Im sorry for your loss. I lost my 29 year old brother this past march. He was a veteran and my only sibling. It makes it so hard to live normally when you are grieving! Homeschooling my 6 kids has been a saving grace because it keeps my focus on the positive. I hope God is giving you strength 😇
I follow the school year here ( NZ) which starts in February through to December with term breaks in between ( it's the end of September and first day of term 3 break) - so my start date is usually the second week of February 🙂
I'm so excited to hear this I've been thinking about schooling year round for the first time in 3years. So thinking about 8 weeks on 1 week off. We did Abeka last year changed it this year and definitely Abeka is ahead.
So grateful for this! It's been tough to find veteran homeschool moms with older kids! So this was perfect! Our first year homeschooling with my 7th&3rd graders and a 1 year old and babe due in Oct!
We are starting August 4th. We will be doing 4 days one week, 5 days the next every other rotation. We're doing math, la, and history only for the first 2-3 weeks and then doing Bible and science a couple days each week.
So sorry for your loss. Will pray for you and your fam. May the Lord give you peace at this time. We will be starting 3 August for our very first year of homeschool. We will be using My Father’s World curriculum for both pre-k and fourth grade. Your videos are most encouraging and helpful. Here’s to a great school year!
Augest 3ed, to June 3 is this yrs goal with 6weeks on 1 week off 4x a week. This is our first year trying this but sou ds like it will be the less stress inducing.
Sorry for your loss. I was wondering for Abeka language arts what all do I need to purchase. Language Arts 5 is what I am looking for. Thanks in advance ☺
We officially started our new curriculum on the 19th. Last year was a huge struggle for us, so this year I’m hoping a new curriculum (Blossom & Root) and a better plan - currently our plan is 4 weeks of actual curriculum (or one of the unit studies I have planned) and then a 1 week break. But I have some field trips and things planned for some of our break weeks so I know we will get our 180 days. Once the weather gets colder though we will probably go to 6 weeks on and 1 week break.
I'm so sorry for your loss! Thank you for all the wonderful videos. I'm going to be homeschooling my two kids for the first time this fall. I have learned so much from you!
Does Abeka not have it similarly broken down for parents? I’m wanting to homeschool our soon to be first grader but just finally convinced my husband. Our school starts back August 10th here, is it too late in the game to start now? I’m considering MFW & Abeka but through a TN umbrella school. Just not sure which.
T. Thompson Abeka has it broken down as well, it’s so easy you can’t mess it up. It even tells you exactly what to say. That’s what I do, MFW plus Abeka for language arts and we use Aaron Academy as our umbrella school 😊
I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my grandpa, who was like my dad, in 2018. So I know how that feels. Keeping busy helps some. But allow yourself some grace and time to grieve as well. Praying for you.
We're starting September 1st. We will school 5 weeks on 1 week off with 3 weeks off for Christmas and all of August off. That gives up a several week buffer for inevitable sickness/lazy-mom days.
I am so so sorry for your loss and your health issues. I will be praying for you and your family. Our 20-21 school year will start September 21st. We will also be doing a 5-7 week on and then one week off.
I had planned on starting August 3rd but my son fractured his writing hand, so I’m moving it back to August 17th. I’m so sorry for your loss, my grandmother died at the beginning of our 2014 school year and it was definitely a rough year. Be sure to extend yourself some grace and flexibility. ❤️
I can understand that. It's not easy getting used to her being gone. I still feel like I can pick up the phone and call her. I have to remind myself still that I can't, when I think of random things throughout the day to tell her. Grief is a fickle thing, like that.
We're starting Monday, but I don't plan in "off" weeks except for when my stepdaughter is at her mom's for extended visitation, and two weeks in the summer for our family vacation. I do it that way because, like you said, we all do better with a very consistent routine, and because sometimes things get crazy - this year, for example, I got pregnant right at the start of the shutdown, and I get Hyperemesis, so we did nothing for nearly 3 months! Thanks to our limited time "off," we still had more days under our belt than the required 180.
I’m so sorry for your loss!! I lost my grandma at 13 it was the worst day of my life, I miss her DAILY!! Our start date is August 5th and I’m a new school mom!! I have a kindergartener!! I don’t know where or how to start, but we will be fine lol I hope 🤞
We started July 6th! But my son had strep 3 days in. So we hit a snag in our first week but overall was happy with it! We lost my mother in law in November and keeping busy was helpful. But I am so sorry for your loss. It’s so hard. Praying peace and comfort over your family.
I’m so sorry! Praying for your family! We plan to start August 17th but might start sooner. I’m really ready to get back to it. I have to do a little supply shopping still though.
So sorry for your loss! 😞 I’m starting my first year of homeschool tomorrow! My daughter starts kinder in the morning and we both couldn’t be more excited!
I am so sorry about the loss of your grandmother. I am glad you gave yourself some time. We started school today too. We are doing MFW ECC, First, and Animal Train. It will be a full year. I look forward to combining some of my kids next year when my oldest two are in 4th and 2nd. Is there a particular reason you didn't combine?
My condolences to your family. It can be very difficult when a loved one dies. This year I lost my dad it is still very hard for me as I miss him so much. I truly believe God can give you the comfort and peace to get through your grieving. I have been leaning of Him through all our trials since this year has been a season of trials for me and my family. I can't wait to see a review of your My Father's World Curriculum as I have been wanting to try it, but because of the cost I had to go with another curriculum.
Hi Mandy. I'm so sorry for your loss. Glad to hear your feeling better. Our start date was this past Monday and we're doing 4 weeks on 1 week off + a few extra weeks sprinkled in throughout the year
Love your new Intro ❤ Please thank your husband for his service. I am sorry for your loss and nothing about this year has been normal. I can't wait to see your homeschool room tour. We start school August 17th.
You school year schudel does make a lot of sense. I'm a new homeschool mom due to the pendimic and public school is out of the question. I'm confused o. The schedule and how to organize his curriculum. You channel has been helpful. Thank you
We started July 20th, so 3 days ago. :) I'm sorry for your loss. We also switched from Abeka to TGTB and now I think I want to switch back. :/ It takes SO long to do but it is so thorough and she learned a lot with it.
Hi! We started the first week of July. Just fyi, HSLDA does not have accurate information for every state. My state, Alabama, changed the law a few years ago and they never updated the website
We were supposed to start July 6th, but my mama got very sick to the point of septic shock and nearly dying, and had to have emergency bowel resection surgery. She just got home from 35 days in the hospital. Not sure how long her recovery will be, so I pushed it back to September 14th, since I babysit for my sister right now. We will also be doing a 6-7week on 1 week off schedule as well. Year round works better for us too! I'm sorry about your family's loss, y'all will be in my prayers ❤️
Hello! So sorry to hear about your grandmother 🙏 Praying for your family. I am considering homeschooling my kindergarten child in the MFW curriculum. I have no idea how to even begin.
We started July 6th. It was a rough first week. But we plan to school four weeks on one week off (for the most part) with a two week break at the end of December. We’ll be moving to another state this year so that will likely throw off the schedule at some point. :)
So sorry to hear about your loss! Praying your school year goes well! We are starting August 24th and looking to do 4-5 day school week with field trips(depending on how the virus situation goes) included to allow my daughter to see in real life some of the things she is learning in the classroom
Hello !! Just watched one of your videos for the first time . Thank you for sharing your experience with homeschooling and your channel.. I am curious .. how difficult is it to teach children at different grade level ?
Stephanie Tavarez I’ve never had an issue before :) Some curriculum allows you to teach different ages and grades together, and some you would want to teach separate (reading, language, math). I have a video debuting soon that will cover this for you ❤️
The Handmade Homeschooler - Mandy Maltz good to know .. I don’t have any children , in fact I am still single lol but soaking it all in , and am so grateful to realize what a blessing it is to homeschool , and why ...also ..y condolences to you and you’re family . I will keep your family in my prayers , as well as your health
First, I am sorry for the loss of your grandmother. I will keep you and your loved ones in prayer. And I pray you are healing well from your sickness and procedures. I’ve had 4, yuk. They stink. I live in Illinois. I just unenrolled my children from their public schools. I am going to be homeschooling them. The schools are getting ridiculous and so are the children in them. My family are Bible believers, and we do not want to expose our children to all the madness. I am a bit nervous. I am very blessed to know that Illinois is very lenient on homeschooling. Thank you for this video. It’s making me less nervous. Your voice sounds similar to Amy Adams 😂 😉 🙏🤍
Sending prayers for you and your family during this difficult time. We started our year last week on the 7th and are beginning to get our groove. The first few days were a little crazy with a K and pre-K kiddos!
We start Monday..July 20. Its been a rough few weeks here. Hubby started a new Job, father in law had surgery (having to help in their garden all the time!), Husbands grandmother passed away July 5th, traveled to VA for her funeral this past weekend! I haven't had a chance to get all their school curriculum!! 😳😶🤦
So sorry for your loss. We started Monday and I am thinking about doing year round homeschooling as well. I’m seeing the lack of having two months off 😢
Thank you. That long 3 month break is just too long sometimes. I know that I would forget too, so I can't hold it against my kids for not remembering math formulas. It's just frustrating. Year round has definitely worked out better for us.
Me too in nc. Very new to this and overwhelmed. Grade 2 and 4. 4th grade is on backorder so stressing me out as Abeka isn't providing a date of delivery. Planning on starting my 2nd grader on Monday
Really sorry about your grandmother!! We are planning on “starting” in early September. We have actually done the first 60 lessons in each of their levels (abeka k5 and k4) but it was review for them. I will do a quick review for a few days when we start up again and then get into the new stuff. I would start right now but we live by my husbands family and my kids want to swim with cousins and friends who are not currently in school. So it’s too hard to be consistent until September when everyone else will be in school or remote learning.
So glad I found your page. I’m not sure when I’m starting. Sometime in August. We are in the middle of a huge move. And I just had our third child two weeks early on July 1st. And I haven’t ordered my curriculum yet. Lol

Our start date is next Monday. My middle has been asking and asking, so here we go. Thank you for your very honest and helpful vlogs.
1st time homeschooling mama in Canada & we’re starting Sept 8th. Enjoy learning from you!

I’m new to Homeschool in NC. Can you do a video on the state test that they require and if you prepare or not and which one do you take
My mom and I chose acellus!
We are starting August 31st which is in two days. Yikes!
We are starting August 4th. We will be doing 4 days one week, 5 days the next every other rotation. We're doing math, la, and history only for the first 2-3 weeks and then doing Bible and science a couple days each week.
Hi! I’m new to your channel and am wondering..Did you do My Father’s World in Kindergarten? Did you supplement the phonics for Abeka?
So sorry for your loss. Will pray for you and your fam. May the Lord give you peace at this time.
We will be starting 3 August for our very first year of homeschool. We will be using My Father’s World curriculum for both pre-k and fourth grade. Your videos are most encouraging and helpful. Here’s to a great school year!

So sorry for your loss.
September 1st is our start date in NV. Im a single working mom. Home schooling ALL OF A SUDDEN. And... IDK... What im doing. TFS
My grandmother raised me...I can totally relate. I lost her in 2006, which feels like a lifetime ago. Praying for peace for you.
Thank you, sweet friend. It definitely feels like a part of me is missing now. It's not easy getting used to her being gone.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I pray for you and your family. 🙏💛
Hello from Florida! Sorry to hear for your loss!! Thank you for the tips even through everything you've gone through. I enjoy the videos.
Thank you, friend!
August 30th.
Im so sorry about your loss.
I am so sorry about your grandmother. I lost mine years ago and it never gets any easier.
I can understand that. It's not easy getting used to her being gone. I still feel like I can pick up the phone and call her. I have to remind myself still that I can't, when I think of random things throughout the day to tell her. Grief is a fickle thing, like that.

You're welcome. It can be overwhelming at first. Just find your state guidelines and you'll be fine :) Remember, you're in control of school

We recently moved to AL and I couldn’t find any clear info on their homeschool laws. What do you guys do?

I am so sorry for your loss. We went through this last November, and it was a difficult time as well. ❤
I love your content!
Prayers!
For the Kindergarten level would you say my fathers world would be enough in terms of language and math?
We liked it for Kinder! There’s a review of it on my channel, it was my first video.
Thank you I will check it out
We are planning on starting Sept 1

I'm so sorry for your loss! We actually started this week, but we are taking it slow and easing in, so we didn't start with everything.
I’m confused why you would choose MFW if you were planning on using the family cycle?
My grandma passed two weeks ago. I understand a tough summer. We were gonna start earlier but I'm gonna do August 11th.
Did I understand you right, that you’re in NC?
Do you mind to tell me the area? I’m also in NC and new to this.
And I’m sorry for your loss! I know it’s not easy. I lost my dad 2 years ago and it’s still so difficult.
I'm also in NC... researching homeschool curriculums and trying not to get too overwhelmed 😬
Me too in nc. Very new to this and overwhelmed. Grade 2 and 4. 4th grade is on backorder so stressing me out as Abeka isn't providing a date of delivery. Planning on starting my 2nd grader on Monday
I am confused. I thought you made a video about going back to Abeka. Are you only using the language arts? Why did you change? TIA
We’re using Abeka for language arts 😊
@@mandy-maltz Are you using the DVD for language arts too or just Abekas books and teaching yourself ?
I’m so sorry for your loss 😭 We plan to start Aug 10th.
Thank you, friend.
We are starting July 27
Really sorry about your grandmother!! We are planning on “starting” in early September. I just live you and your videos. You’re so thorough with your information, and you seem so sweet! Thank for sharing your life with us!
So glad I found your page. I’m not sure when I’m starting. Sometime in August. We are in the middle of a huge move. And I just had our third child two weeks early on July 1st. And I haven’t ordered my curriculum yet. Lol
Shantia Fearington congrats on your new baby! Don’t stress, I like being an early bird 😂 Take it easy and enjoy every second ❤️
We start August 25
We are doing homeschool for kindergarten for my youngest and at home school for the kids with their public school until life is back to normal
