higher efficiency speakers, but there is no deneying I've always enjoyed it when listening to a pair of Wilson speakers- several different models. I think you made a great choice! Looking forward to hearing more of your journey when the speakers arrive.
Thank you, and that is exactly what makes this hobby so very fun! There are so many different options for us to go with highend audio! I have never heard a SET setup that didn't sound anything less than amazing! While not SET my Sonic Fronties Pre amp and Counterpoint SA 220 power amp was one of the most enjoyable set ups I have ever had in my home. Thank you so much!!
Really nothing lacking, The B&W's were actually very engaging. For me the Wilson's Midrange on up felt to me to be more accurate and appealed more to my tast in sound. On the Watt Puppies the entire spectrum from top to bottom just blew me away, Imaging and depth of the soundstage was crazy with them at least to me. The Watt Puppies also have an unbelievable bottem end that is deep and very quick. Wilson's midrange area on up was really pulled me towards them. Thank you Chris.
Chris, I have the concord jazz cd of the Ray Brown Trio and it sound fantastic! I know there is a AP SACD out there but I think it is pretty expensive two. If you do CD it might be an option. Thank you so much!
That cover of Yellow Brick Road was staggering! Thank you so much for that recommendation. Going to seek out more of her stuff.
She's really good and I like her voice. Thanks Chris!
Many thanks Mike, lots of fun✌️🖖🤘
Thank you.

What was it about the B&W’s that you found lacking?

I wanted to get that "Ray Brown Trio" release but darn it it's 45rpm and I'm just not going to do it. I'll just listen to it on Apple Music instead.

Yes I have an SACD player and over a thousand CDs, but I normally prefer jazz on vinyl. But I will check it out, thank you.
