This in turn is probably going to affect the multiverse itself, as I assume that typically such powers are relegated to wishmasters like prismo who are actually allowed to dream of new worlds (farmworld for example).
It didn't really debunk much. Multiverse is a manifestation of the greater consciousness. Fionna and Cake's universe is maintained by Simon's mind, ie his mental scape. The argument wasn't if he made their universe, only if he housed and influenced it. Which we know for a fact he did. And we know things he perceives and thinks define it (hence betty statue, and all the parallels between the first two episodes). We know that manifestations of his mentalscape, Fionna and Cake, are in some way influencing reality. One example is when we saw Cake accidently turning a hotdog person into a normal hotdog. Granted it's more allegorical than the way I phrased it originally, since it's not like he can start manifesting stuff into thin air like prismo (as far as we know).
How to explain this? I think it makes sense, you just have to accept that most of it is in the realm of metaphysics and philosophy and consequentially, will be "weird." For example, gravity sometimes bugged physicists back in the day because it's "spooky action at a distance." Thing gets pulled to other thing invisibly. This is only really spooky if you try to understand gravity by human intuition with daily objects you can see being physically tethered to each other. It's a kind of paradox. How can thing be linked to thing if I can't see it? Yet somehow, it is. Quantum mechanics is sort of our era's version of that for lay people and scientists -- with a lot of speculation and misinformation surrounding it. Light is both a wave and a particle. This is only confusing if you take the description as a literal comparison to waves and particles that you know about in human terms. Your everyday intuition is not supposed to suffice. These words are approximations of the truth. There's a point at which you just have to stop considering any of this "weird" because weirdness really is just you passing moral and emotional judgments on facts about reality. Hence, why really mature scientists don't speculate, they just "shut up and calculate" and accept that, by definition, they are exploring the unknown. Even mathematicians, once you delve far enough into theory, have to accept that math is an arbitrary linguistic construct that is flawed and incomplete. Because you cannot confuse the map for the territory. Language isn't divine Naming magic. Never will be. We understand intellectually and from personal experience that we aren't omniscient and can't possibly know everything. We make mistakes all the time. But people have a harder time accepting that on an _emotional_ level, which is why conspiracy theories and mystical woo is so popular. Because people like being in control and having explanations for everything. Because a bad explanation and the lie that you're in control is more appealing than _fully accepting the opposite._ You'll never have a full explanation for most things and that control is an illusion. What I'm saying is that projecting expectations of normalcy onto reality is a sort of close-minded bigotry. But if you accept that physical laws are truly local in Adventure Time, then things get easier. The same applies to social customs and mores. There's parts of China that includes earthworms in cuisine. And if you think about it: There's no logical reason that shouldn't be the case somewhere. It's a renewable and low-cost source of protein. It is only your engrained biases that find this disgusting. I was sort of like PB, in that I sort of believed that magic in Adventure Time was just "unexplained science." And that's only sort of true. You can empirically measure that it exists and gather evidence to explain how it works. That's how Betty became a wizard herself. PB's fault wasn't being a scientist. Because it was never a matter of science. She was assuming a metaphysical basis for reality -- but that wasn't an conclusion she arrived at by looking at the evidence, she just assumed it because she didn't like the idea that there was a problem she couldn't explain with her existing skillset. You can, if you wanted to, do what Betty does and study the psychology of the wizard and that does give hints. There's also no reason that you can't do what truelocalweirdo does and piece together the puzzle from the events of the show. It'd be hard as an inhabitant of Ooo. But it's doable. You can literally talk to cosmic entities. PB just never bothered doing so.
Man, you made the explanation for mud time so easy, when i tried to explain it to my friends it was just, imagine being omnipotent, expericing life all at once. But your explanation is so much easier on the brain than mine.
